In this episode of Adventures with Purpose, we head to the Willamette River in Portland Oregon to recover an old vintage work trunk sunk 25' underwater.
Crazy... RIGHT?
So how did the Chevrolet truck sink?
We have a theory that over 60 years ago, the work truck was on an old work dock. One day the dock collapsed and the truck sunk underwater in the river.
Sad the never took the truck out of the river when it happened... 😢
Now the GOOD NEWS!
Now that we've succeeded in pulling the sunken truck out of the river, floating it back to the boat ramp, the sees daylight for the first time in over 60-years!
What's our next underwater treasure hunting adventure going to find?

It's a 1947 through 53 Chevy truck that frame could actually be cleaned up and reused if it's not extremely pitted you can buy everything you need for it at LMC truck or classic parts. The engines of far stretched to fix but the best time to do it is right after pulling it out.

After those got a tip a post war Chevrolet 3100 was disposed of in the water for at least six decades when those floated the chassis when over the decades the body had rotted out. With the few that believes it was original down to the 216 stove-bolt inline six. With the few that was to try and restore what is left of the chassis when the engine may be too far gone to restore as those hope to resto-mod the project when the engine is likely tossed for something more modern.

Thats actually really cool! That trucks from the early 50s, possibly late 40s. Amazing condition too considering how long its been down there. That engine some parts may be savable like Walt said. Man it breaks my heart to hear he passed away. He was educating you on that tar-top battery and starter button. That transmission shifting is amazing. Just goes to show you how well stuff was made to last back then. The frame/chassis. If I had some spare time and whatnot, id try and hit it with the sandblaster and see if it goes to swiss cheese or actually comes off clean. Who knows, frame may actually be savable! Transmission in it certainly seems savable. I wouldn't scrap that thing at all. In fact i'd probably try and restore that frame if possible and put another cab on it and all, and it may even be strong enough to be rebuilt again. If I could figure out a way to get them vehicles like this one from west coast to the east coast without spending a ton of $ in shipping, id certainly take them off your hands, lol. Also a lot of them finds like the sawmill blade, ida pulled that up in a heartbeat. My grandfather used to have a sawmill and I've had blades like that over the years. Cleaned up their worth about $100+ a piece.

Don't be disgusted. Think about it like this......these materials were mined from the earth and eventually they will go back to the earth. You and I will too. Nothing man can do will destroy the earth. We could set off every nuclear bomb in existence and the Earth will still be here. Human beings won't be there to witness it, but the earth would recover eventually. That doesn't mean we should disrespect or disregard God's beautiful creation. All we have to do is love and respect one another and ourselves and the rest will fall into place.

I know of a brand new truck that rolled into the Columbia River just below Chief Joseph Dam in about 1973. The truck had been purchased brand new in Spokane and driven to Bridgeport, the farmer got out and went inside his daughters house when the truck popped out of gear and rolled into the river. The farmers son in law told me that he witnessed it, the truck floated into the current which is pretty strong a mile below the dam. Divers searched for it but never found it. There are haystack rocks as large as houses underwater in that area, it is around 100 feet deep. The truck had only about 200 miles on it and was full of the farmers tools.
