Missing The Issue: JLA Omnibus by Grant Morrison! (DC Comics) 

🐶🐶 WOOF WOOF! I said this was coming, but it's the first in a new series: Missing The Issue! The completionist in us wants to make sure that we have every issue that we can, but do we actually need it? In this premiere episode, I'm looking at the recently released JLA by Grant Morrison Omnibus, and looking at what's missing, why, and where you can find them now! . Hopefully this helps some of you, and it's enjoyable. Not sure if there's a demand for this, but I know I'd find it useful when I was getting into comics. Let me know what you think! . I despise when they do this in omnis i would much rather a whole chronological run than a creator centric omni. I still bought JLA anyway but I hate having to buy other ohcs to fill in the gaps. They’re lucky tower of babel is awesome or I wouldn’t bother. This is a good video series though Marcus I’m interested to see more of these 🔥🙏

I am a Grant Morrison and no offense to Mark Waid but I prefer these types of collections. I follow creators and this is perfect for me BUT I understand how other can feel about this.

If you want complete runs stick to Epic Collections, Complete Collections or Thicc DC trades, because the trend of creator focused omnis seems to be here to stay.

I wish DC wouldn't do these "by creator" omnis and just release full run's - instead I've just kept the 9 volume TPB's that collect the whole series (Its the same reason why I'm skipping the upcoming Teen Titans by Geoff Johns omni)

I’m just gonna pick up the JLA Tower of Babel Deluxe Hardcover which fills in most the gaps. It’s like a JLA companion book. Problem solved.

Great video Dogg! I don't have the omni yet but I found this super interesting and it has made me a lot more informed about what I'd be getting if I were to pick it up. Whenever you hear an omnibus is missing issues like this it can be a bit off-putting, so I think a series like this is an awesome idea to help see if it's something you actually should care about! In some cases it's probably going to even streamline things! Really looking forward to you covering more books in the future in the same way, I think it's going to be a super useful resource for people! WOOF WOOF! 👊

Great video Marcus, and I’m with you on this. I bought this omnibus, read it cover to cover, thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t feel like I missed anything (Superman’s temporary blue appearance notwithstanding). Too many people are getting their panties in a twist on the few missing issues from this otherwise gigantic collection. Honestly, if it was a choice between including JLA Earth 2 or having an unbroken run contained regardless of writer, I am so glad they included Earth 2 since that story kicks ass. With most ongoing series from the Big Two, it’s inevitable that there will be fill-in issues, annuals, one-shots and/or crossover tie-ins that otherwise don’t have anything to do with the ongoing storylines and aren’t by the usual creative team. Anybody that is an ultra-completist will ultimately have to collect single issues or trades, since omnibuses are designed more with the creators or specific storylines in mind. We’re lucky we even get these massive collections now which were unheard of 20 years ago, so people really just need to get over themselves when complaining about little nitpicky stuff like a few missing issues. ...and yes, I will be buying Tower of Babel Deluxe Edition as well, but that’s mainly because I like Mark Waid. 😊 Woof woof!

Not an omnibus reader, but this has me triggered

this omnibus and tower of babel it is. i have been so on the fence on picking this up since i hunted down the majority of the trades. so hard to decide what to do. after watching whale watch, managed to get cable and xforce omni for under cover before it disappeared for who knows how long.

As someone who owns both JLA by Grant Morrison and The Tower of Babel Deluxe Edition I think I can make a qualified statement about them not including #27, #35, and #42(between the end JLA by Grant and Tower of Babel) I could not give less of a metric shit.

I like the concept of your vids a lot. Incomplete storylines are kind of a pet peeve of mine when buying these books, and while I agree some of the guest-issues written by Waid, Millar, etc weren’t essential, they were still part of my personal nostalgia for the era and they did do more of the character-building that wasn’t seen as much in Morrison’s issues. What does bother me is leaving out Midsummers Nightmare and Paradise Lost as they kind of were narratively important, with MN bringing the team together prior to #1 and introducing the Mageddon threat, and PL closing out the Zauriel/Neron/Azmodel story arc from #6-7.

Good idea for a series - nice. :) I hung on to my deluxe OHC collections for this run, so am only missing 3 issues total.

JLA by Grant Morrison goes to issue 41. From the Amazon description it looks like the Tower of Babel Deluxe HC is starting with issue 43, which means that issue 42 will also not be collected. 😞

Great video and you was cool to see you with Omar before. I still ended up getting because I loved the run, but I think they could’ve swapped out the excess 1,000,000 issues that weren’t really necessary and just double dips with the event Omni as well as taking up pages that couldn’t have been used for other issues.

Great video, looking forward to more. Maybe you can help determine why the "What If" Omnibus is "missing the issue" for an issue that was in a prior Omnibus? Could it be the cost to pay the estate that owns one of the characters was too high? Is that why the Master of Kung Fu Omnibus are on your least value list due to those costs drove up price per page. Ok, I'm rambling, great video again and this one made me a subscriber.

Appreciate the video. I had already got the vol 4 tpb before the omni was announced so when I heard that it didn't have issue 35 by DeMatteis that was deal breaker for me because that really is a special issue that isn't (at least yet) collected anywhere else and went ahead and got vol 1-3 in tpb.

Very cool idea, and definitely useful for those of us with OCD about having all the issues, even without knowing what it is those issues might contain. So awesome that you tell us what happens in those issues and where we can find them! I'd love to see this for more omnis! (Yes, Superman by Tomasi is one of them!)

I've been considering upgrading to the omni and deluxe books from the trades and this video was a great help. I'll be keeping my eye on further 'missing issue' episodes in the future as these can be the tipping point on the old "should I or shouldn't I upgrade" decision. Keep up the great work :D.

Thanks for figuring this out for this. With certain omnibuses that missing issue may be in another omnibus as part of another series' arc, as a tie-in. In some JLA or JSA graphic novels, there are issues found in the other of two.

I get why this stuff can annoy folks but i actually like creator centric Omnis. Mostly cos i just wanna read my favourite creators work on these characters, rather than collecting an entire unbroken run, regardless of the team.
