Same, learned about it in school, watched the movie, at the end of the movie, it shows the real titanic, i felt like i was there through the movie, no need to physically go. Just NO!
Love how Kev addressed the Russell Simmons situation. It’s so important to acknowledge the trauma of ignorantly denying ppl’s truth. It’s extra powerful to hear Kev take this stance because of his stature and his proximity to Russell as a former employee.
The sad thing is that the same argument that he is using to defend the daughter, Russell Simmons supporters are using to defend him and both sides are making convincing arguments to their audience.
@@kickrockspleze I don't see him "just" defending the daughter. He is doing more than that and is speaking to abusive parent -child relationships in the Black community. Also, what arguments are R.S. supporters using? What was shared here was that they were not at all using the same arguments. They were undermining the daughter's truth my claiming they are less valid because "Russell built Hip-hop."
@@kickrocksplezeThat can be said for any argument. People defended the cop who choked out George Floyd just as vehemently. Communities who defended the men who killed Emmett Till also had a passionate argument. Every argument has two sides. You said absolutely nothing.
@@22221mmExactly. They defended Afrikaa Bambaattaa as well when asked why didn’t you all say something. They all knew. Black people have to realize the same reasons they turn a blind eye to the wrong doings of their heroes is same reason that white people do the same for their heroes.
Also as a "free" fan I'm very appreciative of all the FREE content you provide to the people... it's appreciated! People who are taking it personal need to take it up with themselves! 😮
You all really dropped some gems in this one! Kevin: "I can't minimize what someone else's harm has been because that's not my experience." Angel: "I can't control the role that I get in someone else's story."
When Angel says we can't control who we are in our children's life narrative, it goes deeper as they get older, not only can't you control it, it's NOT your business 😢😢😢hardest parent lesson I've been learning!
I also think that while people are three dimensional, predators specifically do good acts to protect their reputation so that they continue to abuse and prey on others. They're counting on the goodwill they have created to get others to silence their victims.
the talk about the simmons' family and how our community struggle to hold black men accountable was so needed. i always say that i don't defend people because i'm not with them 24/7 365. you never really know people
I remember when I was a kid I told my mom I wish we had a family like this family I'd see everyday, my mom told me "don't wish that, you never know what happens behind closed doors", later on that family went through a divorce I found out so much wrong stuff went on in that house, I never forgot that piece of wisdom from my mom
@@roselynholloway7863 one thing was dude was beating his wife and kids like he was getting paid for it, physically and mentally, they just pulled it together in public
I really appreciate, Kev, how you model as a Black man a healthy way of navigating abuse in the Black community. How you break it down, so that we can follow how the toxic mindset of "don't air dirty laundry" works, which has been normalized in our community. I think it's so important that we learn how to think through how we came to an opinion. This was such a word! "We like the appearance of a clean house, we don't like to clean house." Thank you, Angel and Kev!
This could NEVER be me. I don't mess around in environments without exits and even if I could afford it I would not spend one dime to pay somebody to take me underwater to where a supposedly unsinkable ship sank.
A big thing y’all missed is that after the oldest daughter posted happy Father’s Day, russel posted about Kimora keeping the kids from him. Which is why Kimora went live and the youngest posted the texts and FaceTime screen record. He forced their hand. I don’t think they ever wanted it public
There are 3 Titanic museums I really wanna visit. One in Branson, Missouri, one in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and one in Belfast in Northern Ireland. General admission at each of those museums is under $50. UNDER FIFTY DOLLARS! I don't care how much money I got, I can't even fathom getting in a sub to go explore the real Titanic.
I saw the traveling Titanic exhibit in Atlanta a few years ago. I have no idea what made me go - oh, yes... It was free with a team building event with my coworkers. I only went because after we went to our functions, we didn't have to go back to work for the day. If not free, lunch included OR I had to go back to work, I would have missed it. I am still skeptical of that place was legit.
Huh? I can definitely fathom it. Visiting the actual wreckage sounds like such a cool adventure. If I had never heard of a tour going badly (I'm assuming others have toured it safely before these people), then I would feel safe to do it.
If you watch that Will Smith episode where he dives, you can see a guy in the background crossing his chest and praying for them as they get put in the water. It causes Will to pause but it would have gotten me out of the boat all together. HIS WHOLE SHIRT CHANGED COLOR! Apparently red doesn't go that far down. That is crazy!
Kevin’s dialogue on Russell was amazing and enlightening. It’s good to hear a male figure discuss power and different experiences based on the relationship held with that particular person. Huge!
After seeing the submersible, looking on the inside, reading the contract AND paying $250k...oh them people dumb!! Don't mess with water and for goodness sake don't mess with an ocean full of doggone water! Smh!
Them Biscoff cookies are straight 🔥🔥🔥. That being said, gonna upgrade to the KOS first class package when im able. Until then...cookies and Sprite it is 😁😁
I’m not going to lie, I wanted to know what happened before Angel started but it was a hit from the very first episode. Angel is the right fit and adding Josh just leveled it up.
The Titan submersible situation was so mind boggling to me and like Kevin, I just couldn’t (still can’t) understand the appeal. But looking into it more, it looks like Expensive High Risk travel is its own industry (albeit small and niche). There are a lot of outlandishly rich people who pay hundreds and thousands of dollars to have these type of experiences. One appeal for them is the experience itself but also the exclusivity factor and bragging rights; the fact that they’re that small percentage of people on Earth who have done something like this. I guess it’s supposed to be sort of a flex but I mean…I just can’t relate. Some folks say that people with that type of money also are likely to become bored with life because everything is “easy”. Not that I would know but I feel like if you’re that rich and become bored then maybe you need to get better at being rich. I promise I know I can find an abundance of things to do with that money that don’t involve such a high chance of death or severe injury 🥴. But yes, as hard as it is for me to understand why they went to do this in the first place, I do hope that by some miracle (because at this point it could be nothing but a miracle) they’re able to make it out. Praying for them and their families.
It’s hard to speak to the totality of a person with a flawed character, because they present what they want others to see. I learned in high school that I’d praise my friends Dad and say how funny or great he was. But to her he was an abusive alcoholic and it made me honor the persons experiences and reality of who knew the whole person first before what was portrayed to me.
It blows my mind how people think it's okay to consume someone's FREE content and get upset when some of it is behind a paywall and said person promotes that content. Take your free laughs or pay for more. Aint nobody obligated to make you giggle for the free.
Oh course this situation is worse than the cave cause in the ocean they can drift and sink to a part which humans and machines can't reach and that's what it seems like because they're getting pings of banging noises in 30 min intervals from around the location
@@tiffanykim2773 yes look it up they've been hearing banging noises almost in Morse code in time intervals where around the proximity but they can't reach it. I just read one day they're sending something down there to check but it'll take hours to get there and they have around 10 hours of oxygen left
@@alilake1 OP is a film critic! Her videos are amazing and definitely deserve more views. I also love Pay or Wait (she does interviews of the cast as well) and Just My Opinion Reviews
In my mind they were in a fancy tech savvy submarine where you could see the water all around you. But in a tube with a remote with one window that you can’t even see clearly 😮.
The one Will Smith took in his Disney+ special was mostly glass. They definitely didn't go that far down and I was terrified watching in my living room.
The funniest part is that logitech controller isnt even a high quality controller. You really skimped out on that? Ive seen that they use game controllers to control some military devices but they arent using some bummy controller people wouldnt even want to use to play games. Also theres no way Id be relying on a WIRELESS controller either. That shit needs to be hardwired for me to trust it. None of that battery powered garbage
I appreciate Kevin so much cause i love the free content. Having to explain to people why you also do business is crazy. Niggas gotta make money some how lol
It's weird that people really believe that money absolves people of problems that regular, non-rich people experience. It doesn't. If anything, it exacerbates the problem. Keep in mind that Kimora was a teenager when they started dating. He had years to grom her.
Just hear to say “THANK YOU!” I haven’t been able to join either Patreons but I support in the best ways I can. I love y’all. I love it here. This space allows me to feel seen amongst all the muck in social media. You all are phenomenal and truly inspiring. I just had to say “thank you.”
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I didn't work the entire month of December and sometimes I still feel like I'm playing catch up. I had to ditch that yearly subscription, but I'm gonna get back on it soon. In the meantime, I'm grateful for the free content. I can't stand when people complain about something they are freely given. Watch or don't watch. Nobody should have to tell you not to feel bad if you ain't got it.🙃 Sorry to vent, just want to thank you for extending gratitude. And, I hope financially you find yourself in a better place soon!
Its not 6 thousand pounds of pressure. Its 6 thousands pounds of pressure per square inch. So unimaginable pressure. Best case scenario is it imploded, because at least that would be instant. Suffocating aint it
Oh puhlease🙄 People are greedy. I feel like those people complaining about your content, are the same people with Hulu, Disney plus, Netflix subscriptions 😂 How's a patron subscription gonna throw you off? It's funny how ya fans will pay to watch other things on other platforms, but will shame you for putting a price on your hard work, so that you and your family can eat. You're so humble Kevin ❤ And shout-out to the patron subbies
I pay for my internet, my studies only. I watch RU-vid and I appreciate Kevonstage offering free things. May you continue to be blessed though #wereallnotthesame
I feel bad for these rich people, bc someone targeted them. They knew they had more money than they had sense and marketed this "exclusive experience " to them. I pray they make it home
It was supposed to be a sixth person to go with them, but I don't know if he couldn't go or he decided not to go, but he's not lost at the bottom of the ocean at risk of suffocating to death. 👀😫
Personally, Angel joining the show was the best thing to me. Yeah Im nosy and wanted to know all the deets but she's such a great addition to the show that it dont even matter to me because she's here.
You guys are doing such a FANTASTIC job with your inner work and growth in therapy👏🏽 When you speak about your experiences, it shows. Thank you for the honesty about yourselves 🤗💗
Wait....wait.....they out here looking at the Titanic wreckage in a sub being controlled by a MadCatz controller? Dog, we didn't want to use that thing when we had the boys over. You got that controller if you lost, I'm not letting my life hang in the balance of that thing working or not.
I took 2 months off Patreon (got a new card and forgot to update) and felt so sad 😅. I can completely understand both sides. Thanks Kevin for being compassionate, we gon find the funds to get there!
I like their insite on the simmons situation. Easy to say "that's your daddy" we do not know whats going on and parents can get cut off if they are doing more harm than good.
I agree with Angel! I don’t like enormous things. This is why I don’t go to large concerts or any concerts that are going to be packed. I’m 4’10” and I don’t like all those ppl standing over me. I start to hyperventilate
Ok, so y’all are the ONLY podcast that make me actually want to listen to your infomercials! Like, I’m a financial expert and still listening to that first commercial like, “you right you right!.” Oh wait, I’m covered!!! 😂
Whew! Y’all spoke a word on the situation with Russell. Hopefully those who didn’t get it, get it now! 🙌🏽 The community really doesn’t want to clean house!
Love this podcast! I’ve supported a number of initiatives (app, masterclass, keep your distance, etc); I even listen to some of the ads in full so they have to pay. Ima sign up for patreon soon tho.
I met Russell Simmons in an airport while working for Delta. He was rude, and very condescending. Addressed my coworkers as if we were less than. Walked passed me and handed his ticket back to me for me to scan it. When I moved back home and needed to get a bank account, I refused to even get a Rushcard.
@ 21:48 ! Me too! I was watching that show like it was a blockbuster horror action psychological dramaedy movie! Screaming at the tv like I was on a roller coaster. And Will was all calm, they had their lil snack crackers, he had on the right color shirt for the light to reflect off… I mean just acting like he won’t on the brink of losing it all!
I am really thankful for how Kev demonstrates what masculine nurturing can look like. He is secure enough in his identity that he will genuinely tell Josh that he loves him without feeling the need to diminish it or explain it away. It's just how he does business. He's creating a culture around him where it is common and safe for men to express the care they feel for others, even those who they are not in familial or romantic relationships with. He's not one of those "oh he know how I feel" type of folks, instead he is explicit in communicating his care for others.
