My local police force did nothing for 15 years about a girl who was murdered and dumped/abandoned nude across state lines. Her family got tired of begging the police to look into it and hired a retired investigator turned private investigator and he solved the case in 8 weeks. Her killer is in jail now and our DA/police took credit for it when all they did was argue with the state police in Texas about why they didn’t think they should be the ones investigating anything since she was dumped there. It ended up shining a huge light on the corruption top to bottom in Alexandria, LA. There’s lots of podcasts and vids explaining by Woody Overton the PI if anyone reading this is interested. It’s only gone semi-viral and her poor family has worked tirelessly to get Courtney’s case solved. RIP Courtney Coco you deserved so much better

Police are bound by state laws NOT to investigate across state lines. That is one reason if there is a police chase, the police in the next state take over the chase, when state lines are crossed. This rule is also the reason many murderers will cross state lines to hide a body. Also, the differing state where the body is hidden, doesn't know about a crime being committed, and it will take longer to discover. This is one reason that before DNA, serial killers would regularly move a body into another state, as well as hide it in an isolated area. A private investigator is not deterred by the same limitations police officers are bound by.

I had a family member that acted this way without drugs. When the person went missing, a police officer was very dismissive because it "sounded like drugs". Since the person was over 18, they are free to wander without a trace. They were found 8 months later in a psychiatric hospital, with no identification Their childhood behaviors are not normal. Psychiatric conditions are a lifetime problem, with or without drugs. These people are also given drugs by professionals. So, if they act strange without drugs, they are told that they are acting that way because they are not taking drugs.

@@8bert9 My family had devastating alcoholism on both sides. I joined AlAnon. Maybe I'm odd, but I found it more pleasant to be around the alcoholic when they were drinking than when they abstained. Joking, singing, etc. It sounds pretentious, but the current phrase is "neurodivergent". People can be born with very sensitive nervous systems. I don't like to say someone is "Alcoholic". @@8bert9 Sadly, understanding that addiction is an illness is only half the battle. Actually, it’s not even half. It’s like 10% of the battle. The problem is what to do. People with diabetes don’t typically lie, manipulate, and steal to get their medication. Addiction leads to the sufferer doing these things, and family members struggle, understandably, with how to support a person who can’t or won’t help themselves. Understanding that their addiction isn’t their fault and is no longer a choice doesn’t solve the problem of what to do or how to help. It also doesn’t address the even more important issue of how loved ones can protect and help themselves from all the ways in which addicts hurt them (unintentionally…but that doesn’t make it less real).

"I wonder how hard the loss prevention people were looked at by police?" Ummmmm...I hope you are kidding. That's ridiculous!...the loss prevention people should have been given a medal (or a raise at least). At least they stopped people from stealing merchandise, which stealing increases the price of everything for us law abiding citizens. Usually they just let them walk out with cart loads of stuff...at least they tried to stop them and were able to prosecute them, somewhat. If the loss prevention people were in on the burglary, they wouldn't have bothered to stop them to the extent that they did. I also am pretty sure they know what direction that she went when out of the store...obviously the loss prevention people would have seen (no need to watch the camera footage) and that doesn't mean much...she could be anywhere. Sadly, I agree with Dr. Grande that she must have met with some "bad actors" and she is passed away now. My condolences and sympathy to her family and friends.

Good morning, Dr. Grande! So Ashley was a pathological liar, drug user and had a history of criminal activity. As you pointed out, so was Tiffany. Ashley's changing stories didn't help the police. On the other hand, not reporting her disappearance to the police or telling Tiffany's family about it made him look suspicious, but I also doubt that he killed her. As for the police having no empathy towards Tiffany, that's probably true enough. Her criminal case history was enough to sour the milk of human kindness in that regard. When she ran off under the influence of drugs, she could have run into people that she had previously offended who took revenge on her or, in her muddled state, ran into a wilderness area and died of exposure. Nice use of the letter "S" when summing up the case. Thanks for sharing.

Exactly. All it would take would be for her to hitch a ride with the wrong person and then tell them what she’d just done, trying to leave before police arrived at the Walmart. It’s not like she’d be very picky about who she took a ride with, considering all. They’d know everything they needed to know about her from that and her behavior - intoxicated, on the run, and last seen running away from her crime, a history of shoplifting, history of drug use = lots of enemies and estranged family. Desperate. With an added built-in key for motivating her = addiction. Not the kind of woman they hold candlelight vigils for when they go missing. Hunters know their prey.

I’ve lived in the area my entire life and am just down the road from that Walmart. To add, though there are quite a few stores and restaurants right in that area, at that time - this was one of the only locations in the area that had 24-hr shopping and restaurants, BUT… kind of oddly, there is still to this day even a several large wooded areas surrounding that Walmart. Just off to the side and behind it there’s a very large dimly to non-lit wooded area definitely out of reach of any surveillance cameras and is non-residential. If I had to guess, he harmed her just a stone’s throw away from the exit where she was caught. Likely left her there and went to the IHOP right across the street and called for help collecting her remains and there’s several miles and many places where you could make someone disappear between that Walmart and Powder Springs. God, I hope they find her so her parents can have some peace. *This Walmart was in a pretty dicey area. My first thought watching this in the beginning was, she was begging to be caught shoplifting bc they canvas that store with security, especially that time of night. You see how those guys looked to be plain-clothed? I’m pretty sure they used to pay people under the table to work security during those hours back then. It’s possible she could have met with another demise that night… LOTS of sketchy characters around that area. She could have met with one seeking help, but picked someone that harmed her instead.

I'm thoroughly convinced that Tiffany was sexually molested before 2 yrs old, and that's when she began to steal toys and act out. This is what happens when trauma is ignored and untreated. I think she met her demise, considering her altered state of mind, and in my opinion, Ashley was not involved.

we have a relative that lies constantly. I suppose most children will try out a lie to avoid any challenge to their bad behaviour, but her lying was never like that. She would lie about things that didn't matter. The best reason we can guess is that she isn't very bright (and knows it), so this behaviour is her way of trying to always seem cleverer than whoever she's talking to. She prefers to lie even when there is nothing to gain. She wasn't in an abusive family as a child, but she probably got into traumatic situations as an adult though none of her family are likely to find out the truth about anything. The constant lying has turned her into a person that most people would never willingly spend time with. She's in her mid 40s, so that's not going to change.
@deejames1st
@deejames1st Год назад
@@mandolyn You never know what goes on in another’s home. Even if you’re in that same home. Things can be hidden quite well, leaving others unsuspecting of what is really going on. Someone that is “born to lie” is often a psychopath. A true psychopath is rare. Bundy was the closest to that we have seen in recent times. This woman was not like Bundy. I found it odd that the Mother in this case said the child was taking things that were not hers at age two, yet in none of her statements, does she hold herself accountable as the parent. At two, a child often mimics what they see in their own homes. They’re just beginning the process of learning what it is to be in society - from their parents/caregivers.

Dr. G, idk it you'll see this but thanks for portraying this woman with dignity. Stating the facts of the case, which include seriouly unbecoming details about her, was relevant and needed to be said. But you managed to deliver it without a trace of disgust. The fact you chose to profile her at all speaks volumes about your compassion and understanding that addicts are human beings. As a former academic star turned crash victim turned addict, I deeply thank you for presenting this case. I'm certain she did horrible, ugly, things. I'm also certain she had unfulfilled potential. She didn't live long enough to find out who she could be sober. So when an addict dies, their loved ones grieve for THAT person. That potential. Who was lurking underneath the lying, stealing addict. The dirty truth about addiction is that no psychologically healthy, well-adjusted human being would EVER become a street addict. The lifestyle is total MISERY. It ages you. Fast. You lie. You steal. You do jail time. You HATE yourself THE ENTIRE TIME. And you do not have the brain function necessary to see the way out is to get help. It's obvious as hell to anyone, but in the midst you literally don't have any idea you can live a day without the drug. You believe you are a waste, a burden, a scourge, a criminal, and that's your fate. Healthy people do not put themselves in this position. Please remember we are humans and when we're using we are as disgusted as you are. But we don't believe in ourselves in any capacity and we are so, so sorry for what we are and how we hurt you.
