I was really young when he passed, but it was how he passed that will stick with the young me forever. After seeing his funeral on T.V. and how many people he touched, which included Diana Ross in making this song within weeks of his passing, is a testament in itself of how special of a person he was. Rest easy King.

My mom's favorite artist....the love of her sent her this cassette(tape) she listened to it often. When she fell ill with cancer, we were not speaking terms. She called me and said I have 6 months. Within a week I was with her she passed at 50. When I was cleaning up her car, this cassette was in her player on this song. Thank You For giving us this song and the gift of unconditional love.

When this song was first released Diana said it was dedicated to Marvin and i was annoyed. I thought it was just an attempt ot capitalize on their old association. I couldn't see what it had to do with him. It didn't stop me from loving this song at all, but i was annoyedAll these years later, seeing this video for the first time, now I understand what he meant to her.
