Best beginning to a song I've ever heard

Darker the weather, the better the EVERYTHING...

To me, this sounds like a song about loss, and perhaps about modern day divorce. It's like when a couple divorces and the man is left with no children, no money, and no real purpose. This song is for those men that had there life robbed and gives them hope. This is how I interpret it at least.
