Range of different weapon systems seems to be the deciding factor on how engagements work out, over say numbers or veterancy.

Yeah indeed, however veterancy does play a large part in infantry combat and long range tank engagements where accuracy and rate of fire is important.

Hmm, I wonder what the cinema in the cutscenes sporting posters for a film that is set in Allied-occupied post-war Vienna (Der Dritte Mann is the german release name for The Third Man) has to say about the long-term effectiveness of the things you accomplish during this campaign.

Certainly alot of pressure and fighting on 2 fronts is not easy. As much as I disagree with some of the battlegroup unit choices, you did quite a work on the allies.

The skirmish can potentially provide many hours of fun in this game. There are loads of different units and strategies to try out. I would recommend it if you enjoy the setting.

The solo skirmish mode is like playing chess. The medium AI is so hard to beat. Depending on what division you are up against you have to change your strategy.

Did they change the difficulty? I'm pretty much spending all my beginning points on stuff I put in Ouistreville, and I can barely keep it, since they shell the heck out of it and bomb it to smithereens. It also seems like there's a lot more tanks trying to get through St Aubin. I know it's supposed to be hard. I can win the map, sure, but the losses I suffer from helping Ouistreville maybe aren't worth the effort... Not sure. Would you consider playing the campaign again? In any case, it does seem like they've made some changes over the past 6 months :D I did make it to the 4th mission, but I had so few infantry units left on my list that I couldn't beat it, which is why I'm starting the campaign over.

Seeing that it's almost June....... What would happen if you added additional campaign mission as they happen from June 6th d-day to v-day....... or when the German surrendered? You could have dlc content almost monthly?

Is this mission different in release version? There doesn't seem to be much action on your top right corner. In my game the AI swarms with 20+ infantry units and bunch of tanks and they will obliterate the right corner if it is not assisted heavily.

Same! Top right gets completely over run, if i do not spend most of the available points to defend up there. which leaves me short to set up and stop the tanks rolling in the bottom town,

Hm, I can't deploy units in the upper right corner. Only from the bottom of the map. And I'm failing and failing over and over again because I can't send troops to help defending.

when i do that Rush by 2nd infantry in multiplayer, i got rekt by one nebel :I and got pinned down just by grenadiers :I 30 cals are shit :D i learned to no grab them at A phase. Thats why i am hyped for Airborne 50 cal in A phase :D Edit: I don´t know but you and Bubblebox are my favorite Steel Division players. You both got some sort of relaxing voice, no homo. Just to pointing that you are doing good job.

Some of the tactics I use in singleplayer I would definitely not recommend in multiplayer, and don't worry I love a bit of Bubblebox too.

You should do this one again. I beat it, but to beat it reasonably clean is almost impossible. The amount of tanks they send at you are just to much to handle by the few anti-tank options available. Saving the 88's is impossible for me and after a while they come from all directions.

As a massive R.U.S.E. fan this is disappointing to say the least. The campaign was done so much better, and at only 4 missions per campaign, even the original Starcraft had a longer campaign. I might have bought this for the campaign, if it had been at least as good as RUSE or the Market Garden campaign for Company of Heroes: Opposing Force, but this comes off as way to tacked on for my taste. Not to mention the plethora of other poor design choices I think I'll wait for a proper R.U.S.E. sequel. Thanks for uploading this!

I think the campaign is larger now that it is fully released. He was playing a pre-release version which did not have the full campaign is my understanding.

I do agree. I played RUSE and loved every bit of its campaign and then played the beta for this..and the gameplay is good but seems more like wargame and the campaign now seems like a glorious tutorial

There are 3 campaigns with 4 missions each. Generally each mission does take more than 30 minutes with battlegroup building included. I think the campaigns are substantial for release and we'll definitely be seeing more in DLC.

This is a really old build and they didn't have the VO done at all most likely. It's older than the pre-order beta(the one you see in the MP videos from Vulcan and everyone else)

AI seems a bit naff, would be nice if the AI used things like smoke and tanks properly, as opposed to zerging its armour into treelines.

I sent them 2 artillery trucks,opel blitz,,command tank and a sd kfz. Plus airsupport when i could. One inf unit survived. Seems like they changed this mission.

This fucking stupid mission !!!! I started it so many times to try to lose as few units as possible but this is fucking broken. Everything is mostly fine until this stupid Crocodile comes in. It's ridiculuous, no infantry can take them. Panzer can't get close enough with their broken flamethrower, and it's a fucking vision nightmare for PAK in this town. The vision is blocked from everywhere, and these Crocodile hides behind trees. 1 crocodile decimated all my infantry in that town. I don't know if you're playing on easy or if they patched something in between, but I feel like they're coming much harder on me than on this video.

If you are struggling against armour use ambushes. Keep your men on return fire and only open up when tanks are in range of the AT.

Actually I succeeded by taking the city on the left first, to avoid getting flanked. I tried the ambush, and it works at the beginning, but at some point, I was getting overwhelmed by their reinforcement and I couldn't ambush anymore, and my AT was immediately pinned down by their Crocodile flamethrower.
