A reminder/Tip for those who have troubles here, Erns can go into miners to vastly increase energy output. A couple erns in the miners with the rest in the snipers, a sprayer or two, and 2 on the weapons upgrades helps immensely. Overbuilding snipers if you have extra energy and moving erns to the ones needed is worth it to stop the air sacs from blowing up all your miners like they did at 7:55 here. Rushing a huge wall of defenses is a must here, one you stabilize the creeping land path and can block the air sacs, the rest is super easy. Platforms are an option for the bottom path as well, one platform can be used to get a connection with towers across the gap. You don't have to rush, but its preferable to do the islands you have to until you get the infocache, the Thors are OP as hell.
bruh i don't even know Erns can supercharge any of the tower until the last Mission. until then i just fucking rush Energy Gen and rush Ern portal to get the faster shooting and range
A tip for something I've noticed you not doing here, and in other videos: You can send ARG over to an island or other place with porters, and use it to build an MRift there while your turrets establish the initial beachhead. Once it's done building, the porters become unnecessary and can be removed for space or used to establish another outpost. Moreover, unless and until you do so, any towers you build off your porters there are not connected to your base and so will not generate energy. Of course, you need to have also build an MRift by your base, but that should go without saying because that's just how MRifts work. A couple maps, such as the Secret Mission need you to porter over energy to where the Redeon is, build a porter there to bring Redeon back, and then send the ARG you make back again to build the MRift. But it still works.
the Airship Thor looks so Goofy after CW1 and 3's awesome starship design, but ho boy does this Thor deliver on par with it's contemporary designs~ also, are those just flat out the Obelisk of Nod guarding the reactor? XD
Overall; once the initial creep contact is countered (and that is the difficult part) this level was long but easy. Thanks for the video; I was about to give up but then you started the same as me; just needed to focus much more on initial defenses.
When they talked about the reactor being unstable I got super paranoid about shooting it and setting it off early. Seeing you bomb the fuck out of it was oddly satisfying.
with your terps lying dormant after grapping ern I evened out the south island a bit, makes it a lot easier to build runways. I also bring them along when trying to nullify - terraform a little platform for the nulllifyer to sit on, protecting it from emmited creep hitting it at ground level so quickly. Your vids have been super helpful for the harder levels, cheers :)
It might have been a little easier to hit the middle and north islands if you took the info cache first since the emitter on that island is the source of all the mesh and surrounding the area with thors negates the need for homeland defense with mass missiles and snipers, especially since each main shot from the thor takes only 1 packet.
how do you select squadrons so fast? I've tried figuring out control groups to easily select my bombers (ctrl+1 etc) but it doesn't work. I have to keep going back to the airfield or clicking the bomb icon and selecting squadron from that.
Also clicking a single one and pressing ctrl + a selects all of them. Selecting one bomber and one ac bomber with shift + click and then ctrl + a selects all of both, which is super nice. You can also select the crosshair of the bombers to select one. Otherwise you can also click a bomber in midair. I haven't used squadrons yet to be honest, all these tricks worked super fast for now.
Love the strat, just really curious why no rift sooner? i went the same way at start but platforms instead of porters since i didn't think about an air strike to clean the path but once over the gap the rift was sweet and doing the crossing with porters and plant rift after asap would be sweet and avoid the porters delay
This mission seems poorly designed: I didn't expect to be gifted by new weapons after picking up info caches, instead I managed to cleanse the whole map and only then I picked up those weapons, only to realize that I don't need them. I was so disappointed at that point.
It's meant to be beaten in multiple preferred ways. You can either slowly push with mass weapons, or you can save nearly a half hour by using porters and bombers in the island to go for the info cache quick and then build a fleet of thors. I had 10 of them by the end.
If you select a sprayer you can turn that on by selecting always on in the menu. Super useful to create a little ac buffer around the sprayer and use more ac if you have it
