I know it bites, he was our second on the depth chart for the Joker position and having a real good camp. I expect Joe Moore and Williams Nwanari will spilt second team reps there. Hopefully, Darris can comeback stronger next year, wishing him a speedy and well recovery.
The Darris Smith news is tough because as you said, I'm not sure there's another guy who fits the backup role at the Joker position. I like the idea of trying a linebacker at the position, but is there a chance they create non-Joker packages as well for when Johnny Walker Jr. inevitably has to come off the field? Smith was always going to be a wildcard, though. He obviously wasn't able to break into the rotation at Georgia. But physically, I think he's a weapon for what Mizzou is trying to do with that new position. Hate it for the young man.
Michael Porter Jr esque w/ Smith. Probably the most gifted athlete on the team. Was looking forward to watching him the most n days before game time done. Huge loss. I practically don't even care now. Only one near that talent is Nwaneri but he's a year away. Definitely just kills the buzz on the season. Offense will be fun defense will suck.
Idk how. If you watch the spring game he was clearly the best player on the team. Maybe he wasn't great at all parts of d end but getting to the QB he was by far the best. Hoping Nwaneri explodes now or provides major optimism early on.
