"Offside is one of the laws of association football, codified in Law 11 of the Laws of the Game. The law states that a player is in an offside position if any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents' half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the goalkeeper)." Its offside.
I know how people like to laugh and joke about things, but the way people laughed at Gerrard and kept throwing that slip at his face can literally be a life ruiner. You may think I'm saying this because I'm a Liverpool fan, but it's not because of that. Throwing a joke at someone about something that most likely haunts them badly is not cool.
3:59 did not belong in the clip, here is where the makers of the video make a mistake. There was contact with the player and not the ball, and it was in the penalty box. You can disagree with the call, say it was too harsh, perhaps. But it was not a mistake and did not belong in this clip. It is a good teachable moment for referees, though.
@@dancostello4872 Maybe. The discussion around that incident usually refers to whether it was a call or not. With Robben on the ball in the penalty box, considering the speed at which it happened, does anyone really think the defender's mistake is so big that it warrants being included in a bloopers video? I don't. I would say it is a controversial moment, but that is just me.
@@bernabeflores4481 I am not so sure, but that is not the point. This is a video of blunders and no matter what you think of the incident, you should be able to at least understand why the ref made the call. He may or may not have been wrong, but this is no blunder.
@Eligio Budde LOL doubt it. Referees have made blunders far far worse. If you call this a teeny mistake then the penalty call against Netherlands vs Spain in 2014 is a colossal mega blunder. Technically this is not even a mistake because contact was made. Even with VAR though, mistakes are still made. I think VAR is useful for deciding things like if the ball crossed the line or not, perhaps offsides (questionable) but nothing more.
Holy cow! Some of those point blank misses are unreal! I never played soccer. I reffed like 15 years ago and I am astonished at some of the players who basically have an empty net and kick over the goal or miss it wide. 😳
Im pretty sure over most peoples entire carreer whether youre midfield or attacker you are always gonna miss one of these big chances if you play football for decades
@@kairo_9512 this is why I hate football/soccer fans they are always trying to force people to say it the same as them but it makes no sense because its confusing because they have different sport with the same name so the only reason people make others say football is if they are just trying to be annoying

@@georgeb9783 He never got in trouble. This is Sammy Ndjock, who at the time played for my local team (Minnesota United) when they were a level below MLS. He felt bad but he continued to start for us the rest of the season. In fact the club ended up having a little fun with it - they shot an ad that showed him eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich during the halftime talk and having jelly on his hands when he went out for the second half.
The first one I assume is for offside. But Ozil is infact onside as he is behind the ball when it's played. I don't quite understand that, unless I've got the wrong idea.
yes!! I came here to see if anyone else made this comment.. He's behind the ball unless we have a horrid camera angle. That's not offsides. Official got that one wrong
He's flagging for offside, yes. Which, indeed, it isn't. Looks like the assistant referee was much too eager to catch them on this rather than looking at it from a neutral point of view.
Honestly, this would be a legendary team. The likes of Robben, Gerrard, Ozil, Ronaldo, Rooney, Varane, Lewandowski, and others would make one of the greatest teams in the world. All the same, I would 100% pay to watch them play because they're legends, not because they made a silly mistake or two.
