Woops turns out I left the camera on auto focus and it focused too much on my hand! That's a lesson for next time :)

I love these sit-down podcasty videos! I find that I struggle to find content that I can watch for fun, on the go, or while working - but you're content is that perfect mix. Plus, the topics you mention are really interesting. :)

I fully agree with the wasting time on societies as committee members! I also joined a lot of societies as committee members to show leadership, education role, etc which in retrospect don't add as much as the supra curricular activities done individually!

Thank you! It makes me happy to hear. It's a nice reminder that whilst many folks find them helpful, not everyone takes the time to leave a comment

Hello Ray! I appreciate you for replying to one of my comments in a previous video. (Context: I’m in year 11, expecting all 9s, except the subjects I’ll talk below. I have always dreamed to do physics at Cambridge) I’ve grown a bit paranoid recently, as in gcse, I’m struggling to get the grades I need for English literature, language and French. For context, I’m doing 9 gcse, and I’m afraid I may not be able to get 9s in those subjects - most probably 7s in them and 8 in French . I’m confident I’ll be able to get all the rest 9s though. Do you think that’ll ruin my chances of making into Cambridge for physics in any way? (For context, I struggle with French because I learnt it 2 years ago, but I’ve pushed myself to be at a grade 8 level. I struggle with English lit as I moved to UK recently and English is also my 2nd language) Again, I know this question may seem silly, but I just felt as if I should ask, rather than being worried! Thanks, Nakki.

Hey Nakki! I got a A (equivalent to a 7?) in French and a 7 in English Literature. Cambridge don't really care about your GCSE subjects that aren't directly related to what you're applying for. Eg, if you're applying for a science subject then they'll only care about your science subjects at GCSE. One of my friends even got an A at GCSE Physics and still did physics at Cambridge! Then again, the school he went to was quite bad. Don't worry about it, the application is hollistic so GCSE grades, A-level grades, admissions tests, interview, personal statement, etc etc. No one gets every part perfect.

Bro if everyone is getting a degree you need a high level one to get a decent job. I dont agree with the academics thing

I guess it depends on the country you're in. In the UK and US, I personally found jobs cared more about prior experience from internships or your own projects than grades. Grades are something to fallback on if don't have experience. A couple of my friends graduated earlier this year with top grades at Cambridge and are struggling to find jobs because they just spent all their time studying and have a blank CV. Whereas if they scarificed some grades and, I don't know, pursued some interest they had in graphic design and built a portfolio then they'd have an easier time finding a job at a design studio. Or if they wrote some papers then they could work at a think tank. Stuff like that. Personally, if I asked Ali Abdaal for an internship without a RU-vid channel, it's more likely he would've said no. The RU-vid channel I made and scarificed some grades for gave me an edge. And now I know with the Ali internship, I can basically ask more RU-vidrs if I can work for them and they'll say yes.

I graduated with a Masters in Chemistry and I have definitely doing what you have said to be true. I am just up skilling myself in Tech skills to try and get a job.
