I recently did a DEXA and compared to last year, my AP spine L1 - L2 went up from 2.0 to 1.8 but my right femural wards went down from 2.1 to 2.2. I know I’m osteopenia but I’m just wondering why this happened ? I do weight bearing exercises, walk a lot, go up and down steps and consume protein and I’m extremely happy that my spine numbers have improved but surprised that my femur has worsened by 0.1. Any advice appreciated pls. I’m 52, menopausal and female.

I would see if you can find a radiological facility that has a REMS Echolight Ultrasonic machine because it is the most accurate. DEXA can have errors. I just had a DEXA with a TBS (trabecular bone score) of the micro-architecture which is important as well. I learned about the REMS a week after I had it done, via research, so when two more years roll around I'm going to have the REMS done. Or maybe even do it out -of -pocket sooner than two years.
