Great video! I always enjoy listening to new perspectives on Sanderson's books, and some of your takes are ones I have not seen fans discuss very frequently or at all. One of your criticisms of the third book, the side quests, is actually one I thought of as well when first reading the series. I learned later on that these side quests are actually crucial to the lore of Scadrial (the planet Mistborn happens in). Because you loved Kelsier, I strongly recommend reading the short story called The Eleventh Metal, which has Kelsier as the protagonist. You should also read Mistborn Secret History, which is a novella that covers the behind-the-scenes events of books 2 and 3 from a perspective you probably don't expect. I strongly encourage you read the second era of Mistborn! It is a continuation of Scadrial's story (but don't worry, plot points from the first books are still brought up and advanced), and it expands massively on the magic as well as aspects of the first trilogy that you mentioned in the video you felt might have been unnecesary, lacking, or unsatisfactory. After that, remember that the Cosmere is a whole universe of interconnected stories just as good as Mistborn, if not better.
Thank you so much! I've heard of the Mistborn Era 2 books and I'd really like to check them out when I get the chance. I'm also looking forward to reading other Cosmere novels as you mentionned. I'm relatively new to this universe, so I wasn't sure excatly where to go on from Mistborn, but your comment helped me a lot!
@@thecooldinodude8794 Thank you again for the video! Make sure you read the short story and novella (in that order) I mentioned before you read era 2! If you need help with read orders in the cosmere in general, I can help you out, but it is generally very open, as Brandon has put a lot of effort into making every story self-contained. Let me know if you have any questions, however.
