In this UPA cartoon from 1958, MisterMagoo mistook a newspaper ad for what he thought was his face in said ad. As if things weren't bad enough, a walking wind up toy was mistaken for a ticking time bomb, resulting in complete pandemonium. Hilarious cartoon.
Ironically, Magoo would later pitch commercial endorsements for the now defunct Stag Beer. "I never touched a drop of the hard stuff in my life", indeed. He obviously meant hard liquor, but he was all right for selling beer.

That would be my guess. Sadly, a lot of the theatrical animation of that era omitted voice actor credit, Jim Backus and Mel Blanc being notable exceptions.
