The Mitakon 65mm f/1.4 for Medium Format Digital Cameras like the Hasselblad 907x & X2D as well as the Fujifilm GFX system has been a favorite lens of mine for years. The field of view closely equates to a 50mm on full frame and gives a very similar look to the classic Contax 645 80mm f/2, Mamiya 645 80mm f/1.9, & Pentax 67 105mm f/2.4. All at a relatively affordable price compared to other medium format options out there.

It’s such an incredible lens ! It cost 599$ but brought me 4-5 figures contracts and being published in NYC billboards. Such a great lens !!!!! I just love it. It gives you 4x5/8x10 look because of creamy bokeh and 3d pop. I wish they had option for 65mm 1.2 and 65mm 0.95 full coverage

A great review, very much admire this lens! I am curious though, what is that beautiful body cap on the GFX in the background?

I am curious to know how you feel this lens on either of those cameras compares to something like the voigtlander 50 1.0 on a full frame body?

Modded my Mitakon 65mm to have full stops. Not sure if it applies to every copy but there are grooves inside aperture ring on my Mitakon 65mm that correspond to full stops. Also was able to mod mine to reduce the minimum focus distance to 60cm.

Please share how you did it. Is your mod fixes the issues of bokeh balls being cut towards edges ? My 65mm 1.4 has bokeh balls which are slightly cut. I suspect it’s because of rear element

Always love these videos! I just picked up a used X1Dii and LOOOOOOVE IT and it currently have the 45mm P and it's so great. I'm looking for another lens but don't want to spend 3500-4k on a 90mm or 65mm XCD lens. I'm looking at the Mitakon 65mm or the TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25. Have you had experience with this one too?
@jacobh5817
@jacobh5817 5 месяцев назад
Like Benj said, the Hasselblad X platform relies on the leaf shutter built-in into the lenses. When using the Mitakon on an X1D, you have to use the electronic shutter. On the 100MP sensor in the X2D that works reasonable, but the 50MP in the X1D (and also the GFX50-line) has a very slow read-out. Unless your subject is really static, you’ll soon see rolling shutter in your images. Not an issue for landscape or portraits, but e.g. people walking in your image will soon show ‘elastic legs’.

Same reason I love the 90mm 1.25 by another manufacturer. These hyper fast lengths on bigger sensors produce super neat results.

Have you tried or have one of Hasselblad's own XCD lenses to compare this to? I'm interested in your 1st vs 3rd party opinion for this system.

Yep! I’ve been using the 55/2.5V with the system as well. Big fan of the new V series lenses. Focus is snappy and they’re crazy sharp.

Besides the form factor. What's main difference between the XC2D and the 907X & CFV 100C? Why would someone that wants to buy the XC2D change his mind and buy the 907X ?

Is your studio not insulated? I actually dig the ascetic of the winter jacket, but it just accrued to me it’s probably for practical reasons.

stop down a little and the lens gets crispy if you dont want to stop down add a little extra shutter like x3 focal length of lens. focus with your feet and eyeball. i just notice the difference in color between a fuji lens and this one but it is unique and that makes it a very cool lens to have for the gfx.

non - clicked aperture ring is typically a cinema lens feature, perhaps that was the thinking behind that?
@enshongmiranda
@enshongmiranda 5 месяцев назад
Probably not as I've found that the aperture control ring actually has grooves already cut out inside. For some reason, Mitakon didn't push through with putting a springloaded ball to provide the clicks stops. I ended up modifying mine by drilling a hole and placing a spring and steel ball inside to fit the grooves already on the inside of the aperture control ring. Mine stops at 1.4, 1.8 (I think), 2, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16.

Is it better to buy Hasselblad X2D 100C Medium Format Digital Camera Body or Hasselblad 907X 100C?
@benjhaisch
@benjhaisch 5 месяцев назад
The X2D is objectively better. It has an amazing EVF and IBIS as well as an articulating screen that can give you a *similar* experience to the 907X, but the 907X really is just a beautiful little camera on its own. The X2D is more versatile on its own, but the 907X opens up more flexibility if you want to use legacy cameras like the 500 or 2000 series

I feel like a complete moron, but nowhere in the manuak for the 907x CFV100C do I find where I can set to shoot "without lens." The 65mm f1.4 Speedmaster show up as "no lens" and won't allow me to shoot. I understand that it must be set to shoot "without lens," but i cannot find how in the manual or searching through the available menu items. Help!

Hey man, "old" GFX cameras like 50s or 50r second hand are around 2k or even 1.5k if you're lucky... With the prices of full frame cameras and semi profesional bodies these days I think is money but nothing crazy Pd: hasselblad is out of discussion xD

lol what do you actually want to know? It’s soft wide open, has limited aperture blades so bokeh gets wonky stopped down, aperture ring isn’t clicked, it’s heavy, throws a wide image circle, not sure what else.
