This is phase two of my miter saw station build. Drawers! Drawers! Drawers!! Lots of drawers in this miter saw station design. I wanted to do something a little different with the video so I edited it in somewhat of a cinema style. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it as well. Stay productive folks!

Those table saw infeed supports sure proved useful in this one. The Kreg Foreman did too. Did you wear out the bit drilling all those pocket holes? Nice nature noises! :)

What size screws did you use for your drawer slides? I'm copying part of your project and my local cabinet shop recommends #6 x 5/8" screws when attaching to 3/4" plywood. But, I found the screws strip the plywood and spin pretty easily (with or without a pilot hole). I'm a bit concerned this might be a problem for a heavy drawer holding heavy tools.

@khookieman
@khookieman 9 лет назад
So we had the Mathias Wandel index for structure integrity previously, and now YOU have come up with the "Jay Bates measure of weight integrity" test, when you emerged from the drawer, I cant help but imagine that you are preparing contingencies for when the Mrs kicks you out of the bed room for whatever reasons ...ha ha... the station looks great and is definitely robust or at least the slides are....well done its coming along fine. What if you put on weight, would you test the drawers again?
@JayBates
@JayBates 9 лет назад
Ronald Khoo Kah Hock The drawers themselves are not the weakest link in the test. The slides are rated at 85 pounds each. That's what I was testing. The drawers themselves would take a LOT more than that for them to fail.

@MartyBacke
@MartyBacke 9 лет назад
Very nice video. I like the approach you used for attaching the drawers to their slides. Beats measuring. A long long time ago I used to cut plywood on the table saw like that. I'm so glad I moved to the track saw for that kind of work. I think you have to reach a certain age where you say, "I'm not going to do this anymore". Your time will come ;-)
@JayBates
@JayBates 9 лет назад
Marty Backe I feel the exact opposite as you. I've traditionally cut all of my sheet goods with a circular saw and a track at first. This was the first project where I used my table saw for 100% of the sheet goods break down. All I had to do was push it through the saw. I had inffed supports and a side support that held the weight of the plywood. Much easier than using a track and circular saw plus the table saw has much better dust collection.
@MartyBacke
@MartyBacke 9 лет назад
Jay Bates I agree that the table saw will cut sheet goods great, particularly with the supports you added. There will be a point (but maybe you'll be lucky) where your back will no longer want to maneuver large sheets around the shop. That's my main point. BTW, I was referring to a track saw (DeWalt, Festool, etc), not a circular saw and track. My track saw dust collection is actually better than the dust collection on my table saw. Hands down. I'm not trying to be argumentative. Good discussion.
@JayBates
@JayBates 9 лет назад
Marty Backe Absolutely. I agree that a nice setup like a Festool will be better but if I were to get one a lot of my subscribers would go crazy lol.

Just downloaded the plans. Have most of it built already from the videos but wanted to support the team. Cheers

Very impressive Jay!!The video editing and the build itself!!When you stepped in that drawer ,I literally yelled "OOOOHHHHH"!!!LOL.I knew your drawers were going to be huge but I didn't think your were going to be able to hide people in them!lol.I'm anxious to see how you finish this up!This maybe your best Video yet!!

Awesome set up and planning. One question though, why the pocket holes on the outside of the drawer as opposed to the inside?
@JayBates
@JayBates 9 лет назад
So they won't be seen on the inside. The front of these drawers were covered in the next video.

Waasup JB. Just some feedback: I enjoyed the variety of the " no talk" video. It means U R thinkin outside the (wooden) box, in terms of making vids. My opinion is don't get locked down in a pattern of being predictable. I'm proud 2 B a sub & gave U a big fat thumbs up bro. BTW lots of helpful tips! Have A Super Blessed Week!..... Gus

crikey! that's a lot of drawers! monotony redefined ... On a side note, how have you found the Ryobi cordless tools? I'm trying to decide between the Ryobi One series, or spending a little more on the AEG (Ryobi's premium product), or spending half as much and getting the Standley Fat Max. Either way, I can't afford the Makita/Bosch/Dewalt level of products.

Jay: Great Storage System.. WOW.. Cant wait to use your plans to build my 5 foot wide tool box. I have one question. How wide would you go for a drawer made from 3/4 ply? The deepest it will be is 10 inches. Could a 4.5 to 5 foot (5' X 10" x 30") drawer made out of 3/4 ply be strong enough or is that too much? A little longer than your drawer at 9:11 in the video. Anyone else chime in with pics or videos of 5' wide drawer.....

This is great. What would make it better is if you some text on the screen telling us what you are doing. "Cutting 3/4 plywood for drawer faces" or something like that. THANK YOU for what you have created!!

AirBnB, alternative weekend accommodation in mitre saw station? People go on Google Maps, where is mitre saw station? Is that close to Grand Central Station? Nice build Jay, but I think you need more drawers.... Thanks, Tim

Jay, love your stuff...great video and editing. Lots of ideas for my space... thank you for the time you put in...gonna need the bed once I start this project...lol...Thanks again!...Curious though...how does the vac work on that? I was going to simply build a hood but I like the storage you created...Does it pull everything in? Mike at L/S

I currently work on an equivalent cabinet in your. I am inspired a lot of your work because I enjoy it. I am in France and comparison, I wonder how much costs a plywood plate to the USA. At home, the price of an equivalent plywood is 47 €. Thanks

Great vid! I about lost it when the drawer opened up with you in it. Ha! Question: Approximately how much did this project cost you in materials and time? I would love to build something like this. I am very disorganized and need help, but I'm not sure if it's even close to what I could afford. I'm a new subscriber and am looking forward to watching many more of your vids. Thanks!

Good Evening, Thank you for al your time and resources making such wonderful, entertaining, and education videos. I must ask, do you remember the name of the adjustable feet you used? Also, why didnt you add wheels for accessability and mobility if you moved? Again thank you so much, Jason Wojnar
