I have never heard of a torpedo bomber that was a triplane. Thank you, Rex. You are the new thing I learned about today. I am glad to see you are releasing videos again.

Hope you gave your translator a supply of Kirin Beer. Kirin was set up by a Scotsman Thomas Blake Glover who also helped set up Mitsubishi. His wife was reported as the inspiration for Madame Butterfly.

The Sopwith connection here gives me an idea for a video that I like to share in the hopes, that you like and "steal" it. I think a video about something like the family trees of aeroplanes (maybe 1914 -1950-ish) would be utterly interesting. I mean the Japanese basically build Sopwiths there, but over in the UK sopwith became Hawker and so on. Both interesting and probably not the only time it happend. (Even disregarding things like peperclip). I always love to find out, where the Big names of the past ended up (before they basically all became Airbus), but like Albatross, Sopwith, Pfalz, Fokker, Messerschmidt, Focke Wulf, Heinkel, Hawker, Arado, Supermarine, Bristol, the Royal Aircraft Factory, Bleriot, AVRO, the french companies who build the Nieuport or the Spad whoms names I don't wanna butcher, and so on. And the work of the designers who build those famous planes and then went on to do other things, like mentioned in this video. I think there are some really Interesting connections to find and even if it would just talk about parts of that, like where the WW1 names ended up in WW2 (Sopwith - Hawker, Albatross - FW, etc) I don't think that there is a video out there that covers this topic in such a way. But I think it's even more interesting to see connections of specific planes that don't seem related, via the designer or such.

I remember having a model of this plane as a kid by UPC. It was unbuildable and the wings kept collapsing before the glue could dry. These days you would use super glue to build it.

Regarding the earliest aircraft carriers, the 1st *commissioned* was the hosho, but the *very 1st in the world* was hms Argus, which predated hosho

Since you covered the XP-55 Ascender, do you also have plans to cover the similar J7W Shinden, since it was recently featured in Godzilla Minus One?

As for translating the Book, you could use Google Lens, to translate. I might not be perfect but it would functionary . I've used for some Korean texts I was looking at for a project.

That aeroplane, the Triplane, had the classiest looking radiator short of Rolls Royce.

Given the availability of small powerful engines I wish people would build more imaginative designs today. It would be easy to build planes full of character. But now they are basically faceless blobs.

Some staggerwing biplanes were designed with more angle to the forward wing or rear wing so that as the plane slowed to land close to the runway one wing stalled before the other and the tail would drop instead of nose down drop ?

I have RKO-ed one PC and one laptop over the years with the latter suffering a catastrophic failure when it decelerated abruptly to 0 mph on the cement floor. I don't know how things went on your end, but I can tell you that while the laptop is falling to the ground in slow motion, whatever I was excited and in a hurry about pretty much instantly felt like a lot less of a priority than it was a few moments prior. On the bright side, whatever complete or semi-complete videos you lost, they're probably gonna turn-out better on the second iteration so as a casual viewer of yours I don't mind the tradeoff of less content for better content for a bit. 😁

Also, what did you mean "two-bay"? I always heard that in several of your vids but what is it describing? Two engines? Two bomb bays? Biplane? But some planes having that feature show otherwise

As an easier to get choice, there is another book, which covers more obscure Japanese aircraft in decent detail, Japanese Secret Projects 2 by Edwin M Dyer III is its name should be easier to get than the two Rex mentioned plus had other aircraft to read about as well :)
