The 3000GT/GTO never seems to get the respect it rightly deserves from the JDM community. There's a Best Motoring video of a GTO MR beating an R32 GTR in a drag race.
Because it wasn't in the Fast and Furious movies. It was never really meant to compete with the Supra or RX-7, it was a GT car not a pure sports car. Look how much nicer the interior is and all of the added electronic extras compared to anything from the 90's Japanese era. The Supra interior is atrocious and an RX-7 is a Miata with turbos.
@@willvr4 i think mitsubishi didn't advertise this car well and gave priority to the lancer evolution series. I'm also skeptical that the engine is as open to modification as the Supra.
@@ahmedislam2580 I literally worked at a performance shop that specialized in the 6g72 engine, it could easily handle over 600hp on a stock engine block before you needed to build out the internals. But that's besides the point. It was a really expense GT car, never really meant to compete with the likes of the Supra/300zx/RX-7/Evo on a track, although it did quite well. It was really competing with the likes of Lexus/BMW/Mercedes but because it was Mitsubishi, it didn't have the same status. The high end models were well over 40k dollars even back in the 90's.
I want more footage!!!! This is the best 3000GT/GTO video I have seen in a very long time. Give these cars the respect and the recognition they deserve. ... is that a SUPRA!!! NO BITCH that’s a VR4, the Japanese Samurai.
I am posting this from Japan. I owned a MITSUBISHI GTO (Japanese name) about 20 years ago. My car had the earlier retractable headlights & red color, so I feel very nostalgic and envious. I hope you continue to take good care of it!
1999 VR4 is one of the most beautiful pieces of automotive engineering i have ever seen, such a shame they are so rare and expensive, id be willing to get an older model if i could get the same front of the 1999 as a bodykit, one of my dream cars for sure.
thanks for making this vid, i may have commented before but its one of my favourites on youtube, i've had a GTO project for 16 years now and when i loose my interest and drive i re-watch this vid to get some motivation thanks again

Glad to be part of this community. Own a 1994 SL in Martinique yellow. Mildly built NA (full exhaust, chromoly flywheel, Short runner intake, 3.5 in TB, vr4 injectors, fuel pump, cal, vr4 front end conversion, coilovers,SS brakelines, abs delete,a.c. delete and more to come). She's not particularly fast but extremely fun.
But the Base model for the Gen ones were really mid level SL(Sport Luxury) on the Mitsu side. Actual Base model only for Stealths in the Gen one..not till gen 2 n Gen 3 that they made a base model of these with Diamond logos aka the SOHC Base level 3000GT(which basically bigger 3g eclipses.
@@markvsmachine5546 But there a confusion about the base model. In gen 1 the base was only technically Stealth cos Mitsu only had mid level SL n The VR-4. Was not till gen 2 n 3 that Mitsu offered a true base model which were SOHC fdw. ALSO the SL in Japan were awd. Just like in Eclipse everyone assumes the GS were the base models..nope it was the RS. Cheerz.
Zack Paris Dude.. I’ve rewatched this video so many times now I have lost count. Just wanted bug you and ask if you ever have plans to do more 3000GT videos or perhaps a part 2. Totally understand if its not gonna happen but I just wanted to ask anyway! Hope all is well man!
I've got a 1992 VR4 and I bought it pretty much as a project. I show up to some shows here in CA, I've actually ran into the guy with the 97_GTO plate, his is what inspired me to clean mine up
Thanks for the video, really nice to see and enjoyed it some awesome cars. Any one interested in these cars and need advice or own them are welcome to come over to the fourm of GTO UK and also the 3000gtplace
P.s. my parents had a twin turbo dodge stealth and since then, that's always been my dream car. That's why I picked one up identical except for the twin turbo version sadly. Nevertheless it's a great car with some balls!
Just picked mine up fellas!! Check it out 1991 3000 gt SL!! With adjustable bucket seats WTF!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XTuLFkum2D0.html
That was a dope documentary. I have one thx to my father. He bought it brand new in 94, and seeing these catz who lust over these cars is truly amazing to see. Keep it up.
Great video from the stock film that you had love the displays of the cars only one thing missing was the sound of the cars would like to have heard that 😊😊 still nicely done ✅
Sou do Brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷!! Continuem assim!! 💪🏼☘️ Saudações do meu país continental BRASIL 🇧🇷!!!
U needed more footage lol man I forgot how much I love this car I neglected mine for 2 years but now im starting to restore it and get it back on the road
They should have made some rear wheel drive versions . THAT gives me an idea of putting in a amg 55 engine in and a rear wheel drive setup or the audi rs4 engine.
You need a transverse mounted engine to easily have two models that are FWD and AWD. It wouldn't work or be cost effective to have a RWD model along with an AWD model.
Thumbs up! Nice job on the video! 👍 Only wish that I would have gone as I know a fair amount of these guys and own a green (oem) 99 VR4 Oh yea, hope you make more vids on this platform 🙂
Its crazy im following every single person in this video on Instagram I bought a 91 3000GT 5 years ago and i don't ever plan on selling it i love it but i have the SL and i paid 4900 for mine
I was walking around town with my mom in 2020 because we had nothing to do we took a walk and it was mid covid so we didn’t want to go anywhere because everything was closed , so while walking around I saw a car that I knew I had saw before somewhere , just sitting in someone’s front yard , I was 15 at the time and I was like holy shit is that a corvette or what is that , so I walked to the edge of the yard and I was like holy shit it’s a 3000gt and I immediately new I wanted one , I was talking to my mom about it the whole way home, I took pictures and sent them to my dad and I said hey dad look , it’s the car you were just telling me about the other day , my dad was telling me cars that he wanted when he was in his mid 20s and 3000gt was one of them so he was excited I found one , he surpireise me one day after school , and took me over to his house to see what he would take for it , the guy came out and said , that it was his car in 2009 in highshooo he had bought it from a old woman and he let it sit for a year and a half before that , and my dad asked how much would he take for it and he said 1200 , this car has no rust , no dents , only thing is some clear coat on the paint , and my dad came back a month later after I got off the bus , we went over to his house he came out , and he said he changed his mind he would take 1,000 for it so my dad saved $200 and after we bought it , it didn’t run so we rolled it onto my cousins trailer and took it to his house , on the way there the car was facing away from the truck with the front bumper away from the tailgate of his truck the car had the moonroof open and it caught wind and blew off and busted all over the road , so my dad took the $200 and bought one from cali , and thats the first thing we put on it , then he bought some gaskets and all the stuff to get it running and had my cousin rebuild it for me , the car had 125k on it , and it ran good , I practiced driving manual in it , and it was a blast , I got it for my 16th hirthday a couple months after it sat in the yard at our house , and i had so much fun driving it , I’ve mildly built it now and I blew the original motor and swapped in a motor from a parts 3000gt my dad bought me , that motor has 167k on it and I put all the gaskets on it and built the na motor mildly with what is accessible for a sl , so that’s the story of my 1995 Mitsubishi 3000gt , I just recently put coils on it and I plan on getting wheels , I am now 18 as of 11/30 and I plan on getting a vr4 and using my 95 as a daily driver , I’ve had a blast since owning this car .
I wanted one of these so bad, but my dad said they have lots of problems and i dont think this specific model has many problems but be cause its a mitsubishi it gets a bad reputation
Nice video. Isnt it interesting how passionate GTO/3000GT owners are about their vehicles. I think you have to be a bit ADD as they really demand a bit of attention. Love the boot lip on the red Gen 1 6YTG223.
Okay, where the heck do I get the wide body kit for these? I've been hunting for a while and the only one I've found was from a guy on Facebook that everyone says is a scammer. The body kit I was referring to is the 1990 GTO (Samurai_GTO). Looking to get it for my GTO but I can't locate a place to buy it anywhere! D:
