This video shows All Wheel Control (AWC) operation in Mitsubishi ASX. The main goal of this presentation is to show torque distribution between front and rear axle during start (front axle with no grip). Area is slightly uphill to make it more difficult.

very nice job, most japanese crossovers would fail this,i think only Mitsubishi and Subaru are different.

Only Honda CRV fails this test (front wheels on rollers), other cars pass it easily.

only mitsubishi has 10 year warranty, also I checked my VIN# and it's start with a J (meaning the car is straight out of a mitsubishi motors plant) both my Outlander 2009 AWC and 2019 AWC now that i check hmm... 2009 still looks and feels like the new ( less sound dampenning tho)

Hi there, quick question: what about 4wd with back wheels on rollers. Will the front have traction or will it be limited due to middle differential. More precisely, if I take the car on a snowy/icy road with snow chains only on front wheels and 4wd enabled will it work or do I need chains on all 4 tyres? Thanks!

Quick answer - there is no middle differential 🙂

@@paulcheteles7161 Yes, definitely. That is fwd biased system, shifting power from front to back.

@@paulcheteles7161 Differential is electronically controlled with limited slip at the wheels so in 4wd auto it should send more power to the front and in 4wd LOCK or LOCK on older models it will tend to send at least half the power or more to the back ( but still electronically controlled) If you have a newer model with 4wd ECO mode instead of the 2wd it'll use the front wheels untill it detects slips or loss of traction at the front then compensate with a bit of momentary torque at the back ( 2016 and up i thnk)

#Rin18 I made these rollers by myself (well, with some help of a few people), if you want to buy "original" ones in a shop, they cost a fortune.

TechTronic9000 Unfortunately there was no time to do new tests this week, but they will be done very soon. There is also comparision with quattro planned.

I will wait, no problem. I have an Outlander but do not have rollers to test it. During winter on snow and ice it has amazig grip and control.

@vavoom Hello, I was wondering if you know if awc (not s-awc) works with the foot off the accelerator (coasting)? So basically I have it in 4wd mode and take a corner that's covered in snow with my foot off the gas. Will the active stability control kick in? Or do I have to give it some throttle for it to work properly? Cause the other day I took a left turn very slowly and it slid on the snow right into the curb. Thanks

+Werewolf AWC works with foot of the gas pedal, but for sure the amount of torque send to the rear is smaller. I do not know how it works with cruise control ON. When it comes to ASTC, it doesn't work below 15 km/h (information from manual), so maybe you were driving slower than that?

+vavoom Very interesting. I was not using cruise control. But thats also an interesting idea. The 15km/h information is probably it. I think I was going slower than that speed.
