I have an MR. Here in OZ. The canopy was the standard one fitted by Mitsubishi. HAd the same issue with the poor fit of the rear window and the opening even when locked. It took two pick-ups from my house and a return to the dealer (round trip of 4 hrs) to get it fived! The first time they said it was all fine and I filmed it and showed to the truck driver who picked it up and said this is the problem. Now, it works fine. Now I'm going to go look out for the cracks you mentioned! Wouldn't even think to look if I hadn't seen this video. Thanks mate.

I’m still amazed people are watching my videos so far away likes of US and OZ…. Thanks for watching firstly 👍🏼 Yes I would imagine the heat in OZ would make this issue even worse, so they use Truckman canopy’s on your trucks? I bet if they don’t will be the same rubbish just branded differently. Lucky my dealer was 5 mins from my house, but had so much of my time wasted with that canopy

Morning Fella. Great video as always. Nice idea about the wheel security device. But I just KNOW I'd forget that was on there & drive off. I've got the AUTOWATCH GHOST 2 immobiliser fitted to mine, a few hundred quid, but well worth it. I've got a different rear canopy on mine, but in the 5.5 yrs of aving it since brand new, I've ad the glass replaced TWICE as the plastic comes unbonded from the glass. I've got the OEM water defence system as you've got, and I'm liking it so far. It does seem to hold the water ingress at bay. If you remember I mentioned aving it fitted to u in one of your previous videos. As I say, I went ahead had it done, and seems to b ok so far. As you say, mine is my pride & joy too. 8.8k in nearly 5.5 yrs.... High days en holidays it goes out 😊😊😊😊😊 Keeo up the great work. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200

Thank you 👍🏼 I was considering getting a Ghost immobiliser fitted, but with the clamp, and keys hidden, they would simple move on to the next, as there is 4 L200 S5 in my small estate to start with. Yeah this canopy has really spoilt a perfect vehicle for me a constant headache, every time I use the truck (like you day trips and holidays) seam to notice something else wrong with it every time, don’t know how Mitsubishi keep using truckman, let’s the vehicles down. I will be back come November, December to have the new glass fitted. Water defence kit no idea why they are not standard fit when canopy is put on.

Me again. Forgot the other bits u mentioned. I've got the OEM LED FOG LIGHT'S too, that I purchased as an add on. As u say, great but of kit. Nice en bright. I've got the ON DOOR FRAME OEM wind deflectors, in 5.5 yrs, ad no problem with the at all. The only reason I like them over the Heko ones is, that they allow u to av the window cracked open more, should u require it without rain getting in. As the Heko one's r quite small in the amount of open window they allow b4 rain gets in. But different horses for different courses en all that. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Alan L200

I have seen the ones your on about, I like those type I was referring to the over sized ones the old shoguns and troopers had on in the 90s. If I get too hot the A/C goes on hate the windows been open at high speeds give me such a bad head, and drives my Hay Fever mad….. saying that I will be about due to change my pollen filter soon. Yes those OEM fog lights are one of my favourite mods, so are the General AT3 tyres, tempted to fit them to my ML as it will be doing a lot of towing, daft as it sounds better on road, but give much needed grip on muddy camp sites

Canopy that I’ve ordered is $4200 (Aust$) and it’s not a Mitsubishi make but by ARB. Apparently here it is being custom made to my Triton. 2012mn.

Had the same problem with the hardtop on mine. All the same problems. My car was supplied by an online broker. The company the broker bought it off tried to pull a fast one. They must had a second hand hardtop sitting around in their workshop. They painted it the same colour as my car and fitted on my truck. When they come to replace all the perished window rubbers you could see where they had not painted some of it. Cut a long story short. They ended up supplying me a brand new hardtop directly from truckman. Which for some reason is a better quality than the ones supplied to Mitsubishi
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE 2 года назад
Yes I ended off getting a so called brand new one direct from truckman what they fitted, still want not impressed with it at all, 3 months of very little use and rubber boots already stating to perish is beyond a joke, not like that are a cheap item over £2000 I’m sure. Truck was fine no issues, but that canopy spoilt the ownership of the truck for me unfortunately
@RichieRich845

Always a problem with the canopy, I bought the original canopy from Mitsubishi it was badly installed, I wasn't happy with it considering the car is brand new. Also when they installed the liner they left the metal shavings from drilling and did cut out the holes for the tie-down just behind the wheel archer's, so the inner bows out. At least with this MQ canopy no water leaks or rust. The MN canopy that i had all the side windows rusted, it leaked from the back window, and the dealer did want to replace it under warranty, until I said the I will call Mitsubishi. The side steps also rust, my driver side rusted, the warranty manager came out to look, he acused me of driving through salty water even though the passenger side was OK, I told the idiot that I wasn't in the habit of driving through salt only on two wheels, he finally replaced both side steps. Now the MQ right side step is starting to rust.
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE 3 года назад
Oh yeah the manager accused me of having paint work done on the canopy, when these bubbles were all over why would I have the whole canopy painted lol. Must admit I enjoyed owning the L200 but the canopy situation really spoilt my ownership. I don’t know how they get away with selling such cheap rubbish for so much

I would much rather them take the thing off, and refund me to go buy a good one…. One that will actually last more than few hundred miles/6 months with out degrading.
@Daedalus_UK
@Daedalus_UK 3 года назад
@@CarAddictGarageNE all the techs complained about them. The plastic clamps are using a 17mm bolt with a plastic clamp that is not rated for the amount of force required to hold the top in place. The do not use other brands as far as I'm aware as those are the cheapest you can get. You would be better off getting a refund and going for a higher quality after market. Also parts like struts came with the tops. You could go direct to manufacturer for part replacement.
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE 3 года назад
Well I’m lucky up to now it’s never cost me a penny….. but I am dreading come March when warranty runs out on canopy. Yes I did see those clamps look typical of the canopy cheep rubbish. Doubt i would ever get a refund, as technically I never paid for it Mitsubishi did when they registered the car new

Just ordered the rain defence kit from Mitsubishi for my truckman canopy, cheers for all the helpful advice mate, you're a legend and sound like a canny lad. I'd never have known they did one, and got the bonnet deflector too, drums are lovely and matt black already. I'm picking it up on Wednesday this week and any experience with the Goodyear Wranglers which are fitted? I'll deffo get the 265's (I think if i remember correctly?) when they're due for new ones like you suggested. Egr delete lead pre-ordered and paid for (week delay, sold out) Love you man, you're awesome
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE Год назад
Yeah I didn’t know they did a water defence kit either until the first night back my almost new truck leaked water into the back, should be fitted standard when canopy fitted. I just went for the general grabber AT3 over the road tyres what were almost new on mine, they just looked rubbish on the truck, think they are 245 on the truck and I went to 255, but it’s popular to go 265 but I didn’t want nothing stupid on mine. EGR box is definitely a good move really improved my MPG

@@CarAddictGarageNE yeah, mine are 245 brand new Goodyear Wranglers. Way too new to replace right now. Have ye sold ya L200? Sorry to hear the niggly issues tarnished ya enjoyment of ownership bud. If so what did you replace it with? Don't say a $h1te Ranger 😉 Played with the super select II, had it stuck in diff lock, couldn't reverse out of work without the tyres screeching (not meaning to) got some funny looks.... didn't realise u had to lift the selector to get it out of diff lock, was chuckling and panicking at same time 😀

Yeah mine were brand new but couldn’t get away how boring they looked, hence I went for the general grabbers. Ah yes the canopy issue was starting to really bug me, didn’t sell the truck because I disliked it, was when the prices went crazy over Covid, had it 12 months and did 6000 miles and got considerably more than I paid for it….. was a no brainier to let it go. Ah no wouldn’t have a ranger, I just decided to set the RU-vid channel up, get a few projects like I have, and the rest went into home improvements. Currently have Jeep Cherokee 3.7 V6 Mercedes ML350 3.7 V6 Citroen ZX Audi A6 Sline 2.7 V6 TDI Nothing flash just projects that I constantly change to keep new content coming

Had the same issues from new in 2017 with my Truckman top, it leaked like a sieve from the tailgate and the seals on the sliding windows leaked . I noticed cracking on the rear window plastic in 2019 but thought it would be a cheap replacement so took no action. When I did contact Truckman mid 2020 they were not interested, product out of warranty, just offered a discount on a new rear screen because the plastic bit is an integral part . I would never buy another Truck-man product again, they are expensive and very poor quality. They could not even identify the canopy from their own label! I use the L200 for transporting my dog, so not huge use of tailgate.
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE 3 года назад
Yes as you can see with mine it’s my pride and job, so gets zero abuse. If your canopy was fitted from new you have a 3 year warranty through Mitsubishi, hence everything done to mine has been free of charge thankfully. I work on cars daily, so just by simply looking at these canopy’s I can tell within seconds how cheap they are. Never had an issue with the truck, but been in countless times about the canopy, so much so it’s spoilt the ownership of the truck. As I know when out of warranty it’s going to be constant yearly expense, unless I change it again been a huge expense £2000 minimum

How do you even check for auto transmission fluid? I can’t find the dip stick anywhere
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE 3 года назад
Must admit been mainly manual series 5 I have worked on, but the series 4 and most other autos have a dipstick, but what I’m seeing more and more now they are doing away with dips sticks even on engine oil now, silly idea. To check properly either will need diagnostic check or sometimes there is a check plug on the auto box sump. Thanks 👍🏼

Hi there! really enjoy your vids! I just bought myself a 2016 l200 and i think the suspension seem very stiff... I can feel every little bump through the car and in the steering wheel. Nothing is broken, i've tried another one who feels just the same. Do i need softer springs or what do you think? My old isuzu Dmax from 07 handles pots n bumps alot better :S

The lock on my l200 truckman hardtop has stopped locking. Can you recommend anywhere around Newcastle to get it fixed?
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE Год назад
From experience with mine you can’t change the lock, you need to change the whole handle. If your meaning the key, not the remote function as that could be an electronic fault
@andrewreed2104
@andrewreed2104 Год назад
@Car Addict Garage North East Yeah I'm willing to change the full handle, whatever I need to get it locking again. It was since the cold snap we had in December, never been the same since. Obviously pull the handle down to open it but now what happens is the handle ends up in the UP position when I'm driving. Just need to know where I can get it fixed or find out what's wrong
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE Год назад
Yeah I don’t think anything can be fixed, unfortunately will been a whole new handle assembly. Mine was changed under warranty, so unfortunately had nothing to do with getting the part or fitting it. But what I would do is contact your canopy manufacturer, they will have the handles, mine was Truckman and they were useless

I just noticed do have headlight washers on your car? Do they automatically turn on if the headlights heat up? I wanted to increase the wattage from 35 watts to 55 watts but hesitated because of the extra heat. I would love to upgrade this feature on my MQ? Do think you can get me some part numbers? I tried here on Australia but could not find any or ebay. Thanks. Rich
@CarAddictGarageNE
@CarAddictGarageNE 3 года назад
They are headlamp washers, they pop out when you push the button or when your lights are on and you clean the screen. Bar cleaning dirt off the lights, they are a legal requirement in the UK if HID headlamps are fitted. They are actually a complex system I would imagine are huge job to retro fit
