When I switched from Pro Tools 2 years ago after using it since the early 90's it was immediately apparent to me that HMB was my new DAW. That import function for Pro Tools was brilliant. I can even get my older Pro Tools 5 sessions using a OS9 emulator. Life is good. Great video Kinghand.

i will never use anything else but Harrison Mixbus i do drum tracks for songwriters and was using Sonar to pro tools, never again, Harrison Mixbus with its analog emulation is 100% sound quality to the real thing its bringing me back to the days when i recorded on tape i been missing it and thank you Harrison mixbus for making my goto plug in folder alot smaller its all there on the channel strip like the real thing

Totally agree. MIxbus has the greatest features and sound, it's so good. Now v.9 is even better !!! I transitioned away from PT and haven't looked back.

I edit in cubase and mix in mixbus... Mixbus gives a summing feeling before mastering. No more outboard except for recording.

Same but Studio one. Record and edit and then send the stems to MB. My mixes sound so much better than I could ever get in studio one for all the years using it.

Mixbus is the best Daw hands down when it comes to sound. I knew it had the best work flow from the beginning and once Harrison worked out all of the Kinks over the years made it well worth having as my virtual console.

Might want this in conjunction with Studio One Pro because I do like the drive saturation. I’d want that on my beats.

I'm not a fan of the MixBus DAW UI (workflow is difficult), but... Using the separate Channel and Bus Channel plugins (AU, VST3) in Logic Pro gives me the best of both worlds.

Well. I use to think the same. But they are not the same. Those plugins sound different from Mixbus. Otherwise, I'll keep on using Protools

i am always blown away how much better a song sounds if I mix in mixbus. But my process is always create a clean pre mix in ableton, export the stems, mix it in muxbus and again master it in ableton. And it is always better if I do it, which i should do more often

What i hear is 2 different mixing decisions in 2 DAWS that sound the same from the start. The mixes will sound different because the fx are differents, but you could achieve that warm sound of Mixbus in Protools!
@kinghandlee
@kinghandlee Год назад
I use the same plugins on each channel of both DAWs and tried my best to match them. The difference is the difference. I wanted to keep using Protools more than you imagine. You don't know how hard it is to switch my primary DAW. You think I could achieve that warm sound But I can't. Because warmth is not even the major difference. The High frequency response and the headroom are. You can try it by yourself.
@dontstealfocus
@dontstealfocus Год назад
@@kinghandlee This is the big problem : you tried to match the plugins but at the end the settings are not exactly the same. And you use the Mixbus Eqs, comps, saturations that Protools don't have (and the Harrison 32C channel strip plugin don't sound like the Mixbus 32C channel strip). So we are hearing differences of mix decisions (the differences of eqs, comps, saturations, level...). A sound from Protools will completely null with its duplicate in Mixbus in a null test when you don't use fx. I know it's not easy to switch DAWS but i think you could get roughly the same mix in Protools if you take your time to understand the differences but at the end you use the DAW that suit you more and get the job done quicker but some people will be able to have roughly the same mixes in either Protools or Mixbus. I route tracks from Protools to Mixbus and they sound exactly the same, now since the Mixbus eq have its own curve, the comp its own sound etc, with them we have differences but you can still reproduce them closely with other plugins beside that the 2 DAWS sound the same. I love Mixbus but i think many poeple fool themselves by thinking that it have a special sound from the start.
@kinghandlee
@kinghandlee Год назад
@@dontstealfocus Well, I have used Protools for over 20 years. And this is the first month I use Mixbus. Don't You think I should know more about Protools and what it's capable of? And if you really did the null test and Protools has the result as Mixbus. I have to say, either you lied or you did this by a wrong way. I will prove this in my future video.

I stumbled in via another mixbus video from you. In fact a "video from the future". ;-) Here again I have to say something is wrong. Comparing these two versions: Yyou have for example on a specific moment peak level 9.5 (on my Kaz Meters) on the left channel in mixbus while 7.8 in PT. In that moment the other channels were 6.8 right channel mixbus and 8.2 PT. So it seems a little balance shifting going on here. Secondly I noticed the overall level is not exactly matched (but that is nearly impossible I guess). We talk about 0.5dB or less. So no offence. ;-) Mixbus does a little more saturation to the tracks it seems. This generates more high freqs as well because of harmonic overtones. BUT you could get that sound on any DAW, i f you know how to get there and what sound you finally want to create. 🙂

Still cpu hungry. No channel eq zoom per channel. Meters lag on Mac...slight but obvious. Ive supported them for years but it won't ever be a contender until they ditch Ardour but they won't. I do want it to be great. As buggy as MB has been and the slight marketing bs they should charge 19.99 for the update.

@@kinghandlee I love it....but it's always buggy. If they would attempt to work with the coders at cockos it would absolutely be the game changer. Harrison support is top notch but can you imagine the performance some reaper guys could pull out of it? Like oversampling on certain channels for one.

The intuitive workflow of Mixbus32c V9 is untouchable. The inherent EQ (w hi/low pass filters), compressor, gate, tape saturation, and pan-able quick bus assigns in the channel strips make sense. And they should as anyone who has ever mixed on a real analog desk would attest. But in the end, it is all personal choice. for me, I switched for the intuitive workflow and sound (sonic character if you will), that is unique to Mixbus32c
