I own Twin 2 and was waiting for Twin 3 to drop for years.After watching quite a few videos of Twin 3 I'm not impressed.I 100% agree with your review.Pigments does a petter job in my op.

I feel the same. Owning synths like Synthmaster, Hive etc. Twin3 feels like just another subtractive VA synth to me. Oh and I forgot beasts like Vital and Pigments ....

Totally agree with your "plugin fatigue" comment.. Perhaps if they added a sample import function to complement the analog waveforms, the parameters, effects and modulation would come alive..

I like it. It has so many options for modulation and filtering. But... and this is purely subjective of course, the overall sound seems to "sit back" somehow -- it *is* super smooth sounding. I think that is its core strength. But like you, it just doesn't "grab" me. But, I must remember that there are times when I need that really smooth, creamy texture in the arrangement. Will probably purchase the upgrade because, well it is FabFilter, and I'm a FabFilter devotee.

I agree with this, especially the sounds with just one or two oscillators the more cleaner and simple sounds, are terrific, so smooth warm and clean.

demoing right now. In the presets there is no sound that calls me. In many RU-vid demos there isnt no sound that that i really like. But... this thing has some funcionality that others do not have. Sure i'll get many sounds out of it. 😊

The only benefit for the release of twin 3 is that it may result in a Dan Worrel video Lol. Outside of that, really: who cares…?

He has made a bunch of presets for this synth. Mainly pretty simple sounding drum patches… that were no doubt crazy complicated to make!

Great review man. Twin 3 is yet another tool that I would like to have gotten to know, but the interface is too damn dark and just flat out weird. Not for me at all.

I think maybe the presets are crappy, so you really need to spend time tweaking it to get good results, plus Twin 2 sounds just as good to me.

I’m normally a day 1 adopter of anything new from fabfilter. But I own everything but their synths. I just already own too many soft synths and good candidates for any use case. I’d like to see them revamp pro-ds into something like soothe 2 or add multiband gating to pro g. Love their FX but as for the synth, I can do far more with phaseplant

5:33 fully agreed, the world already has enough virtual analogs, I think if fabfilter had gone for a different kind of synth altogether (Spectral manipulation, inharmonic sound creation!) it would have been so much more unique

I am sure it can be really great when you really learn all the features. I haven't tried it myself, but actually prefer how Vital works(based on what I see of Twin 3) which is free. I can be wrong, but I think it's will be hard for Fabfilter to compete with other synths on the market.

Good many controls. But the sounds do not have the richness or depth. Not inspiring. Probably design limited to reduce CPU load. A NO for me. Regards.

Twin2 was pretty much unusable by modern standards. Yes Twin3 is good, but it's late to the party, so it will never be awe inspiring. For anyone who could be bothered with Twin2, it will be welcome.
