So very cute! Found you a couple of days ago. I've been binge watching since. Never thought of using my mixed media art supplies on fabric before. I love the combination of sewing using fabric I painted. Thanks again for sharing your creativity!

Hi Carol, I am so glad you are enjoying the videos. I use to collect art supplies but never used them-LOL. I stopped hoarding them when I merged sewing and mixed media! It's a lot of fun!

Hi Marian, It is always so good hearing from you. I know you must be melting down in FL but we are freezing up here in MN. It barely made it into the 60's this weekend. Cool and rainy! Have a great week! Julia

Thanks so much for watching Cheryl. I hope to do a series of "art play on fabric this year". So much of it is trial and error but it's a lot of fun! Julia

are really gorgeous, I love bright colors as much as you do! Can you still get the MPC anywhere? Or do you use the blackout cloth instead? I just wonder cuz it seems similar, and I just bought some of the blackout cloth to experiment with.

I have had some roc lon and been wondering what to do with it. Great Idea. One question: since Derwent is water activated, what do you use to seal the fabric.
@stitchesbyjulia
@stitchesbyjulia 4 года назад
Hi, The Inktense by Derwent are permanent once they are activated and dried. I do like to activate with fabric medium instead of water. It helps keep the fabric softer.

Julia, can you tell me how well this MPC fabric holds up when using as a painted exterior on a purse. Thank you. Love your videos !!!

Hi, The MPC is unfortunately discontinued. It was so much fun to work with. I found that it held up well. Thanks so much for watching my videos:)

Can you use any kind of stiff room blackening liner fabric? So pretty!
@stitchesbyjulia
@stitchesbyjulia 2 года назад
Hi patti, Yes, you can. The product that I used in this video is now discontinued. I'm now using another drapery lining. It's not as stiff but still takes paint well and does not fray. Thanks for watching!

I found you online recently and have really been enjoying your tutorials. I'm confused though about heat setting. Does it have to do with the medium that you choose to apply color with? Or the fact that you use fabric medium? None of my products say anything about heat setting. Thanks a bunch for your help. Lori

Hi Julia. I subscribed recently and I like very much your work. I love all what you do. You are such an inspiration to me😊 . Question : I went to look for the cloth and I cant find it with Dick Blick, can you guide me to find it please? . Also, can I know what kind of Serger you are using for this project? Thank you so much for sharing your great inspirations. I love all of them 💕💕💕

Hi Adriana, Thank you so much for subscribing. I am so glad you are enjoying the videos! Here is the amazon link to multi-purpose cloth. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JKG2UB2/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 They are out of stock on this product at the time. Also, Dick Blick is also out of stock. Not sure what is going on. My serger is a Janome. I've had it for 8-9 years. Happy creating, Julia

Julia, I just found your channel and love your work. I would like to know what size needle do you use for this fabric? Thanks, for sharing and keep going I am a new subscriber.
@stitchesbyjulia
@stitchesbyjulia 6 лет назад
Hi Janet, I use a sharp #14. Before working on the MPC, I like to change to a new needle. MPC is quite dense and it needs a sharp needle. It's great to paint on and I love that it doesn't fray. So glad you found my channel! Happy stitching-Julia

I got some of the Roc-Lon MPF & gelli printed it this week. It’s still ver soft & floppy. Not at all stiff. Did I not do something right? Maybe not enough paint? Oh, love the pencil case & journal cover! They are fabulous!
@stitchesbyjulia
@stitchesbyjulia 6 лет назад
Hi Sue, The MPC is stiff even without paint. I've only seen one weight but maybe there are different weights. The original stuff weights 13-13.5 ounces per square yard and is 70% polyester and 30% cotton. Hope this helps. Julia
@suerichardson1207
@suerichardson1207 6 лет назад
Thanks for the reply! Looks like what I got is about half that weight 😩. Mine is 6-7.9 oz/yd. That would explain it! I ordered from Amazon, so will check Dick Blick (I think that was your source). I’ll use what I have for something for sure. Keep the tutorials coming! I’m learning so much - thank you!

I found the fabric in Dick Blick and ordered a piece that was 1yd by 72" The price was $18 and plus $ reg. shipping cost of $4.95. So the order total was $23 and some odd cents. I should receive delivery in aprox. 6 days. No luck with Amazon.

Hi Phyllis, You are going to have fun experimenting with the MPC. Years ago, I worked at a fabric store and we sold this cloth as a black-out drapery lining fabric. I haven't found it at a fabric store for a while. Thanks for watching, Julia

I have looked all over and cannot find the fabric. Not sure if it's similar to duck canvas or being sold as a Roc-Lon heavy muslin. HELP PLEASE.

Hi, As of a month ago, I haven't been able to find it either. My roll is gone. I have purchased it in the past from Amazon and Dick Blick. I am going to continue trying. Both sites say they are "out of stock in this item"

Hi Stephanie, Unfortunately Roc-lon has discontinued the MPC. They have a lighter version (called blackout lining) that I am now using. It takes paint and stamping well and does not fray. Here is a link:www.onlinefabricstore.net/roclon-budget-blackout-white-white-drapery-lining-fabric-.htm Here is an example of one of the pouches I made out it: www.etsy.com/listing/770301533/boxy-zippered-pouch-hand-painted-art-bag?ref=shop_home_active_12&frs=1 Hope this helps.
