(Webinar) Mixed methods is a research methodology in which a researcher collects and analyzes data, integrates the findings, and draws inferences using both qualitative and quantitative approaches or methods in a single study. Various mixed methods designs have emerged in the literature. Research designs are the specific procedures for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting a study’s findings, and these have distinct names and procedures associated with them. Once the researcher has identified that their research problem calls for a mixed methods approach, the next step is to choose the specific design that best fits the problem and the research questions of the study. With an understanding of the core mixed methods designs in hand, researchers are then equipped to choose and describe the design that is best suited to address their stated research problem. Because the audience for this presentation is primarily graduate students the goal is to provide a limited number of practical and feasible ways of conducting a mixed methods study within the parameters of graduate research. To learn more about the various opportunities for designing a feasible mixed methods study, join Dr. Linda Bloomberg on October 10, 2023, author of “Completing Your Qualitative Dissertation: A Road Map from Beginning to End” (SAGE, 2023).
