Loved that you made a cake with the mixer! Most videos just make some sort of bread or dough. I'm considering adding an Ank to my mixer collection, but it would have to do more than dough to justify the cost. Thanks for the video!

You don’t want the roller bang up against the side. When it does that you should move the roller out away from the side of the bowl. Also, I don’t think the bread dough would have climbed out of the bowl if you had moved the roller away from the side of the bowl as the dough was thickening up? I just ordered an Ank for my birthday present from my husband. So I have watched a lot of videos about how to use the Ank. But thank you for showing three recipes in the time you had.

I got my Ankarsrum in 2017, after having used the KitchenAid stand mixer for 15 years and have never looked back. I've found I can mix EVERYTHING using the stainless steel bowl, even creaming butter. It is a workhorse and I LOVE it!

hi, how you do it? i tried creaming butter with it but failed, do u have any tricks to do it?
@lostmagicofdisney
@lostmagicofdisney Год назад
@@inma5665 Make sure the butter is softened and cut it into smaller squares. Also, wait a minute or two for the machine to grab the butter and begin creaming it.

@@lostmagicofdisney thank you for your response, i'll try it again, i have a doubt, what exactly do you mean about "the machine to grab the butter"? do i start with the arm at the edge of the bowl or in the center?
@lostmagicofdisney
@lostmagicofdisney Год назад
@@inma5665 That's a great question. I let the roller run along the bowls edge while the scraper keeps sweeping the butter away from the sides to be grabbed by the roller again and again.

Okay 👍 😅 apart from the ending, which I found very funny, they both did it really well and explained it technically very good. Just got mine and it helped! Unfortunately I missed the dough hook. I've found miserable, terrible product reviews and instructions so far. This post was technically one of the best. Good job

You may want to watch Bread Beckers, Amy Learns to cook and Chocolate Box Cottage. I have had my Ank for a couple of years and make all my bread with it. As the flour is added the dough can rise quite quickly so keep an eye on it and move the roller an inch from the edge. That produces a gentle working of the dough like you were using your hands. by then, you should have a wheel like shape. I have found that the best place to add the flour is in the middle of the ring, next the roller. That keeps it from being lopsided smoothly doing its job. when you add flour outside the ring, you will see it become uneven so I learned this through trial and error. I never use a high speed, maybe 3 at the most just to get it started. Also with higher hydration doughs, I give it a little rest of 5 minutes or so to let it absorb the moisture. Put a timer on as it will start to rise if you forget about it. Enjoy your machine! I would never part with mine!

You used too much flour and did not adjust the arm. That is what makes that type mixer so awesome. Typical new user mistakes. Fun to watch and hear your opinions.

Very nice demo🎉. This mixer is a tank for any baking task but there is a learning curve when using the roller attachment. When kneading dough the roller leans and spins with the bowl for the wet ingredients and as you begin to add the dry ingredients the kneading arm attached to the roller needs to be gradually adjusted away from the edge of the bowl as the dough begins to expand as the gluten develops. That would prevent the spill which happened while you were mixing your last batch of bread. I had to look at several tutorials to understand how this mixer works. Overall your demo was done very good and I liked how you both explained everything while using it. 🎉

You mentioned how much more gentle the kneading of the roller is compared to the Bosch at the lowest speed. My 20-year-old Bosch also gets the dough too hot during the kneading process. Way warmer than it should be. It may be time to retire it and get an Ankarsrum. Thanks for the video!

I have not been able to find a comparison video for Ankasrum vs Bosch. Would love to see a side by side and walk through to really compare. Trying to decide between the two

There are videos out there in RU-vid comparing the two! Also, there is a woman who has used the Bosch for years and recently got an Ankarsrum. I’ll see if I can find the link 👉🏼 Here is the woman who has a Bosch and bought and replaced it with the Ankarsrum. She kept her MINI-Bosch because she and her husband live in a travel trailer. It’s a slow progressing video, but helpful, and she seems nice as well as very experienced. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h-Ll6t1ob3c.htmlsi=sJ6-tR2NgMKjvvQX Also; “America’s Test Kitchen” compares the two, along with others, on RU-vid. They write “Cook’s” magazine. 💐

@@shervin6711 My daughter’s best friend is a professional baker on the side, pediatric hospice nurse full-time. She loves the Ankarsrum for its quiet, ability to easily add priduct to the bowl while it’s running , watch the dough, and the colors. Both Bosch and Ankarsrum are excellent machines, but I have to say the Ank is incredibly if not insanely quiet, fast, and absurdly easy to use. Super easy to clean too! May you choose what’s best for you!

@@GodsSparrowSpeaks I did choose the Ankasrum. It is very different, I am still working with it experimenting. Hopefully this will be handed down to the next generation!

@@shervin6711 Hello there! Yes, it is very different. Both in looks and function. It has been a huge learning curve for me because I’ve always made bread by hand rather than with a machine, and never had a KitchenAid. (I’ve been told I’m blessed to not have been tormented with a KA mess LOL) But it’s been an even bigger learning curve because I live at 7500’ altitude 😬 AND… we started milling our own flour, which affects EVERYTHING! I wrote to Ankarsrum because my first set of bread loaves were dense, and first set of cookies came out flat - both with recipes that normally come out well when made by hand. As Ankarsrum is at sea level, they wrote back that they suggested I go to King Arthur Flour’s website for High Altitude suggestions. Helpful. I also ordered Sue Beckers BreadBecker “Home-Ground Flour Book” spiral teaching/cookbook. I think the hardest thing for me was not ordering an American icon with adorable bowl options- but their ratings have gone down drastically, stating they do not last more than a year or two and cannot handle stiff dough without voiding their warranty! There was no point in spending money if it wasn’t going to handle a couple loaves of bread, not last longer than a year or two, have a crappy warranty, and be made in China anyway. The Ankarsrum has an excellent warranty and is made in Sweden. Entirely. By hand. Funny looking, but a workhorse, and most definitely easier to load, and easy to clean! I hope you love it! Now, to pronounce it… 😜
