thank you for the tips .. love the paint cleaning tech never thought to do it like that .. wish you would have had this when you first started teaching me... really helps with us newbies trying to learning the consistency of what strength our paint should look. !! Are you going to be teaching a whole baby tutorial ?

I'm watching videos about making Reborns, I see comments about doing "neutralizers" after a wash of paint has dried. What product is that? Also, does a doll require neck rings and plugs? I don't know what those are. Are they important and necessary? Thank you, thank you.

I'll to to explain that as simple as possible. Neutralizing is a process of color correction, not a product. Opposite colors of the color wheel to get a neutral shade. For example, if your kit is bright yellow, doing layers of purple will bring it to a neutral brown. As far as rings and plugs, they aren't necessary, they are just an easy item to use. Plugs go into the ends of limbs to hold all the glass beads and polyfil in. You can just glue a round on the end instead though. Rings go around the flanges for extra stability and easy turning of the head and limbs. I sometimes use rings, other times I just do a layer on the inner flange with clear nail polish, which allows easy turning. So they are nice to have and work well, but there are other alternatives.

@@ebornsrebornsoh, that’s cool! Dolls by Sandie taught me that you can also use fast drying super glue on the flanges so then you don’t have to use rings, and I love it!

@PlayerTenji95 That's what I used to use and a lot of artists I know use that too! I only prefer the nail polish now because it has a brush, I accidentally had a super glue drip incident years ago, so now it makes me nervous. But it works really well for turning!

The ones I use (Genesis Heat Set paints) are discontinued, but some places still have some left in stock. Like macphersoncrafts.com and bountifulbaby.com You will also need an oven, like a nuwave or similar type. Odorless mineral spirits and then there's mediums and varnishes. You don't need all the mediums, only if you want certain effects. If you just want to see if it's for you I would just get paints, matte varnish, Odorless mineral spirits and the oven to bake. Mediums are pretty expensive, and you don't need them just to start. You'll also need a pallet, paint brushes, sponges, cosmetic wedges, etc...

I use kleanstrip odorless mineral spirits, which you can find at most hardware stores, Walmart, etc... You can also use Mona Lisa odorless mineral spirits, Gamsol and a few others that you can find online

@@ebornsreborns Oh, thank you for the reply. I am brand new at this. I haven't even received my first unpainted baby yet. I also ordered two tiny ones to practice on. I'm nervous and don't want to wreck it. Financially I'm on a short leash, and if I ruin it, I'll give it up forever. I want to make some baby dolls for a local nursing home. The ladies there are precious and have memories of a long ago life that included looking after their new littles. Every now and then, if I have a question, can I write it on one of your vids? I promise I won't be a burden. I don't know anyone in real life that does this.

@8journey8 Absolutely you can! I actually have a lot of people that private message me asking for feedback, feel free to comment here or message me on Facebook if you want to send pics with questions or anything. My Facebook link is in all my video descriptions. I wish you luck and hope I can help!
