The MV is full of metaphors that describe how it feels like to live with a mental illness. Joohoney lives in a world that is all black and white. There are no colors, no happiness in his life. He runs around the field but is surrounded by smoke that blocks his vision. He is trying to find an escape but he can't see a way to get out of the state he's in. But even though he feels exhausted he still keeps trying. He's not giving up. The children at the end represent hope for a better future. He still has hope that everything will eventually be okay again

this ‘smoky’ song looks like his battle for defeating himself at that time. it’s like battling with yourself, holding everything alone, bearing the pain, making your self dull with the pain and feelings. crying out for someone’s help, in urge of blocking all the ‘noise’ (comments), wanting anyone to grab your hand and make sure you’re safe with them. remember years ago when Jooheon went to hypnosis and turns out he was a tiger at a circus? just like his life now, being chained with the ‘idol’ image of perfection which is burdensome i bet until he become dull, tired, hurt, even felt that he needs help. but then, he said that at that time, when he was a tiger, there were children looking him, being fascinated with his performance. the part when some children singing the bridge (“ohh” part) and reff part (“smoky i’m trying to start again, smoky i’ll take all the pain” part), it reminds me a lot about this story. it’s like he trying to find his future by remembering that there are ‘children’ looking at him, fascinated, waiting for his other performance. and i hope, monbebes will be that ‘children’, who are waiting for his performance, giving him strength to perform, and grabbing his hand, helping, be with him, while walking together out from the smoky place, being each others reason to hold on and smile. let’s be happy together, jooheon, monsta x, and monbebes EDIT : I NEVER THOUGHT MY COMMENTS WILL HAVE A LOT OF LIKES AND REPLIES. it is a crime that the entire psyche album was marketed as a mixtape and not as an official debut album, because the whole EP is amazing!! (dia is my personal favorite track, but smoky is really special and heartwarming)

The video was recorded in one take, which means that there are no editing cuts that is very cool because it doesn't interrupt the artist in his performance, due to the fact that it is in black and white, dark clothes and the artist's expressions really make you conveys the feelings that this person has, the video is really like the best way the artist / person was able to express themselves

I imagine if one day Jooheon performed this song on stage with a children's choir and accompanied by an orchestra. I'm cryingggg

I'm so proud of Joohoen for being open and honest with us. Too many Idols are told to ignore it and they keep pushing them to their breaking point. We've lost too many Idols and individuals around the world to suicide. I think it's important for people to know it's ok to talk about our mental health, to get meds if needed, and to talk to a counselor as well. Join a group therapy program if that helps you too. I always say Be the Light in Someone's Darkness.. well Joohoen and his raw honesty was mine tonight. 💜💜💜

When he said ”no one can hurt you now”, it had me messed up. I started crying. And when the kids started singing, it added even more emotional layers. The guitar in this track really shined and added to that darkness and sadness. There's something so somber, disturbing and dark about this song. It's a song about picking yourself up and pushing through the darkness, but it's so much sadness in this song too. Rap songs like this really mess me up. Jooheon did wonderfully. I wish people who are struggling would find this song. Not just his fans but everyone who is going through something rn or who has gone through something in the past. I can relate to this song so much. Even if you don't understand 100% of what he is saying, you can feel it through his emotions and his passion.
