I'm glad someone else is saying this! I've heard people say that the D-pad is fine, but I think it's the best D-pad I've ever played with.

Its 100% way more premium my anbernic feels like a toy compared to the Miyoo+ also the screen is better and theres WiFi for 2 player games retro achievements and or pokemon trading and other link cable/2 player capabilities

@@TamagoSarada_ R u sure about the link cable capabilities? Usually Netplay doesn't work that way, except if you use SameBoy and a complicated configuration. That being said, RG35XX vs. MM+ is basically just HDMI vs. WiFi. So it's up to everyone to decide what's more desired.

@@TarikA i agree it would have its troubles but apparently with the new Onion OS thats one of the capabilities. And yes! Everyone should choose their own device I personally have both, i take my anbernic for travel and my MM+ just around my house

Yeah, the WiFi capabilities has to be seen to be believed. I bought the RG35XX for the practical form factor and the HDMI out.

There's no link cable possibility with any retroarch based handheld, including the Miyoo Mini Plus. In sorry, it's just not possible. Check the retroarch documentation for confirmation.

You can easily add your own games by dragging them into the right folders on the SD card!

In my experience this only happens with the stock SD card and other cheaper SD cards. I'd recommend switching to a SanDisk SD card. I have never had this problem since switching.

No, this will most likely never be possible. RetroArch has never supported it.

It's for those RPG games. It's really easy and comfortable to play 1 hand on the 1st Miyoo Mini.

That was the Miyoo Mini's defining feature. It was excellent for ooayng JRPGs with one hand!

It comes with a Micro SD Card with a LOT of games pre-loaded on it, ready to play. I wouldn't necessarily recommend using it though. It's gonna be some no-name brand SD Card that could very well break pretty quick. Hell, I saw one video yesterday where someone tried to copy the contents from that SD Card to a new one, and the original SD Card got corrupted like, 10 minutes later. I'd recommend at least buying a new SD Card and copying the stuff over from the one it comes with. But even more-so, I'd just recommend providing your own game roms. They're all kinda named weird on the card it comes with, where most games have gotten a number added to the front of the file name, so you'll have thousands of games, but it'll be a pain in the ass to actually find the game you're looking for. On top of that, a lot of the games are repeats, just, from multiple regions. So you might have the same game 6 different times, for 6 different regions. AND, some games that only have one copy, aren't always in English. Add to that that there's also bootleg rom hacks and things in there, at least in the NES section. The kinda stuff you'd see on a shitty $5 famiclone. (It has legit games too, but still, that's more junk to sort through). Personally, I bought a 128gb micro sd card from Samsung, and supplied my own roms (and installed OnionOS). I used the card it came with just long enough to test out the console and make sure it worked right. A 128gb micro sd card on Amazon is like, $10-11.

Just follow the stock updates telegram and twitter, or buy through a reseller. It's really not that hard to get hold of. The stock issues are hugely overblown with the mini plus.

It varies depending on where you buy it and whether an SD card is included. You should always be prepared to bring your own games.

I assume when mentioning a "hard case", people mean that zip up black and red one that the original Miyoo Mini came with? Because I find it odd. They still clearly make 'em, or at least someone does. I bought mine a couple days ago on Amazon. Spent $80 (I was gonna end up spending about $73+shipping anyway, and Amazon gets me free prime 2-day shipping, so why not?). But, see, mine didn't come with the fancy slide-out cardboard box. Mine instead came inside that very same Miyoo Mini 'hard case', but sized for the Plus, with everything you normally get in the box, placed into the hard case. So they still clearly MAKE the hard cases, it's weird that they don't come with 'em normally. Then again, the entire packaging for the Miyoo Mini Plus almost feels random at times. Before getting mine in the mail (and even after), I watched a bunch of Miyoo Mini Plus videos, and most of 'em were unboxing and first impression videos. Thing is, almost every unboxing I saw, SOMETHING was different. Some got a cardboard box, some got the case, some got both. The Micro SD card it comes with is different a lot too. Some being solid black with basic numbers printed on it, some being labeled as a generic "game card", and mine was even Miyoo branded. Same goes for the SD Card Reader it comes with. I've seen like 3-4 different colors, some have writing, some have different writing, mine is solid black with no writing at all. I've also seen some come with sticker decals for the front of the console, and most don't come with those. It almost feels like they're just including whatever they happen to have lying around. Side note: I actually really like the hard case mine came with. It's not special, it's near-identical to any other random hard case you can buy on Amazon for retro handhelds and things. But, it's still neat with the Miyoo name and logo on it, and it still works well. Also, having a case makes me more likely to take it out and around with me.

I have both, and personally I much prefer the Mini+. It's what I physically want to hold more.

And more importantly, they used a more readily available and common screen. So, despite the stock issues when the Plus first released, it shouldn't have has big of a stock problem as the original Miyoo Mini, where they apparently had issues getting enough screens to meet demand.

It absolutely does NOT connect to the TV OR support wired controllers. You'll want the RG35XX for both of those capabilities (TV out works great but controller support is iffy in my experience)

I'm pretty sure you will be able to use the Mini's SD card in the Mini+ and it should work perfectly without changes. I think the only thing that could possibly change is the theme setting (if you use a custom theme), but once you reselect your preferred theme everything will look the same.

I've seen one on reddit, that's all I've personally seen though.

Happened to me. LCD separated from the backlight and hangs from the case...

Oddly enough, there are no Mario games at all on either of my stock SD cards.

Apparently earlier Miyoo Mini Pluses had Mario and Pokemon on the SD Card, but they got removed for some reason. As if they even remotely care about copyrights or anything.

Yeah, I was actually concerned that it was going to be too small before I got it. I ALMOST went with the Anbernic RG35XX instead, simply due to it being a bit taller to give my hands more room. But, I saw the Miyoo had Wifi and the Anbernic didn't, and OnionOS has been around longer. So I went with the Miyoo. I figured there wasn't THAT big of a size difference. And even then, I can play on a GBA SP just fine still, so I figured the Miyoo wouldn't be all that bad. Turns out, I was right. It's fine. Could use a bit more 'chin' on the bottom, but not having it doesn't make it uncomfortable to use, it just could be MORE comfortable if it were bigger. But it's still fine how it is.

@@TXFDA A 3D-printed grip definitely helps a lot. However I have to be honest, even with the MM+ (without grip) I don't feel good playing longe than 1 hour. Just got myself an RG405M which is much better now. Out of all 4:3 devices out there, it's the most premium one. Just wish it had Onion. (there's Garlic around the corner for it though)

Probably depends on hand size and preference. So it's hard to say. I've seen some say it's still a bit awkward to hold, even though much better than the original Miyoo Mini since it's bigger and thicker. But also like this guy who says it's no problem. Personally I don't think it'll be an issue for me, but it's gonna take another week or maybe 2 before I do get my hands on it.

I'm ashamed to say I had a 4-hour session today with no discomfort. It's really great for me personally.

@@thenonexistinghero Like you guys said, it depends on the individual. I really want to get one of these handhelds, but when I see the dpad so close to the bottom of the device, I think of the switch. It was a pain in the ass playing games like Mega Man and Cup Head while holding the back of it with just the index and middle fingers.

@@SP-vl1jh Can't say I have an issue with the Switch pro-controller's Dpad position, but the Dpad of that controller is pretty awful. The Dpad for the joy-con is even more awful sadly. But that aside... the Switch often seems to suffer from having the highest input delay out of all of the consoles. Worse than the Wii U counterparts most of the time as well. This makes retro games in general feel pretty unresponsive. Works fine for MM11, but not so much for the classic MM games, IMO.

@@thenonexistinghero Oh, yeah. I meant playing on portable mode. The pro controller is fine. I had some dpad issues with the pro controller when I first bought it, but it's been fine since then.

Yeah it's strange. It seems almost random whether you get it in a box or a case.

The point is to prevent the actual screen from getting scratched and scuffed. Same as any screen protector. If you think you can keep it from getting scratched or scuffed, then you don't need to worry about it.

My screen fell right off on day one. I had Miyoo ship me a replacement 😢

It's really not difficult to get them, and Miyoo took some good steps to prevent bots. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the stock alert telegram or twitter, or purchasing through a reseller. It's a little unfair to blame the manufacturer for the retailer's problems!

I bought one very easily just following the telegram group and twitter. No bots, just my fingers and my iPhone.

You should of got it from keepretro. It was available for a few days. Also you'll be fine. They'll be more on stock because of the normal screen size.

The included games may vary, sellers-to-seller. You should always be prepared to bring your own games.

Unfortunately you should never rely on included games. Realistically these emulator systems should never come with games (very illegal) and yes, the included games are usually very poor (mine is full of ROM hacks and Chinese language games). I really recommend building your own game collection instead. It's no more complicated than doing an internet search for the rom you want and dropping it into the correct folder. I'll have a beginner guide video out soon that should help.

Yeah, like Breeze said, I wouldn't rely on the SD Card it comes with. For one, it's gonna be a no-name brand cheapo card. Cheaply made cards aren't very reliable and are prone to breaking or corrupting. And two, yeah, the game list isn't great. Everything's numbered, making it pretty much mandatory to use the search function instead of just scrolling to the game you want. There's duplicates all over the place from different regions. And there's crappy bootlegs and rom hacks mixed in, at least in the NES section. Not to mention the games that only have one version, but it's not in English. I personally bought a 128gb micro sd card at the same time I ordered the Miyoo. First thing I did was install OnionOS, and copy my own list of roms over. Then used Skraper on my PC to scrape all my thumbnails/box art.

This was my very first impression video, made in about two hours since unboxing. Obviously there's more to explore with the device, but my first impression is positive. This is by no means a conclusive review (which will come eventually).

I am seeing more and more people having issues with the screen falling off and other quality control issues. Might be worth delving deeper into that and comparing against RG35XX. I get mine soon too so fingers crossed.

I often play mine whilst doing other things. Vacuuming, cooking, anything that leaves me with one hand free! Its just super convenient and let's me play at times I otherwise wouldn't.
