Keep in mind that Mizore is an introvert and bad at communication in general. However, she spent 2 years with Kumiko in the band so she knows about Kumiko’s skill. The talented musicians can recognize their own kind but also discern other people’s skill. Mizore didn’t exactly say: “you’re not good enough for my university, Kumiko”. She was saying: “I can’t picture you being here because you don’t seem to want conservatory music as a career”.
What Mizore said may sound rude but it has a different meaning. Basically she meant that Kumiko can't dedicate her whole life just for concert band. Mizore and Reina have mindset of dedication for their passion. Mizore must have noticed that Kumiko has some other priorities in her life other than just concert band. This is why she said that she can't imagine her to be there in her university.
We see that in what the characters do for the band. Mizore, Kousaka, even Asuka, are passive, they keep a distance from people, don't really connect and socialize. Asuka can balance things and put up fronts, but when it comes to band drama and issues, she isn't proactive and says she doesn't care. Kumiko however, isn't solely devoted to her instrument, she's always getting involved in people problems, mediating, listening, feeling, she has greater empathy and concern and care. Whether or not she's successful with that or does everything right is another thing, but that's what sets her apart from pretty much everyone else. Perhaps as a result, her musicianship is sacrificed, she's not quite like Kousaka or Kuroe. But that's at least what I admire about Kumiko.
@@hui-an-xin yes, Kumiko is very people-oriented empathetic person, she is actually ambiverted character. She is suited with the music teacher role than a dedicated band musician because of her ability to connect with others. She can easily connect with her students and encourage their dreams.
By the way, Kumiko really became Music teacher. I just said it casually according to her personality but didn't expect that she would really become a instructor at the last episode 💀
@@sodiumchloride5202 That was pretty predictable if you follow the story closely. Kumiko is the best president and leader, and that's what makes her exactly fitting to be a teacher and getting people together.
It's interesting that this scene immediately brought me back to the scene in Liz and Aoi Tori, where Nozomi wondered why Niiyama sensei recommended Music college to Mizore but not her. This clarifies the answer.
