The game's final update added 3 sets of truck-based challenges: El Toro Loco, MAX-D, and Grave Digger.
All of these challenges are "Steel Titan" (the hardest) difficulty by default, and pit the player against the truck in question and all it's variants. In this case, Marc Mcdonald's black El Toro Loco, and Becky Mcdonough's yellow El Toro Loco.
Despite the standard set by the "Need For Speed" series, as well as "Monster Jam: Path Of Destruction", beating these challenges does absolutely nothing towards unlocking the truck in question.
El Toro Loco Ice was a variant of El Toro Loco based on Spinmaster's "Monster Jam: Fire and Ice" toy line, and driven by Scott Buetow for the 2019 Monster Jam Season, and the first half of the 2020 Monster Jam Season, until the COVID-19 Pandemic forced Monster Jam to go on hiatus for the summer.
When Monster Jam reopened at AT&T Stadium in October of 2020, Buetow had left FELD, leaving El Toro Loco Ice without a driver until 2021, when "Fire and Ice" would be discontinued altogether, in favor of the new "Gears and Galaxies" toy line.
As far as merchandise, only a "Puff Truck" (sold at events where the 1:1 truck was present, also available on the Monster Jam Superstore) and a 1:64 scale diecast were ever produced.
The diecast could be obtained in two ways - in 2019, through a Walmart exclusive two-pack with Zombie Fire, or in 2020, through a Monster Jam Superstore exclusive two-pack with MAX-D Fire.
Historically significant highlights for El Toro Loco Ice in real-world competition include Scott Buetow piloting the truck as a team captain at the inaugural "Monster Jam All Stars Challenge", held in 2019 in Las Vegas (Sam Boyd Stadium).
Scott Buetow was also one of the pioneers of the "8-Pack Backflip". Although the new maneuver was popular with all of the trucks during the 2019 season, it came to be expected that Scott would try to fit one into every freestyle performance, with frequent success.
El Toro Loco Ice, and all of the "Fire and Ice" trucks, were made available immediately as a $19.99 DLC to coincide with the release of "Monster Jam: Steel Titans". As with all trucks in the game, they had no special stats, being perfectly equal in performance aside from player-applied upgrades. They would also be available from the start of the game, making it a good way to play with beloved trucks such as Grave Digger, without having to unlock the standard version.
In open-world events, they would have the blue (Ice) or orange (Fire) tires seen on the diecasts. In "Authentic" events (Head-To-Head Racing, Two Wheel Skills, Freestyle and Monster Jam University) however, they would feature their real-world BKT Tires and colored beadlock setups - blue for Ice, red for Fire.
An odd note to end on is that the Nintendo Switch version of "MJ:ST" never got this DLC, despite other games on the Nintendo E-Shop having DLC available.
However, it was still available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
