Shang Tsung is back again and up to no good as always! He must have been inspired by Joker in MK11; because he manages to antagonize the entire roster of fighters.
This timeline's version just so happens to be the slimeiest we've seen. Same ability to cause remorseless suffering but without the respectability of his previous timeline version's knowledge and skill.
Well i love the guy. Wouldn't mind him turning into a good guy completely to see how he would use his intellect for less horrible things, but even now he's very funny and charismatic.
In the last game, even _Joker_ couldn’t stand him (for his own reasons of course), and Joker was probably the one character *_in the entire MK franchise_* who has it worse then Shang.
@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFire I found it pretty cool that Shang also dissed him pretty hard. He seems to think joker is more of someone that needs to play to a crowd rather than getting things done. A vaudevillain.
Shang Tsung: Despite what you think, I am not evil. Reptile: *spiteful hissing* you can't be serious... Imaging saying something like that to your ex slave who's whole family you killed while you forced him to help with torturous experiments on people.
@@CrazyChris622 Oblivious? Shang Tsung is far from oblivious when he enjoys the insults. He knows full well he is being insulted for his evils, yet he just relishes in being evil and is very proud of it.
@@DrFrankenStainThe lore did kind of confirmed they were both lazy for honest work BEFORE 'Damashi' interfered. Even if Liu Kang was considerate enough to givw them good lives, they still choose to be evil.
I mean, Shangalanga probably sees most of this as getting what he deserves after barely staying alive for years, and he’s kinda right considering Liu Kang made him a poor bitch. Still unapologetically evil, but more understandably so.
Shang tsung's destiny to be a really evil and all powerful Sorcerer is so powerful that Liu Kang had to make him a massive loser with Zero opportunity. Hilarious.
This entire video pretty much sums up one of the reasons why Shang Tsung is one of my favorite villains. He is so graceful and elegant with the way he speaks, why also being completely unapologetic and remorseless. Just pure, unadulterated evil.
The only mistake Titan Shang Tsung made was double crossing Shang Tsung. Sure, he'll discover more realities later anyway, but if he hadn't betray salesman Shang Tsung, not only would Liu Kang not think about the concept of Titan Kombat, but Shang Tsung would've told him about the alt realities anyway.
I've fallen in love with Shang Tsung from MK11. He is such a wise, elegant and arrogant man. Now I'm experiencing it again with a more impulsive version of him. God forbid I meet him in real life
I love how every charachter blocks their oponnent attack after the dialog but havik like nope. Lets you clock him right in the face 1:07😂😂😂 boy really about that Chaos life
@@christbenitez8797 He is the difference is that most of the time he deludes himself in thinking that he is actually the good guy. shang tsung knows who he is and does'nt lie to himself about it.
The whole attitude of Shang Tsung is as follows: "I'm evil, so what? Someone has to be the one everyone points at and blames, justified or not." Kinda reminds me of the "Say goodnight to the bad guy," speech from Tony Montana in Scarface actually...
He is totally fine with the whole "mass genocidal war and mutilation of the innocent" concept, but he draws the line at using him as a pawn and tricking him into it XD
Shang Tsung must be a special kind of evil if literally everyone else in MK1 hates him. Also, it's kinda cool that Shang Tsung knows he's a bad guy but doesn't give a shit and, in fact, proud of it. That right there is a perfectly written villain.
@@axgelbxnny No, every children's villain is either some meaningless twist or a kiddie-pool level of tragic motivation. Hell, sometimes both. It's rare nowadays we see a villain so unapologetically atrocious.
@@Ender41948 A recent example I can think of is Big jack horner He had a good upbringing, lived a good life. He's evil just because he feels like it lol
Psychopaths are so frustrating to deal with, they do things that ruins your life, but they just don't care. I'm sure you meet this type of person in real life.
So MK11 brings back Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and made the GOAT in-game depiction of Shang Tsung. Perfect, absolutely unbeatable. Tell me how tf they managed to make him even better in this game.
I don't care what some people might say, Shang Tsung is one of the best villains ever put in a video game. The best way to describe this man is deliciously evil.
@alenisofara1570 can't blame, shao Kahn is cool but he's mostly just a big bad ruler, while shang tsung is a charismatic smart and badass villain who enjoys what he does
I always said that. The whole tournament was a enter the dragon reference. Goin to a secret location on an island. With an old scheming man hosting the tournament. Goro = Bolo yeung😂😂 not to mention lui kang and bruce lee
THIS is what modern writers need to learn, how to make a great villain. We don't need some cheap backstory to justify a bad guy or to make us feel bad for him. We need Shang Tsung, even in this timeline he became the most hated person in the new era and he doesn't give a single fuck until someone (himself) plays him wrong.
Shang Tsung is just a really good and written villain. He's beaten the standard at some point. But also, he even managed to get under Johnny's skin if he sounds THIS mad in 2:50.
the moment when you realize the only reason shang was born in outworld this time is cause liu kang probably deadass didnt know he actually originated from earth realm makes things kinda sad in retrospect.
Ngl, Liu Kang's New Era Shang Tsung is quite literally an asshole but our kinda asshole type of character (little Die Hard reference there). Let's just be real here: we love hating him. You want to destroy the man for his very boorish and cocky attitude, but can't help but adore him as a character.
I would respond to Shang's quips with punches, kicks, stabs, and cuts only. Words only give him nourishment. But maybe calling him stupid will touch a nerve.
This Johnny is usually so quippy even with the likes of Bi-Han or Havik, but duuude He's really NOT having it with Shang Tsung. I mean he's the bigger evil, obviously, so it makes sense but it's still so weird to see him actually pissed off💀
I love the transition from menu to gameplay. The whole dialogue flipped into a mini cutscene flawlessly into the arena toir fighting in. Im well chuffed with this game so far. It definitely feels refreshing having a new take on most of the cast of characters taking a newish style of role. With exception to Shang Tsung. Tho i do actually like this variation of him he sounds more transparent as a character and shows more depth
