I'm about to attempt the same job on my own on my 85 Golf diesel. I purchased a trans jack from Harbor Freight which should help with the support, removal and reinstall. Since the jack has wheels and I've a steep driveway, I must be careful the trans doesn't get away from me and roll into the street to oncoming vehicles. Not a common sight seeing a trans rolling around in the street. That would be bad especially for those drivers encountering it! 😱😁
