Firstly, the VAG 1.8T engine runs HOT & is notorious for sludge buildup. Change the engine oil & oil filter regularly (5000km-10000km depending on heat & dust). Newer cars designed for efficiency regularly run on low viscosity 0W30, but the VW 1.8T Needs 20W40 or 20W50 in hot Indian conditions, Especially in stop go traffic. These things in stock form with good care are run trouble free for 250000km. Mine is a remapped 2004 VRS (~200bhp) with 105000km on the odo, it runs as good as new. Apart from the Ignition coils the car is almost bullet proof. Of course, Getting repairs done/mods installed by inexperienced mechanics will reduce the overall car life instantly! No way the Turbo fails at 75000km unless youre installing crap aftermarket air filters with pvc plumbing and using silly grade oil. Use WD40 liberally on plastic/rubber parts under the hood & on wires & electrical components throughout the car to keep them supple, dust free & to prevent fading. (1 can every 3-6 months) Use silicone spray lube for seat adjust mechanism, Sunroof & power window channels. The scraping bumper issue is solved by installing fatter profile tyres, which also improve road grip, comfort & braking. Big rims & thin tyres are Counter-productive, Look at any track car from Go-karts to F1, they all run fat tyres. I run 215/60 r16 JK Royales on mine, Changes the car completely compared to the older 195/55 michelin primacy (of course, car is an inch taller and theres some speedo error, but the car is now perfect for indian roads, City or freeway!
I recently spotted a combi vrs that was lowered on some really nice oz rims and ever since i've been on the look out for a nice vrs but i'm afraid owning one would make me a full time mechanic as well, not that i'm complaining but unfortunately life gets in the way. I would pick this over the Laura purely for the way it looks, The laura makes a good sleeper but the design is too boring for my taste.
The mk1 vrs is still a favorite inspite of knowing all this but if you want one it's best to go for the best car you can afford rather than building up a cheap worn out car with problems
Pickedup mk1 Vrs recently for 1Lak 🔥😼 +Turbo air hose leak +No lights working on dash +50k kms -1owner +No abs +Sunroof not working . - engine is in great condition 🤤
This car looks almost like mine except for the yellow callipers and bolts , mine is red , love this machine and is my daily for past 2 years now . Hoon machine , And good content bro .
@@therustycashew8553 yes , it is , it’s running on a stage 2 setup and absolutely love driving this especially on highways and on the twisty roads it shows it’s handling skills good . It’s an ambient version with full Vrs kit car actually was owned previously by a reputed tuner in our country .
Yes. That's a valid concern. And among the reasons I went in for a Laura 1.8 tsi. The downside is that the Laura tsi also is a tough one to maintain in terms of spare parts and their cost. My E60 BMW 530D is way easier and cheaper to maintain. And loads of fun too. Having said that....the Laura 1.8 tsi is great fun, the acceleration & touching triple figures in second is another high n also enables upgrading driving skills. I bought mine for track .
bro i am VRS owner past year, but few things i learned about my car, thanks brother please if possible do review of type 2 city exi S model. once again thanks for the content
I'm unsure on the mk2 but that seems wider too so it should handle better in my opinion. The rider would make a good platform for mods if one was going to anyways change all those components. It's all based on what you can find
I was looking for a used Laura 1.9 TDI for some time as it has good mod potential as well as excellent fuel economy for a daily drive , but few of them which came for inspection were badly maintained and also the parts pricing was a shocker for me especially turbo/ suspension/ ac etc.. I will still go for one if i get one for good price and is decently maintained.. No other cars can match the performance/driveability of these cars in such low price tag ( used one).
Great content buddy. Keep it up. I’m searching for a VRS( Octavia or Laura) from a long time. Still not able to find a good one. It would be a great help if you know someone who is selling a car in good condition.
I have a feeling they were discontinuing that gen and were finishing off their parts, the rider was to use up 1.8t engines and then some of the last Octys had the vrs front bumper
