Flying boats in Il-2 and even War Thunder are much more resilient somehow than regular bombers overall... least that's what I noticed.

Got curious enough to quickly check out the MK101 and found that it was intended for ground attack and was quite good against T34s and KV1s. Over the Channel it was used primarily against shipping. It was considered inadequate against aircraft due to it's slow rate of fire and muzzle velocity, hence the development of the MK103. Rate of fire 230-260 rounds/min Muzzle velocity 900 m/s (2,953 ft/s) From the way things look, if used against bombers it could be very effective provided you open up at near point blank range.

Good research :) From this vid, I found that the best way for me to score a hit was to get withing say 300m and in that zone and closer start firing in volleys of the full magazine, then powering back waiting for the re-load and then doing another volley from point blank.

You can also do slashing attacks from the rear high and aim for the wing roots or you can try von unten hinten like the Nachtjager did. Done against a Blenheim at altitude for example, i can't see it surviving direct hits on the fuselage, especially towards the tail.

I think its hard to find in the aircraft menu, because there are a number of 110s there, but from what I can see only the C6 has the Mk101. Its a cool cannon for sure :)

Take-off - Lock the tailwheel before your run, and apply left rudder as you throttle up.

General question for anyone out there. Are these IL-2 simulators software that I can buy and download, store and run directly on my computer? Or do I have to buy/use this software through something like Steam? Also, any thoughts on the differences between the IL-2 sims and DCS? Just a noob here that wants to do a little flight sim gaming as I'm an ex-pilot and from the vids I've seen here on YT just looks like a lot of fun.

You can play single player offline. IL-2 is better in so many ways in my opinion, however DCS is making some really strong presentations lately with the F18 and the Persian Gulf map. Make sure you have a good enough computer or else you will experience frame-rate-rage. lol.

IL2 Cliffs of Dover - Blitz Edition is Steam only. IL-2 Battle of [x] series are available through steam or through their website.

Let's be real, you need a lot of money if you want play DCS properly, every craft is a little DLC. It's worth it? Yes, a lot since you can switch everything at your likings. Do i recommend it? If you have some bucks to spend on it.

This reminds of "Tailmange's" 50mm-equipped Me-262 that blew Boeing B-17s apart at 1Km. (It had to be aimed a tad high to compensate for "bullet drop.") It worked OK until other B-17s got close enough to hit the jet, and he had to break off or be shot down by "mere .50" caliber machine guns.";) Why waste 30mm cannon rounds on a Supermarine Walrus? You might as well pack a shotgun and use it, instead. What is this? A ramming attack on a Walrus!? Too bad you lost part of your wing at low altitude and died ignominiously. You didn't learn your lesson and ran into the Sunderland. Another ignominious defeat.

Im hoping they include that big artillery peice in the Bodenplatte expansion. The TEam Fusion team has worked hard on the aircraft structures and this only becomes evident upon crashes, hence the crashes.

Thing is, in most IL-2 games the AI can "freak out", you will notice them trying to run more than normal and gunners randomly shooting every enemy they see. That seems to happen when they run out of ammo or fuel.

So it makes for frustrating videos because it takes him longer to bring his guns on target and hold them there as well as work the pursuit geometry. Duh.
