@@Yo_soy_Annna So basically when Zomba fought against Leo before Crown at BOBC5 he won against him 3-1 and Leo got sent to losers. Leo lost the tournament at 9th to Kameme on game 5 dropping out of the tournament. In reference to how Leo's results were getting worse and more inconsistent over 2023, Zomba tweeted "how the fuck did Leo lose to me 😂" and in response Leo said "If I play good there is no chance u beat me imma be real, but good stuff!" and then Crown came up after that and Zomba made a tweet with a Mickey Mouse gif before fighting off against Leo again which means he thinks he's not trying and he's basically clowning on Leo just for fun and games and to nudge him up a bit. Zomba put his tag as "mickeyleo" when fighting against him and then Leo lost after Zomba reverse 3-0'd him as seen in this video which leads up to now to where he still thinks Leo should be doing better than he is and that he's sandbagging.
I swear, this beef between Leo and Zomba is making competitive Ult so entertaining to me as a spectator. Something I've always preferred more with spectating competitive Melee is how you'll see much more rivalries and beef between the top players. I feel like it's a big reason why Mango and Hbox are as popular as they are. As long as everyone is aware that the beef is nothing personal and all for fun, then a lot is added to the viewing experience whenever matches between 2 beefing players come up. Which sadly might be a big ask for this community. I just hope Leo supporters and Zomba supporters can keep it civil and not do something stupid like sending death threats to the other player.
I mean zomba is a little kid .. lol Leo dokt be starting beef with people like that Zomba does talk a lot of shit for someone who ain’t top10. Zomba will NEVER what MKLeo did . No one in ultimate will
@@JorgeMorales-xv6qx First of all, I'm pretty sure Leo actually did start the beef when he made some passive aggressive reply to a tweet Zomba made after beating Leo at Battle of BC. And 2nd of all, even if Zomba isn't a top 10 player for the ranking season, he's certainly been playing like one for the last few tournaments. At the very least, he's been doing better than Leo, which makes talking shit not seem as stupid imo.
@@myoblivion420 what's the context tho? As I said before, I haven't watched tourneys in a while so I dont know whats going on in the scene as much as I used to, but why does zomba have a mickeyleo tag?
@@xanander4693 idk why you're saying calm down, im not mad it's a genuine question. Like I said, I haven't been as involved in the scene as before, so I dont see how wanting context equates to me being mad
Leo missed a lot of stocks and punishes, also rolling a lot. Zomba stayed calm and secured his game. It is what it is, hope they can face each other more often
I know the whole Mickey Mouse thing is meant to be disrespect/playful smack talk but like…what does Mickey Mouse actually mean in this context? I’m a bit slow to the smash vernacular
In 2020 the NBA played all their games at Disneyworld due to COVID, so people called the Lakers winning a Mickey Mouse victory since there was no crowd (which can have a huge effect in basketball)
It has nothing to do with basket ball you're reading too much into this. Its all about Mickey mouse being a goofy ass character. Basicaly zomba is calling leo goofy and not treatening, much like a cartoon character whon thinks he's tough but is in fact a joke.
Hell of a comeback by zomba. Leo played well, but it feels like byleth relies on some degree of chance. The consistency is the problem with them. In my opinion.
I think you’re right with the degree of chance and kind of 50/50s. Makes being consistent much harder I would think, constantly either guessing or trying to predict where they di, tech chasing the down smash on rolls. Byleth is a great to good character and Leo pilots them exceptionally, just a decent amount of guessing or predicting on some options. No competitive experience at all so I very well could be way off I just enjoy watching
@@tuckersalm4338 nah I think you hit it on the head, from everything I’ve seen. When Leo using byleth makes the correct reads it’s godly, and kills opponents so early. But if he’s wrong or misses slightly, the games get away from him. Also it seems like nair isn’t very safe in shield, which is so big for Leo’s byleth it really hurts if he’s missing nairs and getting punished for it.
The primary aspect of a character that makes them either consistent or inconsistent is their kill power and Byleth has arguably the most consistent kill power in the game.
1:42 could someone please explain how that killed? He didn’t even enter the “bubble” phase, he just got hit and was in the blast zone. Didn’t even meteor smash.
The blast zone is reduced to killing you at the bubble area if you're in hitstun or have high enough knockback when you reach it. Byleth just got a strong Down Air.
@@sergiooliva2517 what do you mean what's next? Rob is cheese af but there is no reason to ban him nor did I say "ban him" OFC he is a great player a really really good player anyone who thinks otherwise has no clue about comp smash. But literally everything I wrote in my first comment is 100% factual, care to disagree?
@@sergiooliva2517 I don't quite remember the major but leo won the final neutral which lead to the kill and tournament win due to exactly what happened to somba, platform luck at least people back then Recognized it as such LUCK now you wanna tell me soma didn't got super lucky twice in a row and was carried by his cheese ass character?
@@darkdraconis A cheesy ass character Leo tried to pick up (but couldn't make it work) and constantly practices with MKBigBoss. Leo got outlucked and outskilled.
Now there isn't a single timeline of events where Leo dropped a set against ROB or Wolf with Joker.... WHY doesn't this man choose Joker where he has seen great results? His Joker is even better than it was. He is obviously great with Byleth but like bruh....
'cause if he looses with joker then there isn't gonna be more excuses. "yeah I lost 'cause I wasn't even trying", "I didn't even pick joker", "I have a girlfriend", "I'm not even trying". Leo always bring some excuse and his fans have even more excuses, the main one being "He didn't use Joker".
He’s been “beefing” with Leo for the last couple weeks. After he beat him at Battle of BC, he tweeted asking basically “how the fuck did I just win that” and got Leo’s response of “ok but if I try you stand no chance, ggs”, imo the most disrespectful thing out of this budding rivalry because it downplayed Zomba’s win as “Leo wasn’t trying” if it was serious on Leo’s part. They played a $1k money match on Hbox’s stream this week, which Leo won 10-7, which I’m sure stirred up Zomba’s spirit, and today, with both of them playing genuinely well (Zomba out of his mind, Leo a slight return to form), Zomba still won. The tag may have gotten Leo a bit upset, but mindgames are a part of fighting games, it’s why taunts exist in the first place. Getting your opponent mad is a valid strategy, and that’s part of why Sonic and Steve can do so well on top of their crazy kits. They shook hands after the set too. Let Zomba talk his shit, this might be the new age Leo Tweek rivalry (given how one sided that’s been for the past two years), and I’m all for it.
Zomba better than Spargo???????? Or when Leo tries there is a massive difference in the level he plays if he gets the runback Zimbabwean is getting packed up
