This really convinced me that Leo stopped playing joker simply because he got bored, and wanted to challenge himself with other characters

When Leo plays Aegis, Corrin, or Byleth...they still look recognizable the same character, just taken to their absolute limit. But Joker just looks...different. Like a new, Leo-exclusive character. Nobody plays Joker like that.

Before people would criticize Leo for playing Joker because of the character being the best character in Smash Ultimate. However since then, Leo has proven with his skills that it is not the character that was good, but the player and Joker simply happened to be the character that brings out his skills to the fullest potential. Like we have/had a couple of Jokers floating around but none of them are as refined as Leo's. Just watching his movement, the options, and how near optimized he uses every single tool from the character is on another level. He doesn't just only apply fundamentals or the textbook strategies and options but literally watching this set it felt like not just a game of trading blows, but an oppressive dance that keeps on changing. Like you see his guns, his aerials, tilts, and etc. just flowing into one another and constantly mixed up? It was like this character was designed just for him, and this is the usually benched Joker as well that may come out once in a blue moon. Nairo puts it best, like "if you didn't face a full set against MKLeo's Joker, did you really win against MKLeo?"

Joker is still the coolest DLC character, I don't care what anybody says. Although Sephiroth is close.

What's insane is how he switches to Joker and immediately plays the character as if he hadn't practiced anything else in years. Not a second of warming up on Joker required, he just runs the program.

I don't really follow the smash bros meta, I just see snippets of stuff like Steve complaining and Leo being good on Twitter, BUT ACTUALLY SEEING HIM PLAY IS LIKE WHIPLASH WTF. It's like they couldn't hit him and whenever they did hit him it didn't even matter because he lived and had 3 stocks left and whenever Leo hit someone it lead into a setup that dealt like 87% and killed. I knew he was good but seeing him play is totally different

Leo doesn’t stop playing certain characters because he wants to. He stops playing certain characters because he wants to give everyone else a fighting chance. He could just play a character that he’s mastered down to the core and win everything for the rest of this game’s existence. But alas, though he is a player in a tier of his own, he still tries his best to give everyone else a real chance at doing well at this game competitively.

I love watching Leo's Byleth and I main byleth myself. And while I think Byleth is a good character I feel like he play s Byleth for fun & because he knows he can still beat everyone playing Byleth but once he gets the Joker out it's clear how much of a gap there is between Leo & other players. Its a work of art.
