A match that will haunt MKLeo forever. Looking at all the people trying to defend his lack of matchup knowledge. It’s been 5 years since Banjo was released. Y’all need to cope with Leo falling off.
As someone that finds themselves comparing this character to Bowser Jr as an inferior version at that I'll be happily proven wrong about my thoughts on this character
It was clear that MkLeo didn't know the matchup, and all things considered, the games could have gone a lot worse for him. I'd heard Leo got destroyed in this set, but this looks more like an "I wasn't ready, I'll get him next time".
@@cullenhutchison6528Bro, stop sensationalizing. At least Riddles was able to take a game and even bring him to last stock situations💀 idk in what world Riddles got “destroyed” compared to what this man did to MKleo. Open your eyes and stop being such a fanboy😂
@@kenspeedway1572 people play. Granted its not to the level of Toriguri. But then there is also no one except maybe a few who are at the level of Mkleo's joker. People aren't getting match up checked at top level play, it's players utilizing their mains in their own unique ways. Just gotta ask for character practice like Sonix does.
Don't blame Leo. There was literally no way for Leo to practice the matchup thanks to Nintendo using netcode that only works in japan. This really does give japanese players a huge advantage over their western counterparts. They can get the matchup experience they need. People need to complain louder about this. It's scummy behavior and far too many japanese developers do it. Elden Ring has the same problem for instance.
@@alb7466 What? Are you not aware of this? This was the case with brawl whose online mode was basically unplayably laggy outside of japan. With Sm4sh it was the same thing again. Horrible lag even if you matchup with someone relatively close to you geographically. If you were in the UK trying to fight someone from Germany there would be heavy fucking lag. With every title its improved somewhat, but the netcode is still fucking trash in Ultimate. And it always works way better in Japan than anywhere else because the netcode has been created with the japanese internet infrastructure in mind. Thus the Japanese have a very active competitive online bracket where their players can practice against each other and learn matchups. The rest of the world doesn't have an online bracket like that because the rest of the world has to put up with so much lag that practicing online doesn't work since the game plays different when there's a big delay on everything. It makes everything less reactable and forces you to act preemptively. There's a huge gap between online and offline smash. Unless you live in Japan, where the gap is way smaller. This absolutely positively provides Japanese players with an unfair advantage. They can learn matchups at a top level online. The rest of the world cannot. How can you not know this? Toriguri is amazing, I love his Banjo. But what was MkLeo supposed to do? There was no way for him to not get matchup checked. And that very much has something to do with the poor netcode. If there was a global online bracket where people could hone their skills people getting ran over because they are up against a character they have no way of knowing how to play against would happen less. This issue is especially poignant because ultimate has such a huge pool of highly unique characters.
It is so ironic that banjo, One of most requested character in west, yet he mostly neglected by the west, is now beating most strongest western player by Japanese person.
Leo underestimated him. And most people underestimate Banjo... And Toriguri escaping all those killconfirms. Lessgoo Japan! I wanted to see this with Twitch chat damn it. 5:57 XD
@@saxonthedan I like hearing her commentate in general, but Banjo being bottom 5 is just what on earth? I do think Banjo isn't quite as strong as Toriguri made him look in this tournament because there was no way for anyone outside of japan to prepare for him. But he's a mid tier character even if we are being highly pessimistic. He has way too much crazy stuff to be a low tier. It's just no one plays him apart from TG and he's a character like Peach or Diddy who requires tech to function as a character. If his recovery covered a bit more distance so that he could go high and didn't have to use wonderwing to get back to stage safely vs good opponents a lot of the time, if his damage output wasn't so low (why does breegull blaster do so little damage?) and if his utilt could hit grounded opponents (even if just with a weak hit) then he could be a legit top tier threat as far as I can tell. Bottom 5? Come o. Like come on...
@@axelnilsson2031 I’ve been a banjo main pretty much since he was released, obviously Toriguri is the best but even he isn’t perfect. Banjo has a lot of losing matchups and a horrid disadvantage state that blind people from appreciating his many strengths.
People have to understand 1. Toriguri has a lot of joker MU experience. He plays Goriokas joker a lot at Japanese tournaments and Gorioka is very good 2. Leo doesn’t have much Banjo experience due to the lack of good banjo mains in NA. 3. Toriguri is by far the best Banjo in the world. It’s like comparing Skyjay to the rest of the incineroar players. That’s how much better he is than the rest of the banjos
@@saxonthedan "I don't have any argument, you'll just have to trust me on this one." You're just mad that your favorite player got outplayed by a Banjo, it's ok bro. No need to make up lies
@@armakeen3576tbh the MU is better for Banjo than most people think. I was heavily rooting for TG myself but my point was how people were making comments like “Oh Leo got shit on by a Banjo.” I just hate to see these types of comments because people don’t see to understand this isn’t your random elite smash banjo. I’m not saying why Leo lost, I’m saying why TG won.
@@Ericspil790 he's always been a solid asf character; his major issue is that his normals just don't really connect well with eachother and people concluded that that meant he had no sauce. thank god we finally have a player that might start proving that wrong.
1. Every single top player can receive an upset from any player - they're not inmune to that. 2. Leo got matchup checked because of the lack of Banjo players in NA. On the other hand, Toriguri has played a lot versus Gorioka (Joker main from Japan) and has experience in the matchup because of this. With time and practice, MKLeo can and will learn how to fight Banjo.
@estebangamer636yt2 Leo got destroyed and outplayered. Nobody is Skyjay or Chunkykong or whoever else, when they get their upsets and it's not a "MU check" then. TG has taken out MuteAce, Yoshidora, Protobanham, Leo, Zomba, and the list goes on. TG is him
@@CB-nd4hn Yes, I recognize the merit that Toriguri has for his improvement and his performance, taking down a lot of top players with a character like Banjo such as Protobanham, MuteAce, MKLeo and so on. To be frank, I think that a lot of people underrate Banjo, and Toriguri is definitely proving what this character can do in top level. All I'm saying is that MKLeo doesn't have much experience against Banjo due to the lack of Banjo players in NA. That's why he got matchup checked.
