I hate when a custom track does this -too many laps on long courses -blindspots after a hill or ramp and you're supposed to go left or right -try to mimic anti gravity. Melting mamga melee is a huge example of this -forgets that other vehicles other than mach bike exists -add unnecessary shit to make it even harder than its already is like koopa cape shocks -no arrows on where to go -when the road is hard to see due to transparency or bad textures
Although I strongly disagree with this list, I really respect the amount of time you must have put in, everyone has different tastes in tracks. Great video Justin
Underrated comment and I agree with. It’s like when Lil Xan said Tupac music was boring. No, but it’s not like all your music is bad lil xan 😂 Great video !
@@UltimateJM_22 yeee. Then again I just played one room that has almost all daisy mach bikes and it's been diverse these days. I made a comment about my stance on tight turns
@@soaringstars314 That's not good, you have to remember that everyone has different tastes an as a karter I find it frustrating that people forget we exist. Casual players exist as well you shouldn't make a track that only bikes can play smoothly.
oh my god, how did i not find this sooner? i've been dying for someone to rank all 218 CTGP custom tracks. i can't wait to watch your full list. edit: i just watched through the whole video, and while i disagree with many placements (specifically the 11-9 stretch, seaside circuit at number 5, and hell pyramid and sunset wilds so low), i really appreciate your top three and peaks being in dead last. even though i disagree with many placements, i'm giving this a like because of the sheer amount of effort you put into making this.
as much as i disagree with a lot of placements on this list and a lot of the criteria you used to judge many of the tracks, major respect to the amount of time and effort you put in to make a 90 minute video with footage and commentary. also seaside circuit is indeed deserving of #5 EXTREMELY underrated track. also worth to mention that a few of the updates you wanted to get in will be putting in soon (bean debuted the tracks on stream today)
I am a month late but whatever lol Just wanted to say that I honestly agree with your placement for Sunset Circuit; I had initially made it after a hint of inspiration from another streamer who suggested it, and I just decided to remake it in a few days not really expecting it to get added. That being said, I feel v2 has not aged well and I am really looking forward to when my new update gets added. I can't really do anything about the speed mod as that seems to be something Bean has set in stone for this track in CTGP, but I have talked with him in private and he gave the OK to reduce the speed mod from x2 to x1.75 when the update eventually is put in, so hopefully that should make driving a bit better :P
Headlong Skyway #194 feelsbadman Honestly, this is an amazing list. Only tracks I heavily disagree with you on is Six King Labyrinth (completely understandable reasoning tho), Headlong Skyway (my guilty pleasure track), Delfino Island, Volcanic Skyway 4, Boshi, Christmas Court, and Big Nature City (I love the visuals, but that last section is putrid and unforgiving to new players). And yes Seaside Circuit is a god damn gem. Also, the reasoning throughout is just solid and concise. Now that Bean's almost with the beta of 200cc, you think he should start doing a massive track overhaul (i.e; like 8 tracks updated/replaced & removed every two weeks)? I think a big track overhaul would be health for the game. Also, I wonder if Peaks could replace Star Slope as one of the secret tracks (and become unplayable online). It shouldn't be outright removed from CTGP but it shouldn't be playable online.
Secret tracks can still be playable online, you just have to put in a code and make your own tracklist I think, and yeah new tracks should replace new ones sooner imo
@@BrandonSG13 I think the updates will always come on the 25th day of a month because that was the case for the last three updates which came on the 25th December, 25th January and 25th February
Track makers also have a weird obsession with submerging racetracks in lava...like the water sections of MK7 and MK8 but even more physics-breaking. Just...why?
From someone who has NEVER played ctgp and has a completely unbias view, I really respect the dedication on this video. Even by looking at the track layouts I can see why you would put what in a certain place. Great video.
I think everyone who disagrees talks about the middle tracks, which are definitely disputable. However, i think the bottom 20-25 you mentioned need a replacement, they just don’t hold up anymore and there’s so many other tracks that could be in ctgp. There’s many retro tracks that should be a little higher because they look better and drive okay I guess... Amazing video Justin :)
very interesting takes, Justin. this got me thinking: maybe we could have 2 separate custom track worldwide types, like easy and hard, where rooms can only pick tracks in the respective subset. this could help players play tracks they want to, more often
Really well made video. I just got CTGP exactly a week ago, I agree with most of the track placements (From the ones I've played) I'd give Waluigi Pinball the Number 1 spot with Lunar Lights a number 2.
great video, this type of content isnt really released and it was a joy to watch the points you listed about the earlier tracks stuck with me, do you think that reducing the number of tracks to create a higher baseline for quality is the way to go? no disrespect to the creators but the quality difference between lets say calidae desert or mushroom peaks vs honeybee hideout is massive
I mostly think that the current number of tracks is good because of the number of retros. While I would prefer the bad tracks out either way, I think there are definitely enough tracks to replace the ones who haven't aged well to make the whole pack feel well designed
@Cooper I pesonally don't think reducing the number of tracks is the right way. I think many people would be really disappointed. Also I think Bean actually said that at some point they will stop removing tracks meaning that we'll probably have more then 218 tracks in the future. In my opinion that would be so awesome but I think the outdated tracks need to be removed before that happens.
I want to point out about the reasoning behind Mushroom Mountain's removal that there was a face at the end showing that the reasoning is absolutely stupid.
@@JustinMKW as a new comer who came in 2020 I just think that halogen highway is honestly one of the most difficult tracks in ctgp also what are your thoughts on desert fort it’s my new favorite track
As someone who was apart of the ct community years ago but haven't been involved since pre 2012 seeing Mushroom Peaks last (although understandable) just broke my heart
I really liked Volcanic Pipeyard actually but no of course Bean removed it before fucking Mushroom Peaks or any other track that actually deserves removal
@@Marshall.R He finally gave up on keeping Volcanic Pipeyard when he saw it was bottom 15 in popularity consistently. Peaks is always up near the top in popularity and that's why it's still in.
@@CobaltYoshi27 I guarantee at least 90% of Mushroom Peaks picks are either troll picks or picked for the purposes of a free win so its popularity shouldn't mean anything
I disagree with a lot on this list, anyway I highly respect you to take the time to make this video. I didn’t even know there were so many newer versions of tracks that weren’t added. Anyway I would love to see tracks like river of dreams (I’m still sad that it got removed) and candy coaster to get some good upgrades to make them feel like a modern track!
I am kinda new to the races, and even though I agree with a lot of picks for the low spots, theres always something so satisfying with getting first on the unforgiven tracks like mushroom peaks
Yeah, I can honestly relate to a lot of these picks, but I do have my own opinions on some of the choices. GCN Mushroom City - I personally really love Mushroom City and it's great seeing it back! Mainly because of the freedom in it without it being too confusing. SADX Twinkle Circuit - Maybe my Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart biased is showing, but I don't mind it. :) Slot Circuit - It is kinda big, but I don't mind. Desktop Dash - I really love it. It's really creative and I like the cars. Do wish they could look more toy-like to fit in better tho. GCN Rainbow Road - It looks so beautiful tho! Awwww...I do understand, it's a big long but I'm just glad it's difficulty is turned down. 3DS DK Ruins - Eh, the track is fine. N64 Moo Moo Farms - I agree with it's position, but the bumpiness is honestly quite fun. I think the problem is that it's too wide and MKWII handles bumps weirdly. Wish it was more like Double Dash IMO DS Wario Stadium - Always liked this map and it was certainly improved in 8. Mansion Of Madness - Yeah, my bias is showing again. It should be redesigned but it's still really creative which I can admire. Shy Guy Market - I do like the original, but why is it renamed? Makes the track sound more original than it actually is...aka false advertising lol. Even if that's the actual name in some regions, why isn't "3DS" put in the title? DS Shroom Ridge - Dunno...the visuals look kinda dry and not very colourful. Also I really like Moonview Highway. Love chaotic tracks that aren't just composed of bottomless pits. GBA Cheese Land - First off nice ;) second sorry that I didn't say it with you. I'm dumb. GCN Mushroom Bridge - The original was always awesome tho! Also the Wiggler Bus was also in the original you know. Neo Koopa City - Yet again a track where I like the original. Maybe I'm too loving of all Mario Kart 8 tracks. There's likely some things I missed but I'm tired so eh. Good job on the video lad!
In reference to the 3DS thing, they renamed the tracks to new names to avoid potential copyright issues with Nintendo since the game came out after Wii. They do this for the 3DS tracks but they're actually completely denying any Wii U and Mario Kart Tour tracks for the same reason
@@JustinMKW I honestly wonder how much that helps. Nintendo is very protective of its IPs, not just in regards to new games but their old games as well, so I don't see how adding MK7 and MK8 tracks with their real names is worse than adding tracks from older MK games.
I am so glad you made a complete list. Fantastic effort. Well presented and the background footage was always pretty and the driving entertaining. One thing I would change would be to work on a few pronunciations. Renegade Ciara and Maczkopeti were the ones that distracted me enough to mention, but I understand that maczkopeti might not be the most intuitive name to pronounce (Ciara you should have got though ;)).
I disagree with a lot of the placement of tracks; BUT everyone has a different opinion, and this was well edited with a good voiceover so you get a thumbs up from me! Also Im subscribing. You did an excellent job! Edit: I know I said it but I wanna say again. This video shows very well your editing, script writing, and reviewing skills. You did an amazing job and getting all the footage is very impressive!
10: Celestial ruins 9: Concord town 8: Skyline Avenue 7: aura metropolis 6: Christmas court 5: White garden 4: Delfino Island 3: GBA Lakeside Park 2: Cherry blossom garden (almost perfect) 1: Dark Matter Shrine (smooth and so fun to drive, seems like a coaster)
I just wanna say that Suzuka Circuit is incredibly confusing to drive. I'm relatively new to playing custom tracks and there's this part of the track where you can accidentally take the wrong decision in a turn and now you're in a spot where if you drive forwards, you've passed like half of the track. I just think it's never a good idea to have a four-way intersection in any Mario Kart track unless driving forward is an option, which it isn't here.
It’s based off of the real Suzuka Circuit in Japan. Those roads are for car repairs during a race or whatever (I’m not a car person, I’ve only seen Cars twice)
this is a very controversial video, but my main complaints is peaks, helado, sky grove, and especially desktop should be much higher also undiscovered should be #216 great video tho and thx for putting in the effort to finish it.
Do you have something against spykid or something becausse i feel like a lot of his tracks are at the bottom and most of them ( Especially CrystalDungeon ) didn't deserve to be so low
Honestly the list is a little bad if it were my standards. I don’t think tracks are placed super well but you put in a lot of time. I enjoyed hearing your opinions though
How to make good custom tracks: 1. Reasonable length for 3 laps 2. Don't make mushrooms, cannons or ramps 3. Be intuitive and beginner-friendly 4. Good theme and background 5. Be Sniki
They should though. Despite being the most time trialed and most picked course in worldwides, I don't think it's the sole reason that people are playing the pack. I can definitely see it having the opposite effect though. And I'm sure many people would prefer better tracks rather than historical value.
Justin maybe so, but if people are picking it the most then clearly a lot of people enjoy it (I know lots pick it for the meme or freewin but it’s still the most picked course). To remove the most picked course in worldwides would be completely stupid
Brandon Sadler-Gray they literally only pick it for the free win you cannot tell me people actually enjoy it. people don’t pick six king even though it’s actually enjoyable because it’s not a free win
I think a cool track idea is to have the twisting hallway from one of the bowsers castles and make it into a track in itself (but adding changes to keep it interesting)
I believe that many of the tracks lower on the list, like you pointed out in your entry on six king labyrinth, have a lot of potential if they were remade or at least given a major update. Man, sandcastle park would be epic of it was remade, because it has a really good theme, but is very outdated. I also do not understand why Mushroom Mountain replaced mushroom peaks, just like what you stated in your entry on peaks (none of what Bean said about Mushroom mountain is really true)
Replacements : Mushroom Peaks to Mushroom Mountain Six King Labyrinth to Disco Fever ASDF Course to ASDF City New Tracks having own Cups Cappy Cup Glacier Mine Bonita Harbour Seasonal Planet Pianta Plaza Bonbon Cup 64 Dededes Castle Starlit Sanctuary River of Dreams Tumbleweed Traverse
U plan to make another one because there are sooooo many updates? 😂 I also disagree on half of your list, but we all have different taste in CT’s Still appreciate that you took the time to do this 👍.
In Haunted Woods there's also a deadly Chain Chomp out for blood going into the mansion. In SNES Donut Plains 1 there's also faster CPUs than normal and I don't like that.
I agree with the bottom half of this list more than the top half. Those 1/10 tracks really need to be removed. Personally, I couldn't relate to your "the track is too long" complaints, (probably because I played the pack back in 2012/2013 and people back then really liked long tracks) but CTGP should really get with the times and shorten some of the lap counts.
I skipped to the top ten and i was like "based off these comments i gotta feeling lunar lights would be low" and lunar lights is legit my fav track 💀 then i see it at number one and my fave dropped lmaoooo. I feel basic now
Honesty Crystal Plains is tied with a few others for my favorite. The very rural yet social, complex, and somewhat technological village just does it for me. Seaside Circuit is good, but I’m not really a fan of the sort of bland color scheme. Lunar Lights, your favorite, definitely does WAY better with the nighttime, and makes it the most beautiful track of ctgp with all the rainbow glowing lights. Peaks is way too long and the color scheme is TERRIBLE, and we should just have a 2 lap mushroom mountain. You got blue shelled a RIDICULOUS amount of times. Infernal Pipeyard and Volcanic Pipeyard are LITERALLY the same thing, the world isn’t really wide enough for both of them. Cortex and New Moon are rightfully placed, they’re some of the GOAT. I wonder if your opinions have changed because of track updates and new tracks like Desert Fork, Garden of Dreams, Mediaeval Castlegrounds, Sky Hogh Island, and Quaking Mad Cliffs. I love how CTGP’s standards for a track are always going up, but that can only truly happen if Mr Bean makes an update to or simply throws out Labyrinth and Peaks. Sorry I had to write a paragraph, it’s just a huge project and I’m so glad someone made this!
