it's really good having people like yourself who have been a great help to people like me who are just getting to know about the ML as I've just got my first ml430 and I'm 62 but it is one of the best motor's I've owned and I've had a few car's over the years only thing is being in the UK there's not a lot of part's I've bought a fair bit from eBay needing a bit of advice is there any difference between the LHD and the RHD back lights i know that the front are different but I'm not too sure about the back I've seen a nice set of led lights but the seller doesn't know if there is a difference in the fitting so if you could please let me know i would appreciate it very much
ML55 has exclusive buffalo leather on seats and door panels. Also has variable effort steering. Has electric cooling fan instead of clutch fan but so did ML500.
Benzworld post said that a guy put a ml55 engine & transmission into ml430 . He also put the ml55 ecu chip into the ml430 ecu because the rear differential are not the same .I have a 2000 ml55 near me in junkyard it would be nice to put the motor & transmission in my 2003 ml500 or at least the camshafts . I’m gunna make a visit this week & see if it’s worth it because my ml500 needs head gaskets so now is the time for upgrades
I have a near mint 2000 ML55 in silver as well. It's one of the best cars i've ever owned. I had an opportunity to "upgrade" to a newer model, but I didn't do it, I like this one too much! Mine have 195k miles on it now and going strong and looking great. Of course I maintain it better than I maintain myself!
I have fender flares on my 99 ml430. One was cracked so I removed it to reveal much rust!! It seemed the fender flare trapped water, salt other goodies that marinated over time... Perhaps it's just classic wear and tear, but I feel like the fender flares allowing elements to remain trapped within may have quicken the process! 🚘
@@Nd_72 well I got my ML500 with 130k original owner and runs great, had to fix a few things but ML55 is mad $$$ for high miles right now. Here in SoCal guy asking 15k for one with 100k on it, I’ll pass.
completely made up nonsense. In these years, the "amg only" parts are things that don't fail, like the pistons, heads, crank, connecting rods. Everything else is the exact same parts as the non-AMG version
@@kbcarroll right now I have a engine light on for the EGR valve, my brake booster just shit the bed and starting hissing near the brake pedal. The interior is falling apart, just fixed a window regulator and another one broke a day after, the transmission shifts horribly, I can go on. It's too expensive to keep up with any of it. I definitely wish I spent that 4K I had on a tercel or something else lol
