Honestly if Chase Utley makes it I'll be not happy, there are people like Jeff Kent who literally dwarf his numbers as a second baseman and Kent isn't in... I would vote for Mauer, Andrew Jones, and Gary Sheffield

Not the last year for the Astros - they will resign Altuve , breggo might walk , JV has a vesting option for the 3rd year .. stros have a solid 2 -3 year window

Do your homework before you press “record”: #justinverlander was not on the Mets for 2 years 🙄. He was there till the August 1st trade deadline of the first year of the contract. If he pitches 140 innings in 2024, the contract vests for 2025. Sorry, I can’t watch anymore. #gostros

i had no idea that joe mauer is two months younger than the great justin verlander. i lived where he played for a time and have yet to hear an unkind word about him....manny ramirez belongs in the hall of fame as does beltre as does helton.

I disagree, the Astros had a great bullpen last season and losing as many players as we did this offseason and this Hader signing albeit awesome doesn't fix the lack of depth we now have.

It is probably going to be a two team race in the AL West between the Rangers and Astros. Mariners surprisingly thus far have not done anything to upgrade their roster, while the Angels and especially the A's do not look anywhere close to being contenders. Insofar as Hall of Fame inductees, Beltre and Mauer look like good possibilities. If not this time around, then definitely within the next few years. When it comes to Hall of Fame voting, I tend to adhere to the theory that if you have to think about it, then the player is probably not Hall of Fame worthy. And I agree with Ben that PED/steroid use should not be used solely as a justification to keep anyone out of the Hall of Fame.

@@FlippinBatsPod Good question. I hope it is the Rays. But the Orioles will be extremely tough. The Yankees unquestionably have improved their lineup. Their pitching? We'll see.

@@FlippinBatsPod Oh yeah. Sorry to shortchange them. Guess it is my Rays fandom showing. Jays definitely should be in the mix for a wild card. But not crazy about their pitching. Not feeling it with the Red Sox. But maybe I will be proven wrong.
