They make mistakes because they don't get paid a lot to play baseball and the rules of the game are really hard!!! Keeping track of how many outs there and and how many strikes you have. It's not easy :)
I hate the Yankees but that clip of Arod and Jeter missing the fly ball shouldn't be in this group of dumbest plays. They just started playing together and both had been playing shortstop before this season. It took while to adjust as it usually does.
as bad as the call was, you can definitely blame him for arguing, he at least could’ve stopped 2 runs from scoring. no point of arguing in the middle of a play especially since they didn’t have replay review back then
@@jestice75 Well different umpires would be making the call at different bases though. So even if the 1st base umpire makes a bad call, doesn't mean all the umpires are making a bad call.
That had me laughing and thinking of young days having fun 🤣 (either backyard ball, league play your team doing it thinking “god we suck” or the other team with your friends on laughing you as s off at them).
That happend to my team in provincials I was playing first after the player was already on my teammate threw it over my head the play was already safe outfielder threw to second miss at this point the player was already home thank god there was no one on base and it was a bunt to but we won anyways and only didn’t get into the finals because of the point difference we lost the first game wow I don’t realize how much I talk and I’m the quiet kid💀
I remember watching that. Umpires getting paid BIG money by Ted Turner to be sure the Braves won. The runner was out by 1/2 step. It wasn’t even close the runner was clearly out.
@@mrriaan38182 outs runner on 3rd… Baez hit it to short and short threw it to first on like the home side of first. So first baseman ran Baez down (could have just touched 1st) and the person on 3rd went home to score (he did) and Baez made it to 2nd.
@@ExWitDaFacts well, that's not good. Thanks for the explanation 👍 He really messed that one up, easy end of innings turns into a run and another runner in scoring position. 😔
As soon as I saw a Dodger uniform I knew Yasiel Puig was going to be involved. Dude had HOF talent and parlayed that into getting blackballed from MLB in his prime.
Just because they make a few errors here in there doesn't make it so everyone can do this professionally. If you've never played the game before then you wouldn't even touch a baseball at the plate.
Track down a 1998 (June?) Game with Andruw Jones on the Atlanta Braves, where he lazily fielded a fly ball, and ultimately got both benched and a chew-out by Bobby Cox
I can almost see in the first clip what the fielder was concerned about. The way it landed it looked initially like it was wedged, and maybe he thought if he just signaled immediately instead of risking trying to play it that it might be a better move. I don’t know, just trying to give the benefit of the doubt.
The way it just stops instantly, and partially under the pads, I'd be peaved too. It's lose lose for the player. If you go for it, you un wedge it. The fact it didn't bounce out at all and may have even been obscured from vision, intuition says the ball is probably out of the playable space.
I don’t know how Cespedes thought he would get away with that in that first one. Forget about the fact that the ball is easily obtainable, it’s HIS stadium. He’s playing for the home team. The theory is that the field is designed to give HIS team the advantage.
if it was stuck wouldn't it be ground rule double? So the same thing as if he grabs the ball and throws it in. Thats the worst part, not only a terrible plan but if it did work he doesn't gain anything.
This video just gave me an idea, a new twist on the old "Freaky Friday" Disney remakes every 5 years or so. Instead of one preteen and a parent swapping places and entire little league team swaps places with a pro team. Have it set up that the little league team is set to play a game they can't win. They swap places with the pros the the pros can play as the little leaguers, but the little league players have to play the pros game.
1:48 pretty smart play imo. Can't turn 2 so he throws it home to prevent the run from coming home. Bases loaded yes but force out any base for next hitter.
@@bigdeelew yeah, i would think. not sure how it works. does the third baseman have to call for it? jeter must have thought it was his. i mean he was the ss. somebody should have called it.
