True that. I don't know why announcers make a big deal about a warning. An ump can throw out a guy if it's a pitch that could injure without warning at any time. I know that teams feel like if a starter is thrown out it's a disadvantage, but with the universal DH and pitch counts, it really doesn't matter as much anyway unless it's an ace.

A little backstory on some of these ejections might explain things. There was some commentary about prior warnings or incidents in earlier games, so it is possible the ump was being preemptive with the early hooks as a way of saying this isn't happening on my watch.

The Lackey one was entirely appropriate in my opinion - first pitch was wild and behind the batter, second pitch hits him. Umpire wasn't giving him a third chance. At some point player safety has to come into it. If you can't hit the zone as a pitcher, you shouldn't be playing

They should just make it automatic -- you're tossed for throwing at someone, the manager goes too regardless of if there's a warning or not.

Michael Falkner why the manager? They don’t tell them to hit batters
@michaelfalkner1186
@michaelfalkner1186 4 года назад
@@robertgammett8718 It is assumed that they, in fact, do. That's why the manager is automatically gone if a warning is in place and a pitcher is tossed.

Michael Falkner well they in fact don’t. That’s why they aren’t tossed until they argue. Get your facts straight

@@robertgammett8718 When a warning is given, the assumption is that the manager is telling them to throw at people. After that warning, if the pitcher goes, so does the manager. Get YOUR facts straight.

Here's a solution. Everytime a pitcher hits someone, allow an opposing pitcher to hit them back.

When a pitcher goes high it’s pretty much saying he wants to end your career or worse.

You don’t have to have a warning, they are in the professionals ,, that’s the warning

The rules should be changed so if a batter gets hit,he should get more than a single base.Just for giggles,batter gets to advance to second if below waist.If he is hit above the waist,third base or automatically gets a home run.That will drastically reduce batters being hit.

Can someone explain the reason for ejecting the pitcher? Is it because they did this before in the same game or because it appeared intentional?

Some of these announcers piss me off so much making excuses for hitting batters. It doesn’t matter what the score is, if warnings have been issued or where it hits someone. If you clearly and intentionally throw a projectile 90+ miles per hour at someone, you are trying to hurt them. You should be ejected, fined and maybe suspended. You’re also a fucking idiot. Most of the time it’s about revenge for something. How do you choose to get your revenge? By giving the batter a free base and potentially hurting your own ERA! Brilliant!

The John Lackey ejection is a record to beat. Two pitches in the first inning, adios.

If a pitcher throws a ball and it hits the batter, it should be an automatic ejection!
