What specifically are the players asking for ? And Can the players who agreed upon deals before the lockout who never signed or took the physical flip commitments?
Baseball needs better leadership, at all levels from the Owners to the club houses to some of the players. MLB is killing itself with negatives after the worst 2 seasons of cheating. Hope showed up with Sho time and some other players to return some fun back to the game. But the MLB could not have that! NOW Not content to shoot it's foot MLB took aim at it's other foot. And now has reloaded, aimed at it head, closed it's eyes and brain to reality. Only Superman, Hulk and Skywalker can save it now.
A salary cap would be ok if there was a salary floor, earlier arbitration (after 1 year), earlier free agency (after 4 years), and 100% revenue sharing or a system that provides younger players competitive compensation for performance. Good players need to be paid better earlier (and not as well later in their careers when they are not performing (if that is the case)). There also needs to be an expansion of 2 more teams and expanded playoffs. If there was all of this I think that there would be a lot more viability for more teams to compete unless the organizations were run by complete morons and I think that players would also be happy. If you look at football this is the case. Most teams have a shot to get into the playoffs at least every 4 - 6 years. NFL teams are willing to spend money on free agents/contract extensions, etc. since there is a chance to get into the postseason in the forseeable future. The problem the MLB owners have is they started down a road many years ago thinking they are seperate businesses and now they have to figure out how to fix their own mess which is hard for a bunch of people who do not live in the real world. The players have to give a little too. This could mean a reduction of contract guarantees but that would be a hard sell to them I think.
Thanks for this explanation. I don't think any fans know what happens during lockouts. Quite a heavy legal explanation. Been doing Supreme Court of Nevada Appeals as a proper person myself in a civil rights case. Excited to get back to work writing Android App code myself. You're career is very inspiring! I have suffered from prejudism and I love seeing you carve new paths in MLB.
This is totally bias BS. You represent the players you make a portion of their salary therefore you’re invested completely in their side even the points you agree with or disagree with it still bias You’re not impartial
I would have preferred an agreement of course, but since it did not happen I’m good with the lockout. As a fan I don’t want to see multi millionaires striking.
@@austynferrell4521 Take baseball out of it and look at the rest of the workforce, the big businesses do make big money but also take the risk. Employees don’t run the place. Not saying it’s desirable but it’s how big business works. We have now crossed the 40M per year mark, with 20-30 being quite the norm.
So just to make sure I understand - you don’t want to see”multi millionaires” (which btw more then half the league makes less than a million a year so more than half are not even millionaires) strike but you’re cool with the multi-BILLIONAIRES (doing the ownership equivalent to a player strike) lockout all the players from doing their job?
@@agentrachelluba Rachel, it’s ok if we disagree. Last time the players went on strike it did not go well. I do know the new guys don’t make top dollar. It’s also fair to say you have a vested interest in this. I respect you and think you are a brilliant young woman, hope you are back to working your next MLB contract soon.
@@pierrep2649 Didnt mean my response in an attacking way. And I can fully appreciate a fan who is annoyed or frustrated by a lockout/strike for many reasons - simply just pointing out that if the reason you’re “fine with a lockout just not a strike” is because a strike it’s multi millionaires refusing to work, it would stand to reason that you’d hate a lockout just the same or even more given it is multi BILLIONAIRES refusing to let people work
