Career ending injury will do that for ya. Halladay was on his way to 300 wins too, he would have been the last pitcher to achieve it if he had just 6 more productive seasons. He was winning 15-20 per year. And - Halladay and Randy Johnson are the last of the Complete Game Pitchers -- they averaged 6-7 CG and 2 Shutouts per year over their careers

Max Scherzer should have had a perfect game, but someone put their elbow into the strike zone to end it. At least he got the no-hitter
@chaosawaits
@chaosawaits 4 года назад
Hahaha that's all Scherzer's fault. He threw a terrible slider that was in the wrong location and didn't bite. Tabata doesn't move because he's expecting the pitch to cut in and he doesn't realize that until too late.
@owensmetek4488
@owensmetek4488 4 года назад
chaosawaits no way, Tabata definitely leaned into it. He didn’t even make and effort to avoid it
@chaosawaits
@chaosawaits 4 года назад
@@owensmetek4488 I understand why you might think that but a slider has a particular spin and a hitter who sees that and knows Scherzer throws a hard slider, is going to expect that pitch to move. The broadcasters don't make it any easier for casual fans because they're immediately talking trash. But both Scherzer and Tabata have spoken about this play ad nauseum. You can also see Tabata trying to move out of the way at the very last second when it's already too late. Finally, you're almost never going to see an umpire call a batter on that play because of how difficult it is to read an errant throw in MLB sometimes.

Bob Dole Lol, yeah it was. I think it was the 1st WS year (2010). I started watching the season of ‘08 & they were so bad offensively. I’m pretty sure I remember Kruk or Kuip saying it during one of those interminable 9th innings, up 1-0, trying to pitch out of a 2 on, no out situation..🤣

@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 I've been a Giants fan my whole life, the earliest teams I remember were those 80's Giants who were good enough to be exciting, but were never quite good enough to win a World Series. But for the majority of my time watching them, they'd always had a really dang good closer. Going from Rod Beck to Rob Nen was just awesome, so the "sweet torture" Giants were really tough on me because it was the iffy bullpen that made it such torture. Of course, before then it'd been the starting pitching that was the weak spot for the team - so it's always something. :-)
@chaosawaits
@chaosawaits 4 года назад
@@bobdole4916 it wasn't an iffy pen. They had the best pen in baseball. It was the lack of offense making every minor mistake by that near perfect bullpen a near catastrophe. If the Giants were down by 2, the game was practically over.

Labor Day weekend 2014, I went from Cornwells Heights in the Philadelphia area to Northern New Jersey by train. Going there on Saturday afternoon, I used the MLB app to follow the Yankees game against the Blue Jays in Toronto. The Yankees only got one hit in that game. It was around the 4th inning, so there wasn't any late game no hitter suspense. But it would have been cool to have followed a no hitter online. Which is exactly what happened on my return trip on Monday as I followed the Phillies game against the Braves in Atlanta. That was the one in which four pitchers combined on a no-hitter.

Philippe Simard It is not LITERALLY impossible but you’re right it won’t happen ever
@gunslingingbird74

@@PhilSimard98 It's not "literally impossible". It's VIRTUALLY impossible. Literally impossible would be throwing a perfect game when the other team scores a run. Another virtually impossible scenario is someone forcing 27 straight first-pitch ground outs/ line outs/ pop outs/ fly outs. In theory it's possible, it's just extremely unlikely that it could ever happen.

メジャーリーガーでも、パーフェクトがかかった最後の守備は大事に大事ってプレーしてるのが動画で伝わってきて、人間味がある。それにしても凄い!Even in major leaguers, the video shows that the last defense that was perfect was played with great care, and it has a human touch. But anyway, it's amazing!

Yea normally you don't stick around to thank the pitcher if your team just got a no-no or perfect game thrown against you. Unless you mean the Dodgers did a walk off homer, which is also nice but a no-no beats that. Remember the other team is not happy about the no-hitter, that means your team just got owned, bad. It would be like waking up after being KO'd and thanking the guy that punched you

Arthur Brunnenkant how? You're telling me that a bullpen game (which I believe the Seattle one was, I don't remember if the Phillies combined one was) can't be a no-hitter, even if it ends up where no one gets a hit off them? That's pretty damn stupid if you ask me. I personally think those are even a little more special as EVERYONE that pitches the combined no-no has to have good stuff that night, on top of the the defense being good
@arthurbrunnenkant6444
@arthurbrunnenkant6444 7 лет назад
As a Mariners fan who watched that no-hitter, I can say it's not the same or even special, McClendon used like a pitcher an out the last like 3 innings, just to make sure they got the no-hitter, no-hitters are so rare and special because it's hard for a lot of pitchers to keep it going late in the game when they have high pitch counts so naturally a lot of the time the no-hitter is broken up, but when you get a fresh arm for each batter, usually lefty on lefty and righty on righty, throwing high 90s, it's not really the same, so I wouldn't put those in the same conversation, Iwakuma and Felixs no-hitters were special the combined "no-hitter" was a greedy manager trying to get attention to keep his job and we ended up going on a losing streak after that because the bullpen was worn down from that game, so that is how they are not no hitters.

Useless notes 2007 If Mark Buerhle hadn't walked Sammy Sosa on a 3-2 pitch he would be the owner of 2 perfect games (Sosa was picked off 2 pitches later emulating Andy Pettit'es deceptive lefty windup) 2009 Jonathan Sanchez - long reliever tabbed the spot starter in place of the injured Randy Johnson barely 4 hours prior to first pitch 2011 headline read Justin-like: Took a perfect bid into the 8th before a 1 out walk. Unjustin-like: Of the 27 outs, only 4 were strikeouts 2013 Tim Lincesum was the losing pitcher in Homer Bailey's no hitter then 2 starts later he himself tossed his own no hitter 2015 Mike Fiers was last minute added luggage in a Brewers-Astros trade that focused on coveted OF Carlos Gomez. In a cruel twist of fate, Carlos Gomez patrolling CF handled zero of the 27 outs 2015 Max Scherzer Pt 1 26 perfect outs before an HBP, but replays suggest pinch hitter Tabata intentionally leaned into the pitch as a middle finger to Max 2015 Scherzer pt 2 Mets fans disregard this game as an asterisk=The Mets had already clinched the NL East and to eliminate freak injuries mere days before the postseason, Max was gifted a AAA lineup disguised as a MLB lineup
