I think these old timer has such a one track minds that is so difficult to change. THEY are the ones that has to think outside the box rather than try to squeeze Ohtani into their old beaten path of thinking what is baseball. Ohtani is modernizing the game and showing the dynamics of a much more multifaceted game instead of just specializing in one category and just try to hit one extra over the previous guy! It’s boring!!🥱
Keep doubting him. A pundits job is to perpetuate fear and stodgy conventionality. Ohtani has proved everyone wring, time and time again. He loves pitching and the numbers prove that he performs even better at the plate when he is pitching. Sure he might get hurt, sure he might tire out. So what? He's playing for the joy of the sport. Which players, coaches and other "professionals" preach all the time. "For the love of the game." Shut up and let him.
When they said Ohtani should not be MVP, they woke the sleeping giant, poked the bear, grabbed the tiger by the tail, played with fire, opened Pandora's box, bit off more than they could chew, walked into the lion's den, shot themself in the foot, stole John Wick's car and killed his dog, stepped on Elvis's blue suede shoes, put a hit on Vito Corleone, lit the fuse, said hello to Tony Montana's little friend, drank the Kool-aid, unleashed the Kraken, wrote a check they could not cash, crossed the Rubicon, told Tommy Devito to go home and get his shinebox, leaped before looking, painted themself into a corner, tried to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, called Marty McFly a chicken, rocked the boat, stepped on a crack, pissed off Bruce Banner, did not stay in their lane and know their role, assassinated Archduke Ferdinand, ate the poison apple, told Fonzie he was wrong, had a plan but was hit in the face by Mike Tyson, captained the Exxon Valdez, touched a nerve, messed with the wife of a jealous man, jumped out of the frying pan into the fire, checked into the Hotel California, counted their chickens before they hatched, put their foot in their mouth, brought a knife to a gunfight, missed the boat, was caught with their pants down, ran into a brick wall, let the dogs out, bombed Pearl Harbor, broke a mirror, walked under a ladder, crossed paths with a black cat, dug their own grave, barked up the wrong tree, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, did not look both ways before crossing the street, looked a gift horse in the mouth, stirred up a hornet's nest, called the kettle black, was struck by lightning, bit the hand that feeds them, dropped a bar of soap in a men's prison shower, brought cannabis to Russia in luggage, screwed the pooch, made it completely FUGAZI and FUBAR, went on a fool’s errand, let the fox in the henhouse, built castles out of sand, ran with scissors, licked a frozen pole, put themselves in harm’s way, judged a book by its cover, was blinded by the light, put all their eggs in one basket, took the blue pill, effed around and found out, cried over spilt milk, got a taste of their own medicine, gave up their day job, went on a wild goose chase, smoked at a gas station, kicked against the goads, ran with the bulls, stepped on a rake, texted while drinking and driving, tempted fate, threw caution to the wind, painted a bullseye on their back, slipped on a banana peel, dropped the ball, stirred the pot, crossed wires, swam with the sharks, danced with the devil, tripped over a land mine, became a fly in the ointment, a monkey in the wrench and a pain in the ass, went down in flames, fell from grace, got their comeuppance, threw good money after bad, faced the music, stepped into quicksand, burned their bridges, did not play with a full deck, sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind, went up the creek without a paddle, had their goose cooked, doused fire with gasoline, cut off their nose to spite their face, fell on their sword, pooped their pants, threw stones in a glass house, told Clint Eastwood they feel lucky, invested in Enron stock, sailed aboard the Titanic, tugged on Superman's cape, spit into the wind, pulled the mask off the old Lone Ranger and messed around with Jim.
@@Kane-ib5sn No, just thought a lot about it and also Googled stuff. I am sure there are a ton more idioms or phrases relating to people making mistakes or bad consequences. I don't know how to use AI, but it seems pretty scary that computers are doing our thinking for us.
Him pitching is not an issue, because he's a great pitcher. The issue is risk of injury. He already had 2 TJ surgeries. Too much risk of getting injured again and him being out of the line up is a huge liability for the team as well as the owner.
@@asiantrick24 what’s he going to do tear his UCL again? We’ve already seen that him getting hurt on the pitching side doesn’t stop him from being one of the best hitters in the sport. Let him pitch and let him hit. If he wants to pitch and hit and play the outfield he should do that if he wants. There is nobody in the world who is qualified to tell Shohei Ohtani that he can’t do something in the sport of baseball because everyone who has told him that so far has been wrong.
6 man rotation needs to be adopted not just for Ohtani’s sake but for the sake of all starting pitchers. Pitchers these days throw harder putting more pressure on their shoulders and elbows, which have produced unprecedented IL pitchers. Slippery MLB balls is one issue and 5 man rotation is another for IL. Slippery ball issue may not be solved right away, given MLB is partial owner of ball manufacturers. Change from 5 to 6 man rotation can be achieved immediately. Cost more you think ? Not in a way MLB contracts are written to player in which IL players get paid as players on the field.
Why does he have to make a choice? Just do both until you can't pitch lmao. They're acting like he hasn't had a 3.13 ERA while hitting 40+ bombs when he's healthy. It's not rocket science.
Im starting to think Ohtani has surpassed Ruth from a pitching point of view. Apparently Andruw Jones said he was a very very good outfielder. Maybe Ohtani adds to his lore... And plays the outfield
the Dodgers need to petition the MLB execs to allow Ohtani to be a closer or middle reliever, and still be a DH or outfielder...i don't see how he can last too long with consecutive Tommy John surgeries for the rest of his career.
The only relevant question is - what does Shohei want to do? - because if Shohei wants to be a starting pitcher, he is GOING to be a starting pitcher. This is his dream, and no manager or GM is dumb enough to tell him he can't pitch and kill the golden goose. In 2021 he would have easily hit over 50 home runs under the present format while being in the rotation full-time - he missed all his at-bats in National League parks (no DH until 2022) as well as not hitting after left the mound (no "Ohtani Rule" until 2022) and he still hit 46 home runs. Ya, you'd be giving up a few stolen bases - but only on days that he was pitching to conserve his strength - and for that you're not going to utilize him as a potential 15-20 game winner on the mound? If, and when, it comes time for Ohtani to give up pitching he will know and he will make that decision himself.
Was thinking if they’ll want to put the spurs on him stealing so much next season or not? I don’t believe they would tell him not to play a specific way I mean they pay him for his talent and Acumen for playing the game.
Lol. They're showing barrels stats just so Aaron Judge can be ahead of him. Barrels is not an official stats in mlb, hitting the ball at 98mph just show powered behind the swings. Ohtani is on pace for 98 XBH and 406 total bases..those are real stats.
I think they should let him pitch as long as posible. 8f he gets another tommy john try to make him a closer with 1 day rest of a game the other he pitches. If it doesnt work than let him field.
Ohtani is the Goat 🐐 an Ace pitcher with a career 3.01 ERA and 11.1 Ks (can win 15 games with a 2.33 ERA in a season) and also hit 50 HRs and have 50 stolen bases. Speed Power and an Ace pitcher, even Babe Ruth never did that.
I'd put him in right field and have him relieve where needed but never be a starter. That way they wouldn't lose his bat and just move him back to right if not effective pitching
They sit here and say that because he different field, he was able steal that many bases!! Well, according to the history of baseball we've had the DH position in the past. None have come close to a 50/50 so I'm not sure why they would even throw that in there. If anything, pitching is harder then fielding and he managed to crack 40+ homeruns while pitching during the season!!!!
Roki is the most overrated player. He has never completed a season without injury in NPB, even though he only pitches once a week. Despite not making much of an impact with his current team, he has expressed a desire to go to MLB, which has garnered him a significant number of critics in Japan. His situation is completely different from Ohtani, who was supported by many when he came to MLB.
This take is bad. The most dominant week in baseball history is up for debate. 1. Dave Steib in September of 1988: He threw back to back 1 hit shutouts. Both games were within 1 strike of being no hitters. 2. Mark Burhle of the white socks -- Threw a perfect game, then in his next start had a perfect game into the 8th inning. 3. Josh Hamilton in 2012 in May... Had a 4 HR game, and hit BA 0.500 with 9 HR and 20+ RBI in single week. Do not Forget history guys.
Josh Hamilton did it in a regular season meaningless game Ohtani did it down the stretch when winning the games matter. Big difference Also, clinching a milestone The rest are defensive games, not offence
