AJ Preller is in way over his head micromanaging every level of the organization. He’s an old school scout that believes talent will produce regardless of the major league player development systems in place, or lack thereof for them. Their baseball ops department is reportedly cheap and archaic, in addition to having poor advanced scouting (lengthy track record of hitters looking outmatched against rookie pitchers). The organization is never winning a WS w/ Preller in charge.

AJ Tingler Preller is a demon that needs to be exorcised from the front office with holy water and oil. Since the Soto trade the Padres have played well below .500 so he has made zero difference in wins and the overall team record. He can be traded in the offseason.

I love this team but you just gotta feel for em man. Great run differential but something just isn't clicking.

Nah this team is so unlikeable. The quotes coming out of the clubhouse from so called stars and their lack of a clutch gene is maddening. 😡 They have good run differential because they run up the score when it doesn’t matter. They front run and strut like peacocks trying to show up one another when leading. Can’t win in one run games or in extra innings. That’s who they really are. 7-23 one run games. And 0-12 in extra innings.

2020 Tampa Bay Rays are the opposite. You can name Some players now. But when they were in the Playoffs, alot more MLB fans DID not know their names than did know.

I don't agree with you regarding Preller. He made mistakes, like many GMs throughout the game's history. His biggest mistake was putting together a bunch of players who simply can't play as a team, they play for themselves. A better approach in this matter is to define the personality of each individual in the club, elaborating a different perspective of the matter and, perhaps, the share of blame. Does Machado have a good relationship with Tatis Jr., with Soto? And the captain? Stuff like that.

His biggest mistake is having zero success of developing homegrown players into All-Star caliber players. Tatis doesn’t count as he was originally signed by the White Sox. It speaks volumes where the Orioles rebuilt their organization from scratch after 2018 and did something Preller has still failed to do, and that’s win 90 games w/ a roster highlighted by very promising homegrown players. It shows how far the Padres are behind the times in their baseball operations department. They’re never winning nor making a World Series w/ Preller running the show.
