Shout out to every single one of you who was there until the bitter end of the OG server sunset. That was some of the best Halo I’ve ever played. No gaming experience will ever come close to this era of Xbox 360 Halo. This was more than a game - it was something you grew up with. This shared experience is ours forever
Plenty of good shooters have come out since then but nothing has matched the multiplayer of halo 2 and 3. The attention to detail bungie had back then, and their willingness to support the game after launch is something we might never see again in a modern shooter.
Problem with H3 is the lack of customizability. The game wasn't meant to be played competitively and lacked a few options. For awhile before an update, you couldn't adjust the plant timer on the bomb in Assault, it was instant no matter what. There's no real map editor and Forge was never truly meant to make new maps, just create variations for weapon placement and such (which it does pretty well). As a result, everything turns into Warlock/Midship-like maps in Forge with rarely anything new being created. I like H3 as much as you but the community needed more tools to keep this game alive, and MLG not switching to Reach.
Derrick Hobbs Could you adjust the damage of individual weapons? Could you edit strafe speed and normal walking speed individually? How about having more than one type of custom powerup? We were able to adjust a lot about Halo 3, and thankfully we landed on good settings, but we couldn’t have everything we wanted. I’d say that the lack of a true map editor (and admittedly poor networking on anything but LAN and even then you’re still occasionally getting bloodshots) is what makes this game prone to stagnation more than individual settings. We’ve had MLG v8 forever now. It’s time to change, and hopefully with 343 adding modding support soon next year we can get that.
These were the glory days of gaming. I have never played any game as much as I played Halo 3 and Reach. Matchmaking, Forge and Customs games (fat kid, JengaTowers, Mexican bull, ghost busters, cops n robbers, and countless other game types and maps). Man I miss that shit so much...
You can still play homie . The community is coming back believe it or not. Watch single halo clips on YT also. I play MCC everyday, always find games, I always find games on competitive doubles, H3 Team, and H3 team hardcore. You’d be surprised the OGs are still there. As for MLG, sad what 343 has done to halo with the new ones like 4 & 5 . Halo used to be one of the best competitive games ever now it’s a meme
MLG is just another level! I don't know how they can concentrate on aiming while they're constantly relaying information to each other at a lightning pace!
It’s just practise and being inherently built to play games a bit better than most. Same for any competitive sport. You need the natural talent to go pro, and then you need the practise, because there’s 1000’s of people out there with the potential. That being said, when they say you’re the best in the world, there was only truly a limited field who could truly compete with you.
This was the peak of fps games. The genre has since devolved into tedious subgenres that either involve playing rock paper scissors with overpowered abilities or wandering around a pointlessly big map in an agonizingly slow elimination scenario.
Me and my friends would dominate online from Halo 2 to Halo 3…one time we won 61 games in a row, that was our longest win streak and record still held today. 8nemUP 💪🏻
@@joerowland2625 We mostly played against 44 ranks or higher. Moons, eclipses, comets, suns and Halo Rings. Once you got past level 43 your rank was a pictures We 100% would’ve beat them 40% of the time, not a single doubt
@@omegakilo871 Nope LAN is a completely different experience Your online rank means nothing Online can't be taken seriously since it's all about ping, location, internet, host etc etc So your friends winning 61 games means absolutely nothing. It would if it was at a MLG event at LAN but online that's means nothing
Halo 3 was the first game i ever played online for xbox 360 and played it for 3 days straight literally online. Longest game i stayed playing too till mw2 came out.
I’ll never put as many hours into a game as I have put in H2 and H3. I’ve been playing both since their releases and I play even more on the MCC there’s no reason we can’t make them last forever IMO. The peak of gaming.
I hop on MCC every once in a blue moon for fun and man I'm no where near as good as I was back in the H3 glory days, but is all for the nostalgic feeling.
Halo 3 shouldn’t have been dropped from MLG. They should have kept it going. Top pros didn’t like the game, I get it but lots of people did. When they left a new group would come. I’d the support from bungie and mlg stayed Halo would have remained. Reach, 343, and MLG effectively killed the greatest console competitive shooter of all time
Skill gap isn't as much as before in modern shooters, and no pro tournament gameplay looks "over the top" unless there's a huge skill difference between teams. I mean you are playing against an organized team of pro players. I'm way more impressed on how some of those guys survived in specific situations than someone pulling an overkill in modern Halo
@@johnathanshakewellesquirei8615 yes, on controller. In my opinion who hasn't played Competitive halo can't fully understand how over the top bananas skilled those guys were. The movement some of them had felt like they were everywhere and nowhere at the same time
@@johnathanshakewellesquirei8615 thats not the case for Halo Esports. Pros all use controller still. I believe it's required to play controller for LAN events.
This was peak of gaming in my opinion. I don’t think it will ever reach this. No matter what the grand prize is. Also games you listed off were solid games because the original creative minds behind them were in their primes. Companies like 343 or others taking over these legacies will never be able to hold a candle to these games.
Not even with just the mlg...everything about halo 3 was the best in xbox history....ANY online type of console...pc whatever there will...nothing will beat the memories of halo 3 on xbox 360. Whether it was joking videos on youtube of halo 3, full lobby custom games infection playing all night, just the people on there playing online were the best. Dont rememeber HOW many clans i joined in halo 3 haha..miss those days.
man this community could of been greater than smash... but they left a sure thing halo3 for the unknown reach i like reach but h3 had much better games for MLG.
Such a different play style to today’s game, slower pace, slower aim sensitivity, seems human… Today everyone has insane aim, and the game speed is just so fast…
A long time ago I remember getting matched with Fearitself (Unless someone else had that Gamertag) on this exact map when I was 16 or 17 at the time and completely shook I was in a match with him lol. I'm pretty sure it was him though because they were a 50 and good lol.
Back when H3 wasnt garbage... Mcc isnt the same at all... They changed H3 in mcc and its annoying the spawns r a all fucked so teams literally spawn randomly on the map when they die... Smh I just want this exact game back so me and my friends can play... All they had to do was just completely remaster H3 that's it. Every halo after H3 is complete garbage. I miss when video games were about the players and not about the money.
@@KobeJordanHakeem Reach is dog shit that's why all the pros stopped playing it and also why halo was taken off the MLG circuit 😂... But yeah reach is a classic.
@@airconditioningunit9777 stuck in the past to play a game that actually took skill and not the trash modern day generic shooter they r trying to sell now? Yeah I'll stay stuck in the past easily. That's why classic halo is still played more then modern day halo.
No Thats was an account called Lunchbox But not actually Lunchbox And anyway Fat Rat could be cheating because he only plays online You have to prove himself on LAN Fat Rat only farms social kids who are complete noobs. Also H3 MCC is far easier to shoot then OG H3
