If you aren't an Aesop Rock fan.. you need to be.. Slug and Aesop were on DOOM's last track before he died. It's off Atmosphere's album tracked Barcade... dope ass track, if you wanna hear his last verse ever.
I'd like to add something I haven't seen discussed yet, but the track Kon Karne is actually dedicated to his late younger brother, who he was in a rap group KMD with. Subroc (the younger brother) was struck by a car and a week later, the record label would drop KMD. every supervillain needs a backstory
Thank you so much for this I had no idea. It goes to show how many layers his albums have. You can find something new every listen. I also love he kept making music after that, and even did so to help honor his brothers legacy
awesome video man! the only songs not produced by him on this were potholderz (produced by count bass d) , one beer (produced by madlib) and kon queso (produced by pns)
the metaphor/allusion for food on this album is the rap industry at the time, which is still relevant today. bad food is an illusion to taste good and is why people eat, yet there is real food that is good for you to eat. he's saying the industry is bad food when he is there to deliver the good food.
bad food builds a habit in someone that turns them into only consuming bad food. healthy food is there, but the bad food casts a "disgust" to the consumers of bad food. that's why doom ain't gone mainstream, cuz the industry is full of bad food that the population is so eager to eat up.
back in the day (maybe still?) certain special needs people would wear helmets so that if they tripped and fell they wouldn't hurt their head. that's what the "'tarded helmet" line is conveying.
