If you haven't watched Megalo Box yet, go watch it now on Netflix and Funimation it's an amazing anime with a wonderful story and superb music. There are so many good boxing fight scenes in this anime, but we decided to go with Joe's first professional fight against Shark Samejima to allow Chad to discuss his backstory as a professional fighter. With that being said, as always, THANK YOU so much for the support, make sure to share this video with your friends, share in different anime communities, and let us know which fight scene you want us to breakdown next!
Want to thank you again for this channel. You guys just checking off the boxes on everything I want to see. Love the humor and content as always. If constant gratitude is what you need to keep the channel going, I will gladly give it.
Keep the breakdowns coming and would love to see another top films or scenes for specific actors like you did with Iko Uwais. Also maybe something related to the history of the martial arts that you breakdown on the videos. I'm in for anything you guys produce so keep the good work.
I'm happy to see you guys covering Megalobox. It's such a good anime. In a world of mechanically enhanced boxers that aren't, mostly, as skilled as past fighters I love the dynamic of a fighter bringing the skill back to the sport without using the 'gear'. Such a good story and you guys did a great job of explaining the concepts and moves used in the Joe vs Shark fight.
It's such a great fighter's journey. Gearless Joe just wants to find out how good he really is as a fighter, his true skill. He's from the slums and never had that opportunity to prove his worth. I think a lot of people can relate to the idea of just proving to yourself on a public stage that you're worth as much as you believe you are despite other's opinions.
I feel joe is literally a junk yard dog, trained yo protect his loved ones, and grew up on garbage, but still strong enough to bite your f*ing head off! But that's why it's probably my fav (boxing) anime, and season 2 is just amazing for the story and the family part of Meglaboxing❤️💯
@@ScenicFights yup. Hajime no ippo. But the fights are long 💀. If you could do takamura vs hawk that’d be awesome cuz there is some moves that are just crazy
This anime actually has a second season and it's called megalo box nomad. To me as a casual viewer, the fight scenes there improved especially in episode 7 (liu vs joe) and i'm curious what you think of it as someone who knows what they're talking about
YES! YES! Finally some appreciation for nomad! It went completely under the radar of many which is a damn shame! Easy contender for best anime of the year (at least sequel) and pretty much holds best ost in its grasp already.
Here's the thing about that no one really wants to talk about that stuff because of the traumatic things they go through so I'm not saying it's bad to want to know but I do highly doubt that it's going to happen because everyone that gets out of that scenario never thinks it's a badass story everyone thinks f*** I'm glad I'm out of there
Loved this! You guys should do "Book of Eli" with Denzel Washington. Denzel was trained in Kali with the assistance of Dan Inosanto, a training partner of Bruce Lee.
I like the part where you explained how you felt with your feet and nerves a lot. In the Hajime no ippo show I spoke of in another comment the main character at a point felt like he was under water from some condition. The fight got drawn out and he couldn’t breathe properly.
Love this!!! The footwork at 7:05 reminds me of the anime " Kenichi the mightiest disciple " It's exaggerated in the anime of course, but glad to learn it's based on real technique. Great job!
@@elmachogamer1009 100% agree!!! The show is absolutely underrated. I feel that we could all learn a lot from breaking down the show into the actual techniques like these guys at Scenic Fights do. Definitely a motivator of an anime!!!
Wow thank you for explaining why they take a good minute to get back up. I always thought in scenes it was for drama, now I know it’s actually realistic.
I've noticed in most boxing practices I've been in most of the coaches always told me and taught me it's all about perception and flow and expecially seeing new boxers in this day in age there's great truth to that
Really appreciate how you talked about footwork, you don't hear about that often when it comes to boxing/striking. Also that little man from somewhere part lol, as always you guys never disappoint with your content, keep it up and I can't wait to see what you breakdown next.
Haha Logan is The Man From Somewhere lol. Glad you enjoy our breakdowns and silly jokes. Is there any particular fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!?
Loved this anime, the art is awesome and the action too, is a well deserved rendition of Ashita no Joe, is very old, but a great manga, haven't seen the anime though. Keep the great content mates. BTW, anything of Scott Adkins on the furnace or there are still not enough recommendations about him? Any of his films will be good to check.
Im no pro boxer, but good breakdown. Learnt a few things about footwork. And the overhand right is by far my favorite finishing punch to see. Never landed one so effectively myself though. Like the effort guys, and even more, like Logan's choice of socks. The orange really sets the mood. Your underground fighting sounds interesting... when is the documentary coming out
Logan changes his socks every breakdown lol. Glad you noticed it. We might discuss more about Chad's underground fighting dance in the future for sure.
Thank you! When people buy T-shirts from our store, that money goes into subtitles :) Therefore, buy a t-shirt if you can here: scenicfights.creator-spring.com/
Loved this, you guys should break down the Dempsey roll from hajime no ippo, I think the way Chad broke down footwork with the jab in this was fantastic btw
Thank you! We do our best to make these fight scene breakdowns as detailed and as fun as possible for anyone to understand. Is there any other fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!?
It cools that the anime used real boxing techniques. Also it would be cool if the creators used more unique boxing styles like emanuel augustas, he would literally dance to set up his punches and slips, at time he wouldn't punch at all, cross his hand behind his back and just just faints.
Glad you found it motivating! It's one of the reasons why Chad wanted to do this fight scene breakdown to share a bit about his fight history. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend Megalo Box. The anime itself is very inspirational too!
Thanks for the video! It made me appreciate both the attention to detail that the anime has and also the amount of thought that goes into boxing as a sport.
Glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to subscribe and watch our Attack on Titan breakdown ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p_Gg5vgamxI.html Is there any other anime fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next?
Loved this video!! Guys are amazing. After watching a few videos, the communication there guys give makes the viewers feel connected! They are so chill, and passionate! Love it
I feel like it would've been worth mentioning that Joe's team used prior knowledge of sharks fighting style. sharks character was popular for having a short temper and fighting dirty, making Joe's aggressive defense strat THAT much more effective
Great video as always, guys. Could you breakdown one of the fights from The Raid: Redemption someday? It's an awesome movie with some of my favorite hand-to-hand combat scenes + knife fights.
You guys are one of the best channels on RU-vid. Wish I had the disposable income to buy your merch but I watch and like all your videos. You guys have so much fun with it. Feels like I'm watching a couple of my bros mess around on camera
No worries! Liking, commenting and subscribing helps us SO MUCH! Thank you for enjoying our content. And yes, we're simply a couple bros messing around and camera. It's fun.
Id love to see you all breakdown Hajime no Ippo, its old but its one of my top 5 favorite anime and is very much inspired by real boxing and its history
KENGAN ASHURA and Megalobox were the two shows that made me start do some boxing lessons at my college and I’m still practicing and hopefully slowly get to mma. This channel is a BIG inspiration and keep it up
This video gave me such an invaluable info that it has made me realise something very important not as much about fighting but about my life in general. Many thanks to Chad for sharing his experties!
We agree with this comment. Fighting doesn't just occur in the boxing ring. It happens throughout life. Working for food, working for money, working for your goals etc...If you want to accomplish anything in your journey, you must believe in yourself first. That's half the battle. A great quote from Creed is this: “You see this guy staring back at you? That’s your toughest opponent. I believe that’s true in the ring and I think that’s true in life.” Creed Clip: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jyNtMzHeJ6I.html
@@ScenicFights thank you very much for that response! You've actually enhanced the thought that occured in my mind quite a bit with that refference! I am going to go to sleep today with a rather fulfilled state of mind. I actually used to think about it recently how it's important to never be at war with your own self whenever you face your adversaries. How can you defeat your opponent when you have to fight 2 people at the same time, right?
Being a fighter whether it's in the ring, the octagon, or just getting through life, is all about your mental state of mind. You have to believe in yourself first if you want to accomplish anything.
Would love to hear more about you guys' backstories. Gotta echo all the calls for a Hajime no Ippo breakdown, and if I can throw one more suggestion out there, maybe Narihisago vs. The Challenger from ID: Invaded?
Ohh hell yes I love this anime! Also I think it was great that Chad talked a bit about his story. I'd also love to watch you guys react to Hajime no Ippo!
Also I started looking for Silat and other not japanese martial arts after reading the manga History Strongest Deciple Kenichi, there are a lot of good martial arts, always with a lot of exaggerated characteristics, but still pretty good to find information on some cool martial arts and research later.
@@ep-wz8fu damn thats some old s***, here was hard to get stuff, some people had dishes and we got to see Those Who Hunt Elves, Saber Marionette J, Bubble Gum Crisis, Ninja Scroll and some other weird stuff on BettaMax, until we got later better things like Ghost In The Shell, Evangelion, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Akira and of course everything Ghibli... Now is easy but back then you had to look for it hard, it has always been like that here (Cuba)
I'm glad you are a fan of the show too! Megalobox is such a fantastic anime! Anyone reading this should watch Season 1 and Season 2 Megalobox 2: Nomad.
Mr.V you representing the BX respect. Also hey man you made it to MSG the most famous arena 2nd respect. Call me bias I love supporting a fellow New Yorker
First Vid ever seen but is Chad Vázquez an actor or has some camera training? Pretty clear he knows his strengths on camera and knows how to talk to it. And amazing job with Megalobox, loved the break down!
The daily post-production team is made up of there individuals: Me (Jay) - The Editor Nick - The Colorist, Animator Rob - The Sound Designer, Mixer Just a bunch of marital arts fan that makes these during our spare time! We also have an awesome production team which includes, Tom, Kyle, Two Jasons, and myself. Sometimes we enlist help from our friends too! All this is self-funded by us and we basically make no money from it :) We just enjoy making content.
Another great video, Scenic Fights! Love these videos and breakdowns, always love seeing these two guys nerd out about both their expertise and films + anime. Chad mentions aggressive defence here, and even mentions Mayweather as an example. Whats his take on the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight? Many people ragged on the aggressive defense in that fight, making the winning decision highly controversial. Keep doing what you do, guys! I pray that your videos get more traction... i don't ever want these videos to end!
speaking of boxing, I know it’s not anime related but idk if anyone has mentioned Mike Tyson’s fight scene in Ip Man 3. At the beginning the way Mike approaches Donnie with the sway-like boxing footwork (idk what it’s officially called sorry I’m uneducated Reee) is just so terrifying. I know it’s not really a traditional “fighting scene” because you have Donnie Yin doing Wing Chung so it’s kinda hard to analyze the whole scene but I think his way to adapt the fight is interesting too.
You've been here long enough to know we do more than just anime! Great request. Mike Tyson vs Donnie Yen is a really fun fight scene with much to discuss.
@@ScenicFights yeah I know I’m saying that just because this is an anime related episode so I don’t wanna come off strange or anything lol. That’s great! Looking forward to your content, anime or not!
Hey guys! I love your stuff!! I would love to see you break down Ong Bak 2 and some James Bond (I was thinking some of the knife scenes from Quantum of Solace?)
You guys need to do “Hajime no Ippo” amazing boxing anime. Ippo V. Sendo II would be an amazing breakdown. There’s a whole 1 1/2 video on RU-vid of the fight compiled together
A scene I think you would enjoy breaking down is the Roper vs Bolo fight from Enter the Dragon. It's an oldie but a goodie! Also the Batman vs Bane fights in The Dark Knight Rises. Love the channel guys, can't wait to see what you do next!
