One tip that I humbly like to add is, expect bruises, pain and mistakes. This is not to let you fear the play but it's to let you know it's ok. It's ok to be hit hard sometimes or to get a wrong punch that is harder than it should be. It's a tough game so be tough. Tip two, leave you emotions out, all of them (partners) are brothers in the gym. Hard feelings are not allowed. Give him five and it's gone.
I have to disagree with that, I used to think this way when I first started I got good at boxing really quick, and 8 months in I decided to have MMA sparing with another beginner who has a wrestling background and hits very hard, up until this point I had boxing and kickboxing sparing sessions but not full on mma, we spared for a long time and I went home happy, but apparently I took too many shots to the head in the clinch, I sustained some brain damage, I'm not gonna get into that subject, but it's one of the scariest things that can happen to anyone, so if you're a beginner please don't be too tough for your own good. Floyd Mayweather says it best; the less you get hit the more you can last, so make it your number one priority not to get hit clean on the head.
@@adamzoubi96 in the video, number 6. he basically says dont hunt for KO's or hurt opponents. Kinda wonder if you watched the video before writing your comment ...
Adam zoabi If you got hit so often and hard clinching during an ordinary sparring in the gym, I guess your coach has some responsibility of organization and check during his own lessons. In the mma gym I have classes with constant checkings especially during sparring.
Your comment got me thinking today so I made a video about it. You didn't ask a question but just commented, however I think this is an important subject so I decided to address it. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dXidvC9x_iQ.html
I'm 17 and am out of shape, I'm not fat but i have bad stamina and have excess fat in my legs, i wanna start mma to not only get into shape but to stop my lazy habits, i wanna be a fighter and not just a competent one, i wanna be a great one, and by January i hope to have the body and health for my training
One of the biggest things for myself, especially in kickboxing, is accepting that some movements will feel "wrong" and can make one feel silly. Disregard this feeling! Driving a car surely felt awkward at first.
I’m still having this problem with my left hook. My coach is telling me it’s damn near perfect but my elbow isn’t high enough. The problem comes that when I throw with my elbow higher it feels so robotic and stiff and slower. It just feels so much better to throw my hook with a little dip in the elbow. I know why he’s telling me to throw my hook like that but it just doesn’t feel better
I don't want to compete, though I'll never say never. I just want to lose weight, get fit, learn how to fight and to defend myself and especially learn how to grapple effectively to help me in my career (I work in a uniformed emergency service that involves restraining people). Already done Karate for 3 years to brown belt level.
Good for you man, i haven't started yet but i wanna be a great fighter and have no prior training other than light boxing training, but i still desperately wanna do it.
Thank you so much for your content. Im a 16yo boy from South Africa and im about to start training in MMA, I want to be UFC lightweight champion one day and your videos help a lot . Thank you
A comment about 5: Be grateful you're at a gym that even offers wrestling sessions! I'm not aware of any in my area (and where I train, wrestling is only incorporated in mixed/advanced BJJ classes).
Thank you for doing these Videos. I plan on starting MMA and have no experience so far. Your tips are really helpful and very interesting so thanks very much 👍
Im getting hooked to addiction since im 15. im 23 now, and i feel like going to mma gym next week. I've been lazy and insecure and so shy, and I hope everything is going well, thanks to this video.
Go for it, don't think about it. Do sam quick research and check a few places out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OfA5_-Seg_c.html And make sure to get professional help with whatever addiction you have problem with.
I’m watching this video because I find MMA interesting, I want yo learn, I’m a former women’s baseball player, but now I’m not in a good shape because I’ve been busy with my work. I really want to learn the discipline of this sport and I want to start this 😊❤️
I'm 21 year old college student and I'm broke. I'm only watching RU-vid videos to learn how to fight and defend myself when necessary. I choose MMA over bodybuilding because I know that learning how to fight is a ln important skill for a man and it gives you unstoppable confidence. I'm grinding for almost 2 months. Peace!
About the nutritional part: don't stop eating čevapi na kajmak and a glass of kiselo mleko! 🥊💪 Another great video by the way! I'll come over to the gym and say hi when in Bg if possible!
I agree with you, also about the bodybuilding part, I am 1,85m and was 66kgs and was taekwondo champion, then I went to the gym and went to 96kgs, this killed my fighting, one is contrary to the other, one doesn't complement the other. I am working on my cardio from scracth to get used to my new body and weight, my calves got overwhelmed by the new weight compromising my foot work that was awsome
If you get ur calves used to ur 96kg weight and cut down to 90 kilos you should hold a lot of weight while being fast!! Also it will increase ur muscle endurance
For the weight training part, would you recommend more of a conjugate powerlifting program, where you have 2 heavy/2 explosive days, or focus more in Olympic lifting, where the entire purpose is for explosive strength
Me too if I ranked what I like the most to the least in mma is: wrestling (any takedown technique) >jiu-jitsu (Brazilian jiu-jitsu) >punches >knees>elbows >kicks
Hi coach im a mma begginer and you said its gonna take a while to get to sparring but my gym put me to spar on the very first day. I get frustrated not necessarily because im "losing" but because there is nothing really I can do about it, for example if I get punched I get frustrated not because of the punch but because of the fact I don't know how to defend the punch. Also it's very hard for me to remember when the coach shows us some drills especially on the ground. Any advice would be appreciated.
@@MMACoach79 i don't think there is another mma club in town, however the people told me the coach is new only a month in and he is pretty young just transitioned from a fighter to a coach and he loves sparring. But there is an older coach that for some reason doesn't train mma anymore and people told me that he doesn't make begginers spar, and he teaches basics and he really explains things good (I did have one striking basics class without sparring tho). They don't seem like a bad club in fact they are the best in my country from what I can see.
Can someone help me out. I don’t have much power however I’m very good at take downs and submission moves and I’m also very quick and agile. My question is does anyone know what style would be best suited for me?
It is impossible to give such an answer just by this short and very general description. Your style will crystalize through years of training, trial and error. You will naturally gravitate towards certain techniques and strategies according to your personality and physical capabilities. If you need help with your training, check this out: mmacoach.net/online-personal-mma-training/
It was my dream to become a UFC fighter, I trained bjj with the xande & saulo riberio from 13-17 years old but due to life I had to go a different direction. I’m now 26 years old and still want to fulfill my dream. Do you have any advice for me? Is it to late?
Too old for what? For becoming a UFC champion - I don't know, and it's not just about age. For becoming your best self - never. In a few years of constant training you will not recognize yourself. Here is a video about it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-By9Ty1g6k6I.html
i want to join mma since frieds in school go to thai boxing and are really strong so incase they might go crazy and try and beat me i can protect myself
@@MMACoach79 nothing but i have winter break so i cant enter MMA. they said im waiting for it to be over and they told me i had to start grappeling and muay thai before i can start MMA
I'm 28, I have no combat experience. I was wondering if I should do boxing, bjj and muay Thai before doing mma. I'm just worried it would take too long to follow that route
Hi, I have a boy who is very passionate about contact sports (wrestling, muay thai, boxing, MMA) He is 7 years old. I wanted to ask you to tell me what would be the best way to develop his motor skills and to become a complete fighter (if he likes it and further) what would be the order of sports he should follow to develop completely. What should we fill the window of opportunity with between 7 and 10 years old? Thank you!
What motor skills or other things could they better develop now, between 6 and 10 years old, to become a good fighter (which would be harder to develop after that age)? What exactly should we focus on to get the best out of those 3-4 years? Specifically what should and shouldn't we do? Thank you!
Hi guys .. i have a question.. I'm from north Morocco I'm 19.. i can tell you that we don't have any club of MMA or just for wrestling.. for example i like to do wrestling .I'm good little bit in wrestling .. I have a passion to train MMA .. and my dream to be a fighter... But now I'm just doing body building with some kickboxing lessons without a coach and doing some wrestling with some friends .. because like i said we don't have any club for MMA or any combat sports .. I have a dream to be a fighter but I'm handcuffed .. i have a fighting spirit but I'm really handcuffed And i hate myself seeing my dream going away from me .. The question is .. can you give me an advice please!!? I need advices.. please can you read this comment .. god bless you all
Getting hit in the face is always a go to experience. Like, I could do without it. Do it when your young I say. Later, you"ll avoid it. One broken nose is enough. Unless life and limb is on the agenda, or loved ones, walk away. But be sure of this, you push it too far, oh zi might just destroy you. And i"m not talking nice stuff, like release my inner beast.
Dear coach, no question, i'm a judo player, is judo enough for MMA i do kickboxing bjj an judo, is this enough for MMA or i have find some tome for wrestling? Thanks.
@@MMACoach79 that video was awesome coach, and really help me, you should do more videos with details like that one, is pure gold for judo players that are trying to go into a Grappling and MMA, with a judo background, thanks You are so kind..
Go to a gym ask to be a janitor for free classes find a way find a number of a gym call them maybe they'll take custody of you one day who knows I hope you get to be something in life as long as you have hope you can do well in life
I'm in almost the same position, ask the why and if they still say no then call ur social worker. If (s)he says no then go to the mma gym and tell them abt ur position
